  1. Stu, does your intercom have two bluetooth channels (i'm sure it must). My Sena 20S evo set up is thus. Connect phone to Tomtom for traffic data and cloud connection, then connect Tomtom as phone 1 to Sena then connect phone as phone two. This gives me phone calls through Tomtom and I can control music from the phone via the Sena. I tried several configurations before settling on this setup.
  2. Over the years I have found lots of creative ways to mount phones including making my own brackets. I had a perfectly good mount on my bike that did the job admirably, unfortunately I had to plug it in using a cable from the glove box socket. This was perfectly acceptable but a bit of a faff plugging and unplugging. So it was the wireless charging that sold this mount to me. I'll see how it goes longer term. If it turns out the naysayers are right I will just revert to the old mount, simples.
  3. I've had one of those for the past 64 years
  4. I am well aware of the pitfalls and was willing to take a chance. I'll see how it gets on in the rain first. The phone clamp seems pretty foolproof but I might just use the X grip rubber band just in case. I have a galaxy S8 which self protects against over charging so that should save itself from frying. If it goes tits up I'll let you know. It seems fairly solid in your hand and doesn't look or feel like a pile of crap. Time will tell.
  5. I have just fitted one of these to the bike https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Motorcycle-Handlebar-Phone-Holder-15W-Wireless-QC3-0-USB-Charger-GPS-Mount-Stand/233572943963?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&var=533245393282&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2648 I am impressed with it, I wanted to eliminate having to plug the phone in to charge it. I tested the charging capacity and it charges the phone even on full brightness with several apps running. I wanted to use my existing Ram Mount setup so had to fettle it a bit but I am pleased with the result. Here it is on the bike.
  6. Welcome to the forum, a location in your profile will help members give you good local advice. Edit: look here https://www.webbikeworld.com/extra-large-motorcycle-helmets-for-big-heads/
  7. Thanks for the help chaps
  8. I think I may have answered my own question I think it is a Deutsch DT cable connector, but not absolutely sure. Can anyone confirm and if so where can I get them?
  9. Can anyone identify this connector, name and / or supplier if possible. It's a connector for the Bikevis Cree V3 lights. In the photos the connector in question has the green section in it. I have taken the photos from different angles as much as possible for the best chance of identification. I have also included one of the female part of the plug. Any help will be much appreciated.

  12. A bike instructor is not automatically an advanced instructor. You should check out IAMs and ROSPA I did mine with and am a member of IAM. https://www.iamroadsmart.com/courses https://www.rospa.com/
  13. Most of the free UK courses are just an introduction / taster. To get a full, in person, course you will have to pay for it
  14. I had a similar knock over on a BMW K1200GT just a nudge while it was parked and over it went. It cost £2800 to fix, I was happy the Ladies insurance was paying for it.
  15. Remember wiring straight to the battery means it will always be live and the Tomtom active mount has a tiny current draw even if the unit is not mounted. This is similar to a phone wall charger using power even if there is no phone plugged in, it's the voltage converter that uses the power. If you can find an ignition triggered live you can easily tap into it with a Positap. https://posi-connect.com/collections/posi-tap Or use something like this if you intend to add other accessories https://www.nippynormans.com/f650st-f650cs-f650gs-f650-dakar/fuzeblock-switchable-fuse-panel Not cheap but I've had mine on three different bikes.
  16. I went down this route a few years ago and eventually bit the bullet and bought a proper intercom. You say you already have a camera, an intercom on the other side might balance things up . The volume and clarity over wind noise is the problem with the proposed set up. Give it a go and see how you get on. Then let us know which intercom you go with afterwards. Both Sena and Cardo have integrated systems but that would mean buying the helmet as well. There is also the Nolan N com (I think that's what they call it) and others with comms already fitted.
  17. The Tomtom can be powered by micro usb but you have to have the waterproof flap open which would obviously cause problems in the rain and would void any warranty. I am not sure if you could do this while its in a Tomtom mount, I'll check tomorrow. It was possible with the V5 but the passive cradle needed modifying slightly. My preference would ALWAYS be to wire it to a switched source.
  18. I went out on the bike today for about an hour and a half, first time for about 9 weeks. I wasn't as rusty as I thought I would be.
  19. Good to see you are on the ball
  20. You might want to keep an eye on The FCO (Foreign and Commonwealth Office) website. They are still advising against all foreign travel, this could change by the time you travel. Any travel insurance would be void if you travel against FCO advice. https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/foreign-commonwealth-office
  21. and I thought it was a new pair of running shoes
  22. Sorry, I am unable to provide a no risk strategy to living your life. I'm happy to live my life taking calculated risks and enjoy life because of them. Good luck living life risk free. I didn't say I live risk free, I ride a motorbike for goodness sake
  23. OK, low risk but not no risk
  24. It's low risk apart from the petrol pump bit. I have always carried hand sanitiser with me on the bike (to prevent smelly gloves) so would be ok, ish.
