  1. ... or not in my case . But I am looking to install a cigarette lighter connection to my bike. I am going to be doing some minor touring soon and would be great for phone/gps. quick look on ebay and there isnt much i can find, however there are a few tutorials around the net how its done. Has anybody here done this? i can imagin it to be an extremly handy thing to have on your bike. cheers PS. I was going to put this in the 'Pits' part, but i figured it also about the idea of having it not just 'How To?' Ahhh my findings: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/12v-MOTORCYCLE-WA ... 27b0a4ceff not bad for a Fiver?
  2. Since passing my licence about a month ago, many people are amazed to find i have a bike licence and not a car licence... so i figured is it the norm to get a car licence first? I will ask the audience.
  3. Personally i would go for White or Yellow first.... red and black however are hard to choose between! erm...flip a coin? best of 3. I got Red. Voted.
  4. Yeah i been doing some reading up, and although i have not found it reffered to 'Tight spots' i presumed the bearings would be the cause. Will try tommorrow if not in the week to get the front wheel up, they proberly do need changing dout they would have been done before plus with it been laid up for awhile. If it was too tight on the stem would that not effect steering in both directions? never-the-less i will check them. This (as most with bikes) is a new one to me so when you say needles and not ball what ones am i looking for? i have found these, are they 'needles' - more rollin pins than balls: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ZX6R-G-J-1-2-98-0 ... 19bb7e5611 Cheers for the help guys, pretty scary not being able to turn properly/smoothly!
  5. I LoL'd Perhaps Steer clear of other women, unless you have deep pockets ?
  6. Hi, Been riding my ZX6 about 3 days and noticed the bike has trouble going to the right, Example: Was in wales earlier for a bit of a mooch and came to this right hand bend and I just seemed to continue straight, heading towards the grass verge followed by trees Slowed down with rear brake as i was now coming into the bend, still leaning and trying to turn.... having little affect i was still going to hit the side. put the rear brake on more as first instinct, next fing the rear end was swinging out managed to control it and applied front brake coming to pretty much a slow roll right next to the verge! So i have heared of tight spots, and as the bike has been layed up for 18months before this am presuming it is one. I have looked for information but not really found much. can anyone enlighten me what a tight spot acctully is, and even better how do you get them out?? Going around larger round abouts can be a pain.. going slower to push/lean the bike round.... Cheers.
  7. general crap collectted from the air, could also be bit of carbon from fumes on roads? my guess was gonna be choke... took me a minute to figure that wen I first got my bike haha.
  8. Indeed they do, did not see that bit thanks. Except i have the feeling this is only for the products displayed on the site... i have an older style can. Never the less i will give them an email anyways Cheers !
  9. I was thinking of leaving the baffles out, but i am a bit of a novice at the minute and recently passed so rather not draw attention to myself. I have a Blue Flame end can, but it is niether marked as road legal or not. At the minute it has no baffles in, but i would like to put some in to reduce the chance off being tugged by the plod. I read on the Blue Flame site that all there end cans are road legal, so i can only presume this is ment by them using removable baffles ? anyone know this? i am going to email them and enquire about it, and possably see if i can get a replacment. If not i would like to get a universal one and as you've said one that fits to reduce problems. Thanks for the advice up to now!
  10. just a quick question... can you use a range of baffles for a brand of end can of does it have to be from the same brand? also when adding a baffle can u make it road legal depending on the baffle you use? cheers

    Engine Coolant?

ok, am not sure if my radiator is aliminium or not.... would it do any harm getting a alloy coolant anyways even if it is not? I have already drained the old coolant and flushed the resevouir out... once the new radiator is on i will flush the system with clean water and then add new coolant. to be honest if i kept old coolant i wouldnt have mixed them anyways. fitting radiator tomorrow first job am doing on bike.... other than change bar ends ha. EDIT: went on to look at halfords coolants/antifreeze, there are two types before and after 1998 - Sod's Law mine is a '98 model so which do i get? http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... yId_229902 ?? Plus there is a couple ie. diffrent colours. and then theres OAT types all so confusing... i could really do with someone saying "this one, you want this one!" to be on the safe side. Sorry.

    Engine Coolant?

I am changing my radiator in the coming week and will need new coolant, is there a specific one to get or a better one to get or really any such will do the trick. looked on the bay, but only one type comes up. I gave a ZX6R(1999) cheers EDIT: This is what i was looking at; http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Engine-Ice-Race-C ... 3cabb93712 I hope am ok to post that.
  13. sh*t sorry thought i was in pitstop... i did 12v for about 40 minutes and seemed to do the trick had her ticking over for a bit. # Thanks !
  14. Battery is a bit dead, so need to charge it. Although its new its being a bit tempramental, so will probably invest in a new one. However just charging it up for 30mins to tick the bike over and my charger has a 12v option or a 6v option... nothing about amps although that is what is mentioned on the battery. So do i use 12v or 6v? cheers
  15. went and had a good look around my area yesterday, couldnt find the boots i wanted or nothing that took my intrest either. kinda reluctant to pick a pair and get them straight from the internet... not so much for the size but for the fitting being comfortable. still the Berik boots seem to be popular and no complaints, but then an mcn review on the oxfords was great. pffft. Cheers
  16. I am looking for some new boots at ~£100 Oxford bone drys R9 have caught my eye. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/OXFORD-BONE-DRY-R ... 3ef350c4db But more recently Berik 1196 GPX caught my attension. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Berik-1196-GPX-WP ... 335c05826b Does anybody have either of these, or voice an opinion? I would do the usual try them on what fits best idea but not sure were i can get my hands on some. thanks
  17. Yo Just wondering if anyone has or knows were i can pick up a 33bhp Restrictor kit till i pass my DAS. Could be upto 2 months based on the apparent backlog of tests...? Although i know the kits fit all carbs, mine is a 1998 ZX6R - G1. Many thanks
  18. Hi, Currently buying and looking for new (or used) gear as i will pass my test soon, and still not 100% on items so opinions would help there is a few things i've looked at so rather than make a topic for each item.... better this way. Current Gear: I already have a typical leather jacket, in good condition bearly worn. Pair of alpinestar boots SMX4 but they are slightly too big so need diffrent pair (tried thicker socks - dont work). Have an alpine texture jacket with arm and sholder (possably back aswell) protectors although this is rather wide for me so windblast can be an issue. Also just got a set of used (good condition obviously) IXS Leather pants. An finally i have just bought my lid, Shoei XR1100 Possable new/replacment: - Firstly am not made of money so trying to keep the cost down as much as (hence used gear). so from the top i am looking for another jacket to replace the Texture but i dont mind another leather, I like the simple zip up the middle. there are some on Ebay although for £80 am presuming they are not that well made? there are Spada ones i like but pricey...so would the Cheaper one do job or safer with known brands (as i have read the sticky about buying kit in the forum) I need Pants! as the IXS ones (£15 ) i just got are only ones i have.. was using plain jeans before that ! so looking at some draggin' jeans and red route and hood jeans.... are they all similar or which tends to have best bang for buck? I am not being lazy by the way i am spending hours flicking through pages doing research but best opinions are usually owners or riders. For boots i was looking at THESE as again i cant really afford higher priced ones although the Oxford bonedrys are tempting to. Any advice or opinions, even recommendations would be helpful. Cheers Rob Ps. sorry if links to external sites/retailers are not allowed.
  19. http://www.motoraid.eu/shop/images/xr-1100_BLACK.jpg Got it yestaday
  20. Hi, Sorry if this is an obvious or silly Question (get used to it, am not far off passing test so have alot to learn) but i am looking at some 32" waist leather pants and the inside leg is 28" which is not the average ?! so i am presuming they are made like this as they will stop above or by ur ankles because your boots will fit over them? Am i a winner? ha Rob

  23.
