I've been out there giving it a clean and a shine.

Then had a few practice goes at getting it on the centre stand.

There's a specific handle (not the pillion) but it's a bit tight for my fingers.

Still, I'll keep trying until I get the technique correct.

Do you have picture of it? With my GS I used to just stand on the centre stand lever and it would pop up.

    Flippin' 'eck, that's sweet.

Not sure I'd trust myself to go near it, from fear of smudging that shine.

    :D

I put a PPF film on all the painted parts and head light. (And it’s just been cleaned).

Taking it back to the installer tomorrow because some areas haven’t taken too well. Unfortunately the PPF is printed in sections for each pa el, rather than being a ‘wrap’, which is what I’d have preferred.

Yes, you have to switch them on, get them to the green setting, then hold down the button for 10 seconds to access amber and red.

Like I say, nice quality gloves, but not hot enough to bother with the faff.

I've ordered these and will report which I prefer.

    https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/407566.   (100g Primaloft)

They had the highest amount of insulation I could find.

The heat complaint surprises me; I rode for 5 days in minus temperatures through northern France (a low of -5) on the Amber setting and the Gerbing gloves performed admirably. I felt toasty the whole time.

The red setting got painfully hot after 10-15 minutes.

I took a punt on the Gerbings which arrived today, but I'll be sending them back for two reasons.

Firstly, they just don't fit my hand shape - finger tips pressing tightly against the ends whilst there was a half inch of excess thumb flopping about, so that was a non-starter.

Secondly, the heat was well below my expectations. I made sure I unlocked the hottest setting and attached to a 12V power supply and even after 20 mins on max, they were 'warm' at best. I inserted my pyrometer and the hottest reading I could get anywhere within the glove was 30 degrees C. Maybe that'd be enough to stop my fingers hurting from cold, but no way would that bring the 'warm and toasty' as per some of the reviews. As for the hottest setting needing to be unlocked to prevent scalding? Not a chance. Lovely gloves but the heated bit was very underwhelming.

On reflection, I canl't be faffed with cables and connections, so will just buy the warmest Aplinestars (they fit my hand shape) I can find - not that their website indicates which are the the warmest.

With the Gerbing gloves, the hottest two settings are locked out. You have to do some weird button combo to unlock it.

  5. Not with my bike, but with my heated jacket - for the 2nd time since i purchased it in Dec 2022, the sleeve connector has failed.

That means, since purchasing the jacket and gloves from Gerbing, i've had the right glove fail once and the jacket sleeve connector twice. On both previous occasions, the repair has been carried out under warranty. This time i had to repair it myself, which took about 10 minutes to cut and wire a new connector. The issue appears to be that there is no slack on the cables, so the connectors are always under tension when trying to connect the glove to the sleeve. So with that in mind, i've given myself some more slack in the cable which should give it a bit more longevity next winter.

  6. I’ve used Gerbing heated gloves to ride around France at -4 while feeling like it was summer.

Heated gear is a game changer… If you can be bothered with the faff of connecting of it all up.

As for Gerbing, I need to update my review on here. Their connectors are weak, and are prone to failure if connected/disconnected frequently. I’ve sent my heated jacket back once already for repair, plus had my heated gloves replaced under warranty due to a cable failure. My heated jacket has just failed again also.

  7. Dilemma - Titanium headers or not?

The full system on my S1000R was obnoxiously loud on a cold start as the engine would overrun at high revs for 30 seconds (which the M1000R also does) before settling down to something more civil.

However, the Euro5 bread bin does a great job of making the bike sound like battery powered drill. That, and it looks absolutely hideous.

Alternative (and for a similar price) is a aftermarket end can and a carbon bellypan to cover it up.

We had a young girl run up our arse as we stopped at a junction, luckily no damage to us or bike. She attempted to do a runner after forcing her way passed us and a couple of cars. We "chased" her for about 3 miles before we caught up to her in heavy traffic near a police check point, missus jumped off and went to inform police at check point who to their credit acted immediately and puller her over. She tried to deny hitting us but when we presented the video footage from the rear facing camera. On seeing this the officers pulled her from the car, placed her in cuffs and had her taken off to the local station. We were told to take a copy of video to traffic police asap who were dealing with her.

Unluckily for her the video damned her as she was not only on her phone but also doing her hair whilst driving, didn't go down well with traffic officer, who by luck was actually a bike cop and was well pissed with her attitude and disregard for other road users.

Her car was confiscated and turned into coke cans and she received a driving ban and a 3 month  jail sentence suspended for 18 months along with a large fine. All within 14 days of incident, not bad for a so called 3rd world country.

That’s a superb outcome. Great work.

i haven’t decided if im prepared to let it go yet, or not.

    Hello friends,

I've passed my CBT last week and I am looking to buy a motorbike. I am looking at the yamaha yzf r125 2023 model around 4000GBP that has only been ridden for about a mile thus practically new. It's in my budget, but the question is should I buy it and is it wise? I love the looks, the style, one of the top 125cc bike models.

Please let me know what you guys think.

    Thanks a lot!

    Congratulations.

Yes, buy the bike that you want!!

There’s no worse feeling seeing the bike you actually want whilst riding one you don’t.

    Enjoy!!
