    not charging

You have a multi meter? If not buy this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Digital-LCD-M ... 1c32dd5ce7 easier to test stuff properly than guess and replace bits.
  2. One thing to remember though is just because something is "MOT legal" does not make it road legal, as your chances of outrunning the police on a 50cc are slim to none I'd check if it's road legal to not have mirrors..... just seems stupid to risk a ticket for the sake of a cheap set of mirrors. It may be fine I actually have no idea though as I can't think why anyone would want to not have mirrors!

    Dead Again

It looks decent (if the same one I just googled) I'd try and push them down a bit though by waving cash and pointing out it has gone down the road on it's right hand side. Racks and boxes are available for E models not sure on panniers, though universals would fit. I tend to strap stuff to the seat via the folding bungee hooks (secure enough to hold a papa johns XL pizza at triple figure speed for 12 miles) or pack out my enormous tank bag. Great bikes I bought my 400 as a super cheap hack after I killed 2nd gear on my prior bike, expected to dislike it now I love it enough I have bought a frame and am building one from ground up!
  5. 1. Would you consider buying a padded Kevlar shirt for use on roads: NO Crap idea. Have you seen Kevlar hoodies? They are too hot for the summer and not waterproof so shite in winter, on top of that they slide up in crashes so unless you have a cut or something on top they are pointless and if you have a leather cut on top they are pointless as you have leather on the body. Shirts and the like = fail for same reasons. I do wear Kevlar jeans and cargo's 99% of the time I ride but they don't suffer the same fails. 2. If so, what protection would you prefer: If I had too..... a decent layer of some kind of Aramid (Kevlar is a brand name) not pointlessly thick like draggin use though. Couple that with removable CE inserts 3. Would you like the shirt to be customisable (i.e patches, different prints, colours, names etc): NO If you belong to somewhere that needs patches you don't need to buy em from the guy that sold you a shirt. 4. How much would you be willing to pay for just a Kevlar lined shirt: B-all because I think it's a bad idea but if one was made as I described in question 2 and you put a rifle to my head and told me to buy if it was over £50 you can squeeze the trigger. 5. How much would you be willing to pay for a fully armoured and Kevlar lined shirt: As above... foam armour does not equal more money. 6. Sex: MALE 7. Type of bike ridden: Anything with 2 wheels and an engine though currently a sport tourer.

    Dead Again

A good mid 90's ZZR600 E ('95 on with the preload adjustable forks) can be had for under or around £1k. An earlier E (93-95 no adjustable front forks) even cheaper. A 600 D model £500 or less (but would probably be a bit of a "project"). I'd have thought unless your GS is really rough it should easily sell for a fair whack more than that.

    Dead Again

What you would spend rebuilding that one would buy you something more reliable. My current ZZR cost less than 400 quid is 23 years old and has yet to let me down. GS beemers seem to be desirable/fashionable so command decent prices, a cheap one is going to be shagged. Just my opinion/what I'd do.... bodge current problem, sell it while it still has some value buy a cheap hack from the usual suspect list (cb500/ntv/zzr/er5/gpz/bandit) and run that till you get something new and shiny. Any of those bikes can be had for under a grand, go on forever and costs peanuts to run or repair. If it's your primary transport surely a reliable, tatty looking hack is better than a flashy thing that leaves you stranded.

    Dead Again

The amount of issues you seem to be having with that bike I'd punt it on let some other poor sod deal with it.
  9. Kevlar jeans, helmets, leather..... these are protection. A hi-vis is not and a hi-vis with a thinly veiled attempt at looking like a copper is also not protective. These vests enable sad little fantasists to get a bit closer to living out wannabe copper wet dreams. These vests serve ZERO safety purpose over a bog standard hi-vis they are just a way sad little nobodies make their pathetic worthless existence more bearable by indulging in fantasies of power. They are in the same league of pathetically sad as the freaks that buy service medals on eBay then go hang round their local memorial wearing the things or the fantasy dreamers that buy cuts and cover them in Sons of Anarchy/fake club patches.
  10. I chose Tosser but only because there was no option filled with enough angry bile to express how much I think they and the wearers of are pathetic little shitestains that are stealing oxygen that could be breathed by actual people.

    Servicing?

DIY servicing is easy and cheap. I wouldn't rule out IL4 bikes just because of 2 extra plugs and carbs. I managed to do oil, oil filter, air filter, plugs, brake bleed, coolant top up and quick carb clean on my IL4 today in about 2 1/2 hours and most of that was removing and later putting back on the fairings. My bike is 23 years old so service stamps mean nothing

    Gear jumping?

If it's a Kawasaki it's often related to the positive neutral finder. Sorting it can be a major pain to the point most owners will simply swap out the engine.
  13. I rely on the pad in my jacket. I now have a fairly serious spinal issue from a crash back in May. I should get a proper back protector that bit of foam in a jacket is not much good.
  14. Nice progress. I know you want youtube views but any chance you can include still photos of the work along with the written descriptions? I have short attention span for videos
  15. Get that back checked out, raise hell till your doctor does. I went down in May, long story short "minor" back injury has left me on tramadol, pregabalin and other crap since and now I'm looking at being sliced open and rearranged in the new year. Had they taken it seriously in May I might have got away with a bit of Physio.

    CA125 Woes

Needing to keep the choke on indicates (usually) blocked jets in the carbs. I wouldn't pay a garage to sort that it's a very easy DIY job to remove and clean carb even for a total beginner, way too easy to pay extortionate labour charges. KPH clocks indicate euro or jap import. Yanks generally use the 250 version as a learner bike (and their clocks are MPH only), too them a 125 is a kids toy. You can get a converter for about £20 to make it read Mph, better than writing on the clock ( http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Motrax-Mechan ... 2c8d9645d3 ). You just screw it in to the back of the clock where the speedo cable goes and then screw the cable in to it, 2 minute job. Your friend needs to put down the crack pipe KPH or MPH have no bearing on the size of jet in a carb neither does the petrol grade in a different country, if it did we would have to strip our bikes and rejet every time we go abroad or even swap to premium unleaded.
  17. Not a CBR copy. The 250 version has actually scored a couple of very good reviews. Daelim started out in the 70's making stuff for Honda in Korea. Mrs has been eying up the 250 so I looked in to them a bit.
  18. I swapped my clock bulbs out on prior and current bike for the tiny LED ones. Awesome difference easy to see and the light seems to spread more evenly across the clock (probably due to the way the LED's are arranged).
  19. Why's that raesewell? I think they proved the thing about toecaps taking off your toes was bollocks
  20. Well I liked my ZZR400k (400 version of a 600D) enough that I decided I wanted a nicer one. Now as you can’t get one new anymore (and I couldn’t afford if you could), I decided the only way to get what I want is to build one. I have a sporadic shoestring budget, no garage to work in and I’m trying to rebuild a 23 year old bike that was never officially sold in the UK and had a short production run. Yes I’m probably stupid. Now when I began to plan on paper my dream build included New fairings All electrics and clocks from a 600D Entire front end (forks, yokes, etc) from a 1995 onward 600E/400N (they have adjustable preload) Nissen callipers from a CBR Hagon shock New tank Budget and reality have set in a bit though. The callipers have been dropped I have a spare set of Tokicos I’ll try to recondition. New fairings are impossible (not made) so they will be a case of buying piecemeal on eBay as decent used ones appear. The 600E front end has been dropped as budget probably won’t allow. The Hagon Shock is dropped on budget grounds too, I have a spare standard shock that needs cleaning up and will hopefully buy a better spring to replace on it. To start with I had a large amount of spares, Forks – Need work Engine – Needs a total stripdown and rebuild as unknown condition Callipers and master cylinders – Both front and rear Wheels – Need a good cleanup and painting Rad – Needs a clean but functional have about 5 coolant reservoirs to go with it Swingarm – Needs a clean Sprocket carrier – Needs a clean Various other bits I can’t remember off the top of my head I bought a frame on eBay for the princely sum of £15. It’s legit, straight and undamaged. Plan is to have the frame and swingarm powder coated. Cheapest quote I can find is £150. With the sporadic shoestring budget that will take a while to get saved up. In the meantime I will clean up the bits I have and keep an eye on eBay for bargains I need. Anyways some photos to start this build log. The frame http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh504/wr6133/IMG_20140820_160428_zps02649aa5.jpg A dirty engine http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh504/wr6133/_57_zps91e151ce.jpg Sprocket carrier before cleaning http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh504/wr6133/IMG_20140915_125838_zpse5a7f553.jpg And afterward http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh504/wr6133/IMG_20140915_143320_zps88d074e6.jpg Found this sprocket in the pile of parts I have (they came with the current ZZR) looked in good nick so cleaned it up too. http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh504/wr6133/IMG_20140915_153217_zps4392ebc5.jpg Have a 4-1 collector and pipes. I actually want a standard 4-2 on the bike as the 4-1 creates flatspots (my current ZZR has a 4-1). Cleaned it up though incase it does get used http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh504/wr6133/IMG_20140915_155725_zps1723fd6b.jpg http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh504/wr6133/IMG_20140915_161518_zps9add840b.jpg You all may want to buy shares in WD40 the amount I’m going through the company may have a bonanza year. http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh504/wr6133/IMG_20140915_161330_zpsd4d831d4.jpg http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh504/wr6133/IMG_20140915_162512_zps49e06345.jpg Cleaned some other bits http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh504/wr6133/IMG_20140917_122648_zpsa6ae19e4.jpg A prior owner had stripped this screw it had then rusted in place http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh504/wr6133/IMG_20140917_122826_zps245dcb97.jpg Hacksaw and leatherman sorted it http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh504/wr6133/IMG_20140917_123220_zps11c362b9.jpg Then degreased. Will need sanding down to remove someone’s shit attempt at painting it http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh504/wr6133/IMG_20140917_124840_zps63edbec7.jpg Today I have started to strip the callipers. Front M/C, will need a total rebuild the rubber seals are dead. http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh504/wr6133/IMG_20140918_091256_zps217a1a63.jpg Calliper, the pistons are completely seized. http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh504/wr6133/IMG_20140918_091305_zps96658d11.jpg I don’t have a greasegun or airline so trying boiling to get the buggers out Some tabasco with your entrée? http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh504/wr6133/IMG_20140918_093940_zps1e30ad01.jpg That’s where I’m at now. This will be a slow build. Not a lot of disposable income so things like powder coating will take a while to save for. Also in no rush as I have a ZZR already on the road.
  21. If you want some experience before hand see if any local school participates in the "get on" scheme. Basically a free couple of hours on a 125. Webshite here - http://www.geton.co.uk/
  22. Find the plate on the frame somewhere. If the model is a JS125 then you probably can. Jianshe make the YBR and sell it themselves as JS125-6a/b/c this is in turn sold here under a variety of importers names.
  23. You can't restrict a bike down to 125cc. The CC refers to the capacity of the engine not some power figure so it's either a 125cc or not a 125cc So no you can't
  24. I'd say it is unreasonable if it is just a case of taking you to the tests and providing a bike for them Mod 1 is around £15 Mod 2 is around £80. So he is charging you ALOT for what is essentially bike hire and an escort. If it includes lessons then it is reasonable.
