  1. I picked up a Rev-it jacket from Orwells for £150. Looks like it might stand up better to the rain. It's never going to hold out a typhoon but i always carry waterproofs anyway as an emergency
  2. Well done mate =) Whens the full test booked? =D
  3. Anybody Going to this event? Missed it last year but would like to go this year =D Ideally on the bike. If going anyone from south/south east want to ride up as likely be my first big ride on new bike.
  4. Still looking at buying a new textile jacket soon.. Now i'm not sure wether or not to ride around the local bike shops (parkinsons copes hythe orwells etc) or wait and go to one of the shows in the next few months. Have the birmingham one around november? And the show at excel in london in february. Suggestions? is it better to wait or buy one now.
  5. I would hope that you'd have been doing all your checks as second nature if you have been already riding for a year. Good luck. Of course. But you pick up bad habbits when riding after you finish training.
  6. Pretty sure i have in my drawers at home a full body waterproof overall thing. Will check the size (think it's a large? i'm 6'0 and 16 stone it's a bit to small to do up) If you want it you're welcome to it for a little forum donation if and postage cost.
  7. When my helmet went in due to a leaky visor. I was given a rental flip up front. It was a Caberg something or other. It was alright, It rattled a little at speed. I also have heard (as some others have pointed out) that the protection is not as good. Not sure if it's been tested but i'd prefer a full face. I don't often need to talk to people on my bike =D
  8. Top banana =) About to do my mod 2 next week, A little nervous but i've ridden for best part of a year, Just gotta remember to do the checks everytime and make sure they see me doing it. But hoping will pass without to much issue!!
  9. I plan on getting a new jacket at some point as mine is damaged and not that great for water proofing. Thought i carry a thin plastic waterproof jacket in my rucksack, no weight or space and sling it over if it's real bad. Stay dry as can be in that =) Cheap solution to an expensive problem.
  10. I was always taught to look over the shoulder of the direction you're going. I tend to keep an eye on the traffic in the mirrors constantly anyhow so not much tends to sneak up on me. But always do a life saver anyway =) And i always do one as i leave a roundabout. So coming to a 4 exit roundabout going off the 3rd exit. quick glance over shoulder, right hand lane, pull onto roundabout indicating. Just before my junction indicate off, quick look over my left shoulder. pull over and exit roundabout. If you don't have time to do this (a lot of people don't bother it's personal choice) you're going to fast.
  11. It's what the CBT is for. Compulsory Basic Training. They will teach you about safety gear, Roadsigns, The bike and its mechanics how it works(brakes engine oil etc), Then they'll sit you on the bike. Let you put it in gear and roll forward. Then do some circles of the car park(if you're in a car park) then they'll get you to do some braking, basic manouvers such as turning, figures of 8 etc. Then if they and more importantly you, are happy you'll go out for a ride, They'll fit you with a radio and give you instructions while they follow a safe distance behind to stop people tail gating you. Take it steady and don't act like an idiot, If they're happy with your riding, Congratulations you can ride a bike =D. Keep calm, and have fun!
  12. Got a link for these? Won't show up on my computer >.>
  13. I'm always prepared to crawl through to find a bargain =D Cheers wil lcheck that out tango =)
  14. This is a request to all the "all weather" riders. What textile or whatever jacket do you use? I need a new one for the rainy season seeing as mine is ripped from my recent crash. I wan't something warm and comfortable and most importantly.. DRY Budget of no more than £200 really as i am el-skinto. Colour wise. Not to fussed as long as it's not pink, orange or green. Please point out good and bads of any jackets.
  15. You doing the long way round or something? =D
  16. That's nice =D
  17. That looks like a wicked place to ride! Also you take those with a pre-set camera? or get a friend/photographer to take them?
  18. Been looking around for some frame sliders, A little precaution could save me plenty of cash in a crash. The ones i've found are around £70 does this sound right? Or should they be a lot cheaper?
  19. I fail to see the problem...
  20. Gonna cost you more to do this than to just pay a company to use their bike. Also hassle. getting it there, getting it insured. Why bother? Paid £500 TOTAL for my DAS thats all tests 3 days training (1 for mod 1 2 for mod 2) and theory. aswell as bike rental and insurance.
  21. If it's black leather a friend said just use boot polish over it.
  22. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCPEbPp ... kLpaIQKaIQ My awfully named channel =)
  23. I think he just did Haha fair enough!!! Will edit this later and stick mine on. work doesnt allow youtube! Able to get this stickied if it gets enough traction? =)
  24. Not sure if there is such a thing or if anyone would be interested But having a list (sticky) for people who have their own moto vlog channels. I personally just upload the near misses and funny things i see, but now more and more people are getting cameras (especially on here) It would be nice to check some out.
  25. 5 sessions? Blimey that's a lot isn't it? I did 3 hours the day before and an hour before the test. I have had about 8 months riding though so maybe its different. Still better over prepared than under! Good luck =) Time will come around reaaaaaal quick mate but i know the agony =D
