  1. If only he can see it, then just paint a massive cock on it and tell him if he want's it gone he'll have to paint it back to the original colour.

Something glorius and veiny aught to sway his opinion.

That's drawn with a loving attention to detail Joe .

I wish that was my work. A stunning cock indeed.

When you say you wish it was your work, do you mean you wish you drew it or you wish it was your stunning cock?

  2. No enough information. If the guy waited 10 or 15 minutes then he definitely over reacted but if if he had been waiting 14 days or more then he must have been close to starvation so desperate measure and all that!

  3. Their public liability insurance may well pay for third party claims but I believe still breaking the law. Also I see no advantage in SORN because I though you SORN'd and got refunded full months TAX so the month the SORN was made has already been used. I can't believe these cars are in for longer than a month.

  4. I say zero tolerance. I have been out and had a pint, sometimes two, and drive home totally fine while my father in law drinks ONE pint and he can't stand! No exaggeration!

Different people metabolise alcohol differently and alcohol affects different people in very different ways. There has to be a blanket limit and I believe that limit has to be zero because people are generally not responsible enough to known when they've had too much. Not so much now but in my younger days I knew many people who honestly believed they could drink upwards of 10 pints and still drive home. I've seen my own father do it!

  5. Quick question guys ... selling the old car (2009 Insignia diesel) for a few quid and sods law a bloody warning light has come on but I can't find it in any manual or search on net.

It is an open book with an exclamation mark on the right hand side. Does anyone know what this is?

  6. I've had a Koonlung KS1 in the car for about 4 years now, only seems to like the best (fastest) Samsung cards though. Its got front and rear cameras and records when parked for at least 30 minutes.

    http://www.hddashcam.uk/product/koonlung-k1s/

Mine goes off within a minute or so of parking but the slightest touch, I mean unlocking, triggers the park mode and it comes on. Only use the battery when it's needed.

  7. Place your bets...

100/1 ... she saves up for a car

2/1 ... Phooey saves up for her car

Evens ... phooey has already bought her one

    :D

Definitely worth putting a tenner on that one then mate ... She is getting no f*&%ing car out of me. She's saving!

  8. So, following on from this, I have been looking at plumbing in the hard wire kit.

Now, I have found a switched live that might do the trick but there is an odd thing that I have never come across before. I found a fuse that is dead with ignition off and then live when ignition is on ... perfect! But, when I switch ignition off again it stays live for a few minutes. Is this a quirk of Volvo?? I have never had it with any of my other cheap, crappy cars!

My last Mondeo did this. The accessory socket stayed live for about 15 minutes after the ignition was switched off.

Cool thanks. It's not that long ... literally a minute or two so I can live with that.

  9. OK ... so in the end I gave up on it ... borrowed a mates OBD meter and it gave no codes at all. Nothing showing on dash either. Took it for a drive and it was worse than she explained. Around town at 20/30mph you can just about live with it. Dual carriageway or motorway it's dangerous. No guts whatsoever. 0 - 60 in about a minute ... no exageration guys!

Air filter black so took it out (made no difference) ... no split pipes that I can see. EGR looked fine and turbo clean and running. Also discovered she needed new pads and discs all round plus NSF coil spring and both rear coil springs.

Suggested she start saving up for new car :booty:

I'm sure Ive read somewhere that some modern BMW bikes do this on the accessory connection.

Maybe Volvo have adopted a similar thing then mate. Nice to hear from you again, Sir!

  12. Iv not heard of shorty

That is hardly surprising as he vanished in a puff of angst years ago after getting just a bit tired of the constant sniping from a habitually immature and terminally oversensitive forum member who couldn't cope with being told he was wrong about something unimportant. (it happens)

As with most internet forums there is a conveyor belt of idiots and jerks that come and go. my mistake was not realising what i was dealing with and trying to be helpful.

    Im far more careful nowadays.

Anyway.. shorty who wasnt short. became Gerontious who also isn't short. and who has managed to resist this thread

    anyway... AS I'M HERE.

Gerontious is a made up word (I added a surreptitious letter) and extraordinarily inappropriate for a motorbike forum.

Its roots are Latinised/Greek (via TS Elliot) for "little old man" cause I'm faux intellectual-like.

Im not little... and Im only vaguely old. in a vague kinda way.

Im also having a Hennessey crisis.. which explains a lot.

Nice to 'see' you again, little old man! :salute:

  13. A few years ago we went to an interesting cafe meet somewhere where the cafe was shut when we arrived! Remember that Stu, Bob? lol

Ah yes one job Bob was born wasn't it @Tango

    That's the one lol

As for shorty maybe @Gerontious could explain it...

Something I shouldn't be asking then!

  14. Well now. I initially joined the forum as 'MidLifeBiker' because I am in my 50's and ride!

A few years ago we went to an interesting cafe meet somewhere where the cafe was shut when we arrived! Remember that Stu, Bob? lol

Anyway, another forum member, Shorty, was there, ... what happened to Shorty I noticed he's not on here now? Shorty started calling me Hong Kong Phooey because of my involvement with martial arts ... name change to Phooey!

  15. One day in the mid sixties, my dad drove me, mum and my sister back home in the family car late at night.

Speed must have been about 80 km/h when all of a sudden a big sow stepped right in front of the car out of nowhere.

The 'bang' was unbelievable, and the car was stopped within a few meters...

Mind you, no seat belts nor aibags in those days. But though we were all quite shaken, no one was harmed..

We got out of the car onto the dark road.

It was a '62 Skoda, and these eastern european cars were built like tanks in those days. Still it was badly damaged and a lot shorter than normal.

We never expected the pig to have survived, but it was walking about restlessly in a daze, grunting and limping and breathing heavily.

We did not know what to do about the pig and since the car was unusable, dad decided to walk to a farm a little further down the road for help.

At that moment lights went on in the farm and a little later a tractor came our way.

The farmer told us that the loud bang woke him up and that he already had telephoned the police.

After a while they arrived, and so did a butcher...

The farmer obviously had made more calls than one.

The sow was his, the farmer said, but he couldn't think how it got out of the field.

Apparently pigs don't swim so it would not have crossed the canals that border the field.

The sow, still alive though hardly moving by now, was immediately taken by the butcher to be butchered still that night.

It was still fit for consumption if butchered in time.

Nothing was wasted in the 60's...

Later we heard that the pig's ribs had penetrated it's lungs and it was slowly drowning in it's own blood.

Horrible... My sister and I were quite upset for a long time when we heard this.

The farmer figured that the sow must have jumped a 1,65 meter high gate.

He had moved her to the field, away from her piglets, that day and she had probably gone looking for them.

And even a high gate could not stop her... But unfortunately she found a Skoda on her way...

As the farmer was responsable, damages were paid by his insurance.

The car was a write-off and dad bought his long desired dreamcar; a Ford Cortina 1500 mk-I...

The moral of the story: Never drive on dark country roads at night in a Skoda !

See, that's the thing. If we are not supposed to eat animals, why are they made of meat?

  16. The offering it up for evidence may be out of your hands lol, a guy just got done for destroying his dash cam card, came under perverting the corse of justice, which almost always lands you with jail time.

Ah but there's a difference between 'offering' it up and destroying the evidence. I wouldn't do that. My OH works for the police and I suspect I'd lose a lot of her respect if I tried to destroy the evidence. I'd take the cop in that event. I just wouldn't go running to make the offer.

  17. Only drawback I belive with next Base is you can't stop it recording your speed. Obviously that won't be an issue for anyone, you can stop it showing on screen but it's still recorded with data, other than that they OK.

99% of the time I stay within speed limits so not a real problem that. Plus, if I did have an accident while breaking the speed limit I'd hardly offer it for evidence of no blame! lol

  18. This is the one that I've got.......https://www.halfords.com/technology/dash-cams/dash-cams/nextbase-312gw-limited-edition-dash-cam-bundle

That looks decent. No ugly wires is a huge advantage and Argos has them for £79!

    Serious contender there I think!

EDIT: And, hard wiring looks pretty damned easy too!

  19. Drift x is OK if you want cheap, drift 4k it's more money but much better quality

Sorry was thinking bike not car lol

Sorted with bike, Bender. Def for the car!
