  1. Far to regularly.. I have it happen almost every day on the same roundabout. But yeah as above. Left shoulder BEFORE you move to the exit.
  2. Ah good call on the brake fluid =) (Totally know what im doing here ) Will order a filter on we-moto for £5 and see if i can get some pliers to.. Doubt i have any laying around the house.
  3. Blimey thats a comprehensive guide! Sounds relatively do-able then! Bike is oil cooled btw. All i need to get is some brake fluid, clutch fluid, (possibly but hopefully not) new brake pads. and a oil filter remover. Is there some sort of special feature (like a shape that locks to screwdrivers etc) that allows me to take the oil filter off ? Never taken one off or seen one!!
  4. =) Top reply Mr fro. I reckon i will look into changing the fluids ( an evening spent reading my haynes is in order!) coolant i have read can be tricky? making sure no air bubbles get in? Suspension might need adjustment as it does hop up and down sometimes.. Sod it i'll gather a list of things i need (fluids etc.. time to use the halfords card) and set a saturday aside (yes the whole day )
  5. Bike is coming up to about 12000 miles.. Now i have rang several places asking for how much it will cost and it varies from £99 to £250... Now if i'm honest i've looked at the list and i think i can do MOST of it. Might take me a few days. Do people do their own service or just take it in and pay for the ease of it? I want to learn how but i don't want to f**k my bike up As far as i can tell the list is as follows : Replace oil Drain the oil and then fill it with new stuff? Replace oil filter Drain the oil first.. then take it off stick new one on. Check fuel lines Haynes ? Check throttle operation I get to work everyday..? Check idle speed Need to increase this slightly Check cooling system No clue again haynes? Check secondary air system wat Check chain wear and adjustment Do this weekly anyway Check brake fluid Weekly Check clutch fluid Wat Check brake pad wear I reckon i can do this with haynes Check brake system I stop at work every day. Check light operation I see my work everyday Check tire depth and condition They're new Check wheel bearings Not sure on this one but it rides straight Check suspension Haynes can probably guide me Check bodywork condition It's a little scratchy in places but its fine Road test Daily Lube locks Wat Lube pivots Wat So all in all i can do MOST of it. The stuff i can't i reckon haynes will help me through it and a little nudging from my dad (ex-biker) can always assist =)
  6. Where abouts in the country are you?
  7. Hmm might be worth a gander! A lot of people have mentioned that. Only thing is why would it stop in the rain? Gonna try it tonight see how it runs.
  8. Carb floats were broken (2 of them) so he replaced all 4 while he had it all open. Will check fuel filter but it has done almost 200 miles without issue last 2 weeks, just seems in the rain it's gone kaput.
  9. It's more.. Say im going down A12 at 70 (yeah right) 6th gear at about 6000RPM. Then i hold the throttle and power will feel like it's disappearing, revs drop down 2-3000RPM and a second or so later they jump back to where they were.. Also when going around at slower speeds in second gear i open the throttle to accelerate up a hill and it chugs as if it's not getting all its power out.
  10. Right. So after spending a shite load of money to have all the engine torn apart and checked after a ride home in the rain (light) yesterday the engine started to splutter and struggle after about 10 minutes. Managed to get home and it was on/off doing this still.. So to me it sounds more like an electrical issue no? So as i had ONE ignition coil changed. i might change the other to make sure it's not that buggering about. Other than that any suggestions?
  11. I would have her take the CBT with a different company. Fork out the money (£100 at most?) get her trained properly. If she carries on like this she will just be scared of bikes and hate them. Just say to a test centre you passed the CBT on a twist and go and want some training for a geared. Probably easier than training her yourself..
  12. Nope I did mine last year was the same as my car one i did 7 years ago. They ARE updating it though, but they're just refilming the exact same scenes with a better camera
  13. Good work =) GOod luck with the theory if you practice it's a doddle. Get someone to ask you random questions and you'll pick it up in no time. Hazard perception is properly easy. Just click on what you think is a developing hazard and when it becomes a hazard. They're rather stupid tbh though, but necessary to ride an awesome motorbike!
  14. Stick a piece of plywood on it then race toward it at 88MPH and take it off that sweet jump bro.
  15. My bike being chinese could be why I stick to more of a strict cleaning schedule, for the pipes at least only takes a few minutes.. and indeed not always, usually do it at the end of the night. Also being a naked makes it easier for me to do as opposed to fairings, dependant on bike how easy the process is I guess. Might be worth a mention but underseat electrics might need a spray as well (bit of advice that stuck out while researching the topic previously). What have you got? Please don't say a Sinnis...
  16. I did walk past the stand and snicker quietly to myself.
  17. It was ok. Quite busy, enjoyed watching the demonstration on the victory cruiser before the race with mcguiness and crew. Sat on some nice bikes, Fell in love with the thruxton ace cafe model and the BMW S1000 white Bought no gear as it was all crap looking and expensive.
  18. You can do eeeet! As it's been said just think "What SHOULD i do".... then when you pass your test you can ride how you like :D But seriously take it slow and steady, think things through before you do them. Goodluck =)
  19. I bought a large pair of trousers from J&S accessories (size above me) and they fit over my work trousers just fine for around £50. A pair of boots that cost £40 (and i have shoes at the office to change in to when there). Other than that a Jacket i use a rev'it jacket that cost me £130 and it keeps all but the most ridiculously heavy rain out and a caberg V2RR helmet cost me £130. A nice pair of warm gloves will do you a world of good and a set of waterproofs (jacket primarily but trouser to) to hide under the seat of the bike or in your backpack. A topbox would be helpful if you have the money so you can put your helmet in there save carrying around the office =) As it's been said go into the shops and try haggle a little, May be able to get a whole set of gear if you haggle right
  20. I like the idea about a paint brush for all the hidden bits.. gonna try this. I use this stuff as of last few months, Spray it onto a cloth and just wipe over all the exposed metal i can reach. Seems to keep it clean and fairly rust free so =)
  21. Couple of beers, bag of cheetos and a breaking bad marathon.
  22. Going down to excel bike show friday not looking for ward to the £30 ish ticket to get about. Would go on my bike but cba to lug my shit around all day
  23. Longest run out so far was down to kent. Need to pace myself a tad Or plan a route with lots of cake stops.
  24. Haha this summer i plan some gradually longer runs! Will check it out. You had nice weather for it (in colchester it was nice at least)
  25. Ah shit i missed this! Just got my bike back would've been well up for this. If you're ever my way again gimme a PM i often miss these things by a day.
