  1. nope there is no airbox drains around there, i have seen that happen on my friends R6 and thought it was oil I did run it to above standard temp and gave it a good rev but nothing, to be honest its a bit risky taking it back the track to find a oil leak while razzing around The oil level is fine smack in the middle of the min and max. I think i will change the Alternator cover gasket never the less, its not a big job and i have a load of gasket paper and glue. thanks
  2. Was at oulton park couple of weeks ago, Was the last lap of a session and gave it full throttle down the back straight under the bridge after the double apex, the bike seem to loose power (like it was lacking petrol) but within a split second caught itself and power kicked back in. However when getting back the paddock i had a oil spray across my Alternator casing, and then a dribble down the fairing under the case. it was wet and cold so i loaded the bike on trailer and not had a chance to look until yesterday and cant find anything after cleaning it up. I left the bike running untill at or just over standard temp and gave it a Good Rev! nothing appears to leak, i am hoping its the case gasket and not a head gasket or one in the engine block. its a ZX6r '99 (G) am seeing if anyone can advise possiblities? http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e293/BoB3rt/IMG_0553.jpg http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e293/BoB3rt/IMG_0556.jpg http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e293/BoB3rt/IMG_0554.jpg There is a dirst patch but it is not leaking oil from the gasket above the oil was across and around the alternator gasket but nothing when i ran it http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e293/BoB3rt/IMG_0557-1.jpg I have no idea what this hole is there for and cant find it in the haynes manual or a picture to see if it should be open??? thanks
  3. He's doing Fantastic, Got ALL my support. There was talk about him not having certain brakes and dovi does have them? is this an upgrade they where testing with dovi or?
  4. I will be going to see them again!!!
  5. Just wondering what others preferences are however mine is: TT > MotoGp > BSB > Moto 2 > WSB But i like the fact TT is once a year and NW200/Southen100 etc. Hardly ever watch SBK! Just cant get into it, the teams, the rivals or the bikes 0.o ?

    Floating Discs

Yes, in a word. The "cotton reels" that "rivet" the 2 parts together should be loose, allowing the disc to move slightly, hence the "floating". Thank you !

    Floating Discs

Should discs have a bit of give (movement) in them? from the joins of the inner part. obviously not from the bolts haha. I have one solid and one with play in on the front wheel. However just bought a spare set and bother have play on the front, guy said they should have and are called 'floating' ...? cheers
  8. Another day booked! gis a shout if ya going...
  9. Yep as stu said, only more common on the track unless your giving the beans on the road. You will have heard the commentator also say the brake lever would have come all the way back ie. no brakes! Hence he then pumped the brake asap and popped the back wheel up. Unfortunate really, think he would have held 1st
  10. ok bit delayed but here it is: Started off ok, but most of the bends are so misleading... look tighter than they are! ... redgate looks sweeping but is quite sharp to start off with. I was off the pace all day though just couldnt seem to get my braking points down, easing of the throttle before breaking. Craner was great best part of the track and by far my quickest section. i had alot of problems with the hair pins especially the first one, i would constantly run wide on the exit regarless of running wider into the bend?! I think i was a little tired for the day hence poor breaking and even corner speeds. had a few hairy moments but hey thats why i do it... but the worse was after going under the bridge by craner and you squeeze left before the right hander, roughly about 110mph, some idiot runs on the outside of me clips my bike and take my brake lever off!! not a sorry, wave, kiss my arse... nothing!! by the time i settled the bike down and noticed my brake was not there he'd f**ked off !.... still am fine and alive, hes still an arse however. sure he didnt mean it but still.... so new levers (smaller) on the way and caldwell park is booked for 20th oct. heres some pictures from donny though:
  11. On my way now, been watching video after video of Donington but as with Anglesey which I did last, not gonna learn it till am on it ! Will post through the day my findings and some pics if get a chance.
  12. I will be there ... Shot in the dark but anyone else?
  13. hey, i first noticed this about 2-3 months ago. there was a slight movment or could feel a click in my bars when braking, however at this time no else could feel this if they had a go but i suppose i know my bike best. well it has gotten worse and there is definatly slight movment at the top side of the stem by the bar (or at least this is how it feels) it moves forward ever so slight when braking and sometimes can feel it go back to its original position. again it is so slight but i can feel it in my hands like a click or a nudge. caused no problems however best to get it sorted. will this most likely be the stem bearings that need replacing... the yoke is on tight and nothing appears to be loose. Thanks Rob
  14. Hey, Figured i would place this in the racing part as this is done alot more on the track and its where i am struggling. I am wondering how exacly the technique for changing down a gear is done? being on the track not so long ago i am trying to break knock down and rev the engine up as bringing the cluch out so there in time yet still needing to slow down. now am no racer however watch racers they dont half rev there engine and appear not to be breaking, presumign they get there correct speed into the bend before changing down? or.... little confused? however i am just a little worried about locking up the back which i have done a few times.... may look cool for the spectators angle as i can handle it and pull it into a corner but on the bike it is fricken scarey still i suppose i wouldnt be on the track if it wasnt for them moments

    Chain tool

hey, Does anyone have a chain tool i can borrow? i will pay for full postage and will have it no more than a day. I thought i had bought a diffrent type chain, and without looking i went ahead and put the new sprockets on, so cant exacly ride it to a garage to be sorted. figured this would be worth a shot. many thanks!
  16. see now i thought about using the same lid again because i dnt remember banging my head i just heared it getting scuffed along the floor... however is it really worth the risk? is there any way to check if there is cracks through it ovbiously if i looks ok from the outsided. al try taking the linning out, still i think i would preffer a decent lid for the road as there is alot more to bounce off and hit... i suppose other than your bike or someone elses bike your ok on the track. unless its a high-side with a headfirst to the floor (which gives me a shiver thinking about it) still am looking at the £200 mark and looking at suomys still btw phil i replied to my angelsey thread in the track section but you can prob guess wah happened haha. thanks peeps!
  17. Indeed my old man has a suomy and they have quite a name for themselves now. I will check there rating and pop down a local shop to get a fitting. There only about £150-200.. but want to keep it low. Cheers!
  18. ok so scuffed and banged my £300 baby on the track so it's new lid time! However I know it's all about the fit but am thinking of getting two now; road and track. looking for opinions of good cheaper helmets for the track (not an AGV fan - plus dnt fit well) rather than £300 a pop wen I come off, if I do not like am planning onit but it happens. and get a decent road one. but... if am going faster on track am better with the more expensive (assuming better built) lid to save my life?! so am bit stuck? or just get one lid coz u can get hit on road as much as come off on track. Constructive opinions? Cheers!
  19. 2 days of glorious sunshine... the Gsxr750 was a total beast! and after getting used to it had it flat out and was planting my knee comfortably every corner... (on sunday(costal) bearly clipping the corkscrew!) but including the big straight (right hander) was a great track but even though the international is bigger the costal is far more demanding and for that reason alot better! i see what you mean there is plenty of elervation in it aswell... i think i still preffer oulton but it is a great track and the weekend was a hoot ! HOWEVER: last lap of the second to last session - 'Rocket In' bloody low sided my first off though and i just strained my ankle abit but its all strapped up and on my desk now. Bike was fine the £25 crash bungs were the best investment ever lol. unfortunatly need a new lid but the leathers will fight another day.. just little scuffs but my sholder plating did its job well worth the money! missed the last session but am not too fussed it was a spot on weekend! shame i was a little silly i should have went grass tracking but was trying to slow down and get round the bend... hey i only passed may 2010 and i was a fast intermediate. Cant wait for the next one! over and out !
  20. Indeed that is alot better however the only other thing that worries me is the bike charges the battery with the alternator and its worrying if it over charges it?!
  21. And if you didnt know, its nothing to worry about but this only means the battery will last for 1 hour if all the consumers ie headlight, tail light etc etc were drawing 9 amps of current, if they were drawing 4.5amps then obviously it will last 2 hours.(Allegedly..dont take it as gospel as newer bikes need a good voltage for the ecu's etc to function) Like the masses say if it fits then it will be ok, the only thing you really need to worry about is CCA (Cold Cranking Amps), lets say your starter needs 225CCA and the new battery is 180CCA, the starter will still try and draw 225A from the battery, the starter wont get the current it needs so cables will get hot, which will change the resistance and may make the cables breakdown, melt etc etc Is this just when the bike is starting then? The gsxr has been started with the ZX battery plenty of times and goes first try... fits fine in the tray and connections are he righ way round.
  22. the ZX6R uses a CTX9-BS The GSXR uses a CT12A -BS (i know he CT is just he manufacurer though) but the 9 and 12 look a bit worrying lol. am sure the ZX6r is 12Volt batery though... it fits the casing fine wih the connections he right way too.
  23. hey, I have a track bike am going to use every now and then bu have a 2 day session tthis coming weekend and dont know weather to fork out for a battery or use my ZX6r battery which i have used to tick over the GSXR750. Am presuming it is not a gud idea as the diffrent alternators will charge the ZX6r battery wrong or too much? and if the gsxr is going to be at constant high revs .. it will charge! anyone help me on this or simply buy a battery?
  24. Ahh it doesnt appear that way in the videos! I get the best of both worlds Sat is the international! and Sun costal Am just going over some last minute checks with bike as i have not ridden her properly yet ! Cant wait weather is to be cracking the flags aswell
  25. can't wait ! 2 Days of Track watched a few videos and it doesnt seem to have many elevations in it?
