    Fix a Hugger?

The Damage http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e293/BoB3rt/DSCF4398.jpg http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e293/BoB3rt/DSCF4395.jpg ok i will pop to halfords tomorrow to see about the strips, but i may do some plastic welding later in the winter as i am thinking of respraying. bit gutted, but it also looks like it has cracked in a tension spot... ovbiously that would be the most likely place to split but seems to been force fitted! thanks for the help here!

    Fix a Hugger?

ello, noticed a crack on my rear hugger getting increasingly larger over the past month... today i think i found that the problem is the lock i secure the bike with when at my girlfriends, i think it has been catching on the long thinner part that covers the chain and been bending it well now this crack is rather large and i suppose if i dnt try to amend it soon its going to snap altogether!! is there a way to patch up these flimsy plastics or will i have to buy a new one and spray it thanks!
  6. I tend to be leaning towards the Daytona myself if anything because they are not every other bike you see on the road (like the CBR) but at the same time i do like the CBR's and enjoy the repsol colours: with regards to the colours having a bike all together i suppose is being a bit diffrent - at least in britain. and you dont see many cars with more than one colour but plenty of sports bikes do even if they aren't race replicas eg. my ZX Green/Purple so i see what you mean its not going to be on a track or raced (as such) but... it's to be diffrent and it looks the shiz! anyways, i just figured that if CBR's are so popular there must be a reason. Am realy just trying to way up all the pros and cons without personal prefferances such as looks and colours. ie handling, reliable.... and the best way is usually peoples first hand experience. the comment of the cbr not having as much middle caught my attention and the fact the daytona has a strong engine again has swayed me to looking further into the trumph plus having the extra power from a 675 might be a nice step up. still will the cbr hold its price more? parts easier to get etc ? few daytonas about for just over £4k.... quite alot on a popular auction site keep em comments coming! even if it is just ... " that bike looks nicer " haha
  7. Yo, I've had a few brain waves over the past week and am thinking of playing with about ~£4,000 now i could rant on about ideas to keep my ZX6R and things to do to it, or get track bike etc... Or show you the bikes am intrested in and get some personal opinions - everyone likes to vote 1) Daytona 675 http://www.modifbike.info/wp-content/plugins/wp-o-matic/cache/053b8_daytona-675-2006.jpg 2) CBR 600 Repsol http://i430.photobucket.com/albums/qq29/andrewp2485/764.jpg Any other sujestions please fire away, i do like some R6's aswell as i have been able to have ago of a friends but preffer the earlier models and cant afford the newer '08 onwards. Also a friend has a CBR600 but yet to have a go and i don't know anyone that has a Daytona 675 but OMG cheers
  8. I was tempted... but its a little far for being on my own
  9. yo, me and a few friends are heading down for the British Superbike event, is anyone else going as it's quite local? will be camping for the weekend, as it doesn't cost much more than just the Sunday.
  10. ok, well I will just leave the monster ones I have on now as they are only in small parts as I said so should be fine just me being fussy.
  11. I put them in warm-ish water using only soap on the inside. I then put them on the line to dry out and gave the inside a good coating of fabreeze as they were still a bit damp. seems ok now but they seem like there gonna get funky again soon! need proper summer gloves!!
  12. better getting it sprayed then? although my helmet and leathers aren't covered on my insurance anyhow.
  13. Yo, Firstly sorry if this is not in the correct section not sure if should be in mods. Anyways i bought a XR1100 shoei a couple of months back but could only afford plane black, although i wanted a graphic i figured better spending the money on a better helmet. so i have been looking for some graphics to add to my helemet and found a set off monster stickers which do look good being black and green.... although there is still alot of space around the helemt (specially on top) I was wondering if there are any full helmet sets you can buy, for example: a Carl Crutchlow vinyl set or just generic designs. anyone seen this or is there just seperate stickers. cheers
  14. yo, I have a set of 'all season' gloves, although thats a load of poo coz when it gets warm its not like they have removable linning. Anyways they are starting to smell is it ok to bung them in a washer or have them soak or will it ruin the leather ? i realise they could take some time to dry out! cheers
  15. woops sorry for the delayed reply, i bought a socket the day after posting arrived today, with an in-line 10amp fuse(blade) which am thinking of lowering to 5amp. has a little red light on aswell, so i definatly have to attach it to an ignition wire.. or i could be waking up to a dead battery! thanks for all the help. i wouldnt have the guttes to cut up my fairing although i was thinking of doing it through the air intake on ZX G1. cheers!
  16. aye, looking at a gud £900 set that a dude highsided on and scuffed the sholder and elbow.... so :S Other than that how do Spyke rank in the world of leathers they seem to have somne decent sets for about 3-400. cheers again!
  17. I am currently looking at 1 and 2 piece second hand suits...i figured if i could keep the cost down, but only have a max of £400 if i decide to push the boat out. How unrecommended is it to use scuffed leathers... basically after 1 fall ? i see alot of people down at meets/pub with marks and scuffs, although i wouldnt buy them just to look the part (ie worn knee sliders), i fink ya look better spotless ! cheers
  18. Hey, Never owned a one piece before (not suprising as only been riding best part of 2 months) however am looking to fork out about £400 for one. had a nose at some Arlen Ness, Spada, and Alpine and Berick.... there really a few to choose from but really i need advice! Is it a case of go try some on? if so i dout its that easy, cant exacly get naked in hein gerick haha still what is good for the price? I got to admit i fancy the magnesium plates on the sholders etc . and am looking for a universal colour (black, grey, white) i have a Kwak at the min and not many green leathers about plus i will proberly upgrade in the new year. So any help would be appresiated Cheers
  19. ... or not in my case . But I am looking to install a cigarette lighter connection to my bike. I am going to be doing some minor touring soon and would be great for phone/gps. quick look on ebay and there isnt much i can find, however there are a few tutorials around the net how its done. Has anybody here done this? i can imagin it to be an extremly handy thing to have on your bike. cheers PS. I was going to put this in the 'Pits' part, but i figured it also about the idea of having it not just 'How To?' Ahhh my findings: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/12v-MOTORCYCLE-WA ... 27b0a4ceff not bad for a Fiver?
  20. Since passing my licence about a month ago, many people are amazed to find i have a bike licence and not a car licence... so i figured is it the norm to get a car licence first? I will ask the audience.
  21. Personally i would go for White or Yellow first.... red and black however are hard to choose between! erm...flip a coin? best of 3. I got Red. Voted.
  22. Yeah i been doing some reading up, and although i have not found it reffered to 'Tight spots' i presumed the bearings would be the cause. Will try tommorrow if not in the week to get the front wheel up, they proberly do need changing dout they would have been done before plus with it been laid up for awhile. If it was too tight on the stem would that not effect steering in both directions? never-the-less i will check them. This (as most with bikes) is a new one to me so when you say needles and not ball what ones am i looking for? i have found these, are they 'needles' - more rollin pins than balls: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ZX6R-G-J-1-2-98-0 ... 19bb7e5611 Cheers for the help guys, pretty scary not being able to turn properly/smoothly!
  23. I LoL'd Perhaps Steer clear of other women, unless you have deep pockets ?
  24. Hi, Been riding my ZX6 about 3 days and noticed the bike has trouble going to the right, Example: Was in wales earlier for a bit of a mooch and came to this right hand bend and I just seemed to continue straight, heading towards the grass verge followed by trees Slowed down with rear brake as i was now coming into the bend, still leaning and trying to turn.... having little affect i was still going to hit the side. put the rear brake on more as first instinct, next fing the rear end was swinging out managed to control it and applied front brake coming to pretty much a slow roll right next to the verge! So i have heared of tight spots, and as the bike has been layed up for 18months before this am presuming it is one. I have looked for information but not really found much. can anyone enlighten me what a tight spot acctully is, and even better how do you get them out?? Going around larger round abouts can be a pain.. going slower to push/lean the bike round.... Cheers.
