  1. If it's similar to a radio i am not sure. But you can always set up a phone call? Most phone contracts have unlimited minutes for bugger all money anyhow.
  2. I do take a bit of blame true, I always ride / filter slowly when in traffic asi 've been knocked off before. Still just pisses me off how little people look.
  3. I slaved mine to the horn, So it turns on only when the ignition is on.
  4. I just bought an oxford one for my bike. Comes with a good cover to stop water getting in. It's a cigarette lighter style though. But you can buy a USB adapter for £4.
  5. Van driver on my way home last night. I was coming along london road. Traffic had stopped so started to overtake at 20. Came to this junction so slowed down a little and saw a van waiting, As i pass a car he flashes and van driver roars out, I swerve and held on the horn but he came within 2 inches of my bike close enough i could have patted his bonnet. Shat my pants a little at how blind people are. Just because you're flashes doesn't mean it's safe. Below (if link works) where the incident happened. https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.88484 ... !2e0?hl=en
  6. Got myself another set on the Saturday and faffed around fitting on the Sunday. £5 off normal price of £29.99 is currently a bargain. Had to butcher the throttle slide with a Stanley knife to get the right hand one fully on as there was an inner and outer lip locating the original grip that were in the way. After a battle getting the wires under the tank (without loosening it), I hooked it into the supply wire to the fusebox for accessories (couldn't find the accessory plug meant to be up front). One wrap of micropore tape on the throttle slide before fitting and no glue needed at all. Throttle side twisted on and clutch side tapped on with a rubber mallet. They work like a treat. Wack them on max to begin with then turn down to three lights once warm. The most noticeable difference is at speed where max is fine but gets too hot once back to normal traffic speed. Sound good! Still waiting to fit mine had some issues with immobiliser took up time Gonna fit them this weekend with my new bulbs.
  7. Exactly! Nothing wrong with a little sucking up
  8. Overall the Mod 1 is trickier i think. As if you've been riding on a CBT mod 2 is just a more sensible ride out. Manual handling - Keep bike straight, look as if you were on a real road (left and right as you exit and enter cones) Slalom - Focus on the Cone ahead of the one you're driving towards figure of 8 - Turn your head, as soon as you pass the middle crank your neck and turn the complete other direction the bike will naturally move that way. Keep high revs and play with the clutch. Slow riding - Pretty easy just keep revs high and play with the clutch, Rear brake if going to fast. U turn - Similar to figure of 8, do your checks then crank your head round and focus on the END don't look at the white line or you'll go over it. High revs, Rear brake IF going to quick. Speed test - Easy just leave it in second and rev it to buggery Emergency stop - Watch your speed don't go faster than you need to. Firmly pull the front and rear brakes but don't do it to hard, Doesn't matter (i don't think) if you stall though try not to =) Hazard avoidance - I struggled with so i spent most time training this one, Just leave it in second again rev high and then push down on the handlebar to the right then left to swerve past the obstacle. The speed test/hazard advoidance you get can take a second try on ONE of them if you're not going fast enough (31mph i believe) Just relax. Do your shoulder checks WHENEVER you move and if you're not sure what to do just ask. Do not start the bike before he says to and shake his(or her) hand when you meet them, Give them a reason to think you're a top chap!
  9. As for riding advice, Keep it simple. No hard acceleration or hard braking (unless you HAVE to) and take turns a bit slower. Look ahead for potential hazards and leave additional space to stop, don't forget that black ice is hard to spot and dangerous. I also recomend a pinlock visor for your helmet to reduce the fogging up factor =) Nothing worse than being unable to see or having to ride visor up in the bitter cold. Check out racevisors.
  10. Why even bother posting.. Little rusted on the fuel tap but there is writing there managed to make out "Res" and "on"
  11. Question for a bandit owner. Can't find a reference to it anywhere in my haynes ( could be blind) But can someone advise which direction my fuel tap should face? Have up down and sideways. Don't want to be running around with reserve open if i can help it.

    Bike wont start

If you let your fuel go down to the absolute minimal level before topping up, your fuel filter will pick up all the crap that usually hangs around the bottom of the tank, then it builds up inside that and causes a blockage. Usually do about 100 miles then fill up. can do around 130 only once have i ran out.
  13. Top banana! Well done =) Taking those L-plates off is a good feeling. You'll soon be wanting to get a bigger bike
