  1. Call yourself a biker, ha
  2. When I was in Biarritz with my wife we saw a young couple on a scooter with luggage, fishing gear and a surf board strapped to the side of the scooter. It didn't look safe and I wouldn't do it but it can be done.
  3. Mine too
  4. Don't forget a good insurance policy this time.

  6. I have just ordered some Rain-X, I have tried Nikwax which was OK but only OK, we'll see how the Rain-X performs.
  7. For the past five years I have organised a ride for the EuroKclub, named Wrinklies Chasing The Sun. The start of this years trip is Southport on Monday 3rd June, so if any of the members in or around Southport would like to come and meet the group and have a chat, you would be welcome. We are staying at the Travelodge and will no doubt make our way to Wetherspoons just along the road. We should be at Wetherspoons by about 5 pm. Please come and say hello if you are in the area.
  8. The Travelodge in Portsmouth is handy for the ferry, it's just across the road from the ferry terminal. Biarritz is worth a visit for a few hours, it's a bit of a millionaires playground but worth seeing. I am not familiar with the south of France so can't give advice for that area.
  9. Hello Jem, give us a few more details. How are you crossing the water and a rough idea of your route. I have spent lots of time in France and might be able to make some suggestions that don't take you too far out of your way if I know where "your way" is.

  11. Always happens to me, trousers shrink over the winter. Eat less for a while
  12. You're welcome, a first for me, I have never been anyones "bro" before.
  13. Hello and welcome. If you put where "here" is, in your profile you might get more suggestions.
  14. Measure it with a vernier caliper or take a bit with you.
  15. Ah, a bit too far for a Sunday ride for me then
  16. I might if I knew where it was
  17. Self amalgamating tape would be a better option in this case.
  18. We did, and a couple of the lads have asked if we can do it again later this year. I think they must have enjoyed it
  19. The motley crew on the Eurotunnel train Richard snapped me while setting up for the group shot on the train. Bikes tucked up for the night outside our hotel in Boulogne. Some more photos below. (click to expand some of them) Boulogne Ibis: width=1000http://www.poqit.com/duffers_2019/IMG_20190429_153116.jpg[/img] In the bar. Not just any bar, mind. Just the nearest one. The Vole Hole, Better than expected. L-R: John, Rae, Glen: width=1000http://www.poqit.com/duffers_2019/IMG_20190429_172447.jpg[/img] La Grillardine, Boulogne centre. Like eating in someones house. 10 seats downstairs, and the same upstairs. Recommended. Now, why would several restuarants in Boulogne want to sell Welsh rarebit? Is there some tenuous connection across the channel? Tasty anyway: width=1000http://www.poqit.com/duffers_2019/IMG_20190429_194819.jpg[/img] Lunch break at Dieppe. They dug the whole of the shopping street up that we intended to eat on, so we hit the boulangerie, and then camped out in the bar. Needs must, etc: width=1000http://www.poqit.com/duffers_2019/IMG_20190430_130941.jpg[/img] Petrol stop, with blossoming cherry. Very pleasant weather: width=1000http://www.poqit.com/duffers_2019/IMG_20190430_141925.jpg[/img] View from the Deauville Ibis. Ibis might be the Premier Inn de France, but all three hotels were in fabulous locations. This one had under-street secure parking for the bikes. Hats off to Rae for getting the trip all sorted! width=1000http://www.poqit.com/duffers_2019/IMG_20190430_155438.jpg[/img] A pint or two in Deauville town centre. And some fabulous French cider for me: width=1000http://www.poqit.com/duffers_2019/IMG_20190430_172510.jpg[/img] Lucian and Glen at Deauville town hall: width=1000http://www.poqit.com/duffers_2019/IMG_20190430_205417.jpg[/img] Deauville beach at sunset: width=1000http://www.poqit.com/duffers_2019/IMG_20190430_211042.jpg[/img] 2k euros to moor your yacht per annum. Cheaper then a UK narrow boat licence? The guy was getting ready to race from Deauville -> Cowes -> Le Havre. 10 hours, if the wind blows. Indeterminate if not: width=1000http://www.poqit.com/duffers_2019/IMG_20190430_212719.jpg[/img] Only in France. It's even worse after a few pints: width=1000http://www.poqit.com/duffers_2019/IMG_20190430_224515.jpg[/img] Douai bar, May Day: width=1000http://www.poqit.com/duffers_2019/IMG_20190501_182508.jpg[/img] Douai bar - all the youngsters were out in force, since its a French bank holiday. There were some French people there too. width=1000http://www.poqit.com/duffers_2019/IMG_20190501_184215.jpg[/img] Douai Disneyland! But how do you get in? (it's the town hall, but quite funky): width=1000http://www.poqit.com/duffers_2019/IMG_20190501_215917.jpg[/img]

  21. I've got to see this, let me know when you are going, I'll tag along and take pictures
  22. The French Duffers 2019 trip is almost upon us again. We are back to the normal format this year, 3 nights in France and then back home with another night in the UK for the more northern members. Monday 29th April sees us off to Boulogne, Tuesday 30th it’s Deauville and Wednesday 1st May Douai. Wellingborough on the 2nd is our UK stop. There are six of us this time around. I am sure there will be some photos to post up in due course.
  23. That is where your superior power comes in handy sometimes to get off the line and be gone before they realise what's happening. Slowing to give them room also works.
