  1. Has it got a fan fitted? that should come on above a certain temp if it does.
  2. May well be attending, only down the road silly not to. If i go i'll give you a shout on here, maybe meet you somewhere.
  3. If none of the lights are on, it's probably an electrical fault. Has it got a kick start? Can you kick it over? It got a main fuse on it atall?
  4. You got lights up? hit the starter does it turn over atall? It been standing for a while? Better putting this in pitstop really.
  5. Take the bulb out not sure, but without wanting to state the obvious, i'd say see if there's a problem with the fuel injection. Might get more help in pitstop
  6. Thought about taking the foam out and replacing it with a lump of gel? You can buy it in roughly seat sized pieces fairly cheap.
  7. In practice, I agree with RT, and doubt i'd ever bother with a flush. But you can get special products for flushing, you sling it in, run it up for a few minutes to let it circulate, then drain it off and fill up.
  8. Cheers mate, seems better so that is good. Another question now... What will changing the engine oil do for performance etc? I'm thinking of changing it, but don't know what oil to get and how much to use? I havbe an aprilia rs 125 2003 bike. There is no "engine oil" as such, unless you mean the oil you put in the oil tank. You've also got gear box oil you can change on a stroker.
  9. Had this broom 15 years...6 handles and 12 heads..... I was thinking about this the other day, when is a bike finished. I think Voodoo's right, from what i've heard the actual engine engine will bang on forever, i've seen blackbirds with 200,000 miles on the clock still running. But all those other things will start to need replacing, more and more so until it's costing alot just to keep it going.
  10. In a 2 stroke engine, I imagine all that can get pressure escape are either piston rings being nackered or the cylinder walls being damaged. Seeing as how you've just done this rebuild i'd hope the rings were perfect aslong as they've been run in right. Did you rebore the cylinder or anything? Other thing is, all pressure testing equipment has to, at some point, be calibrated. Do you know this compression tester to be accurate. I don't mean to joke, but have you screwed the compression tester right in, because if not it could be losing pressure round the threads? What's the pressure supposed to be?
  11. I'd be well up for this. Are literally all bikes leaving from the ace? I've seen a few groups of bikes on motorways but never with me on one, looks amazing.
  12. That's a valve stem oil seal, but, as far as I know power valves are a 2 stroke thing? But 2 strokes dont have valves
  13. A bike that old your best bet is probably ebay. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/kawasaki-gpz-600-carbs-GPZ-GPX-spares-parts-fuel_W0QQitemZ270425488372QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Motorcycle_Parts?hash=item3ef69d7bf4&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12|66%3A2|39%3A1|72%3A1683|293%3A1|294%3A50
  14. Given the carbs a good old clean out?
  15. Sounds good to me, some people pay extra for that, just leave it, safe in the knowledge that you look awesom.

    Breakdown...

How low on oil? When you hit the starter button is there a click, anything? See I'd say the starter or the relay or the battery was dead, but it just stopping dead like that is odd. When it stopped did it lock the back wheel up or did you roll to a stop?
  17. Glad it's sorted mate, overtaking at 80 or 90 is exactly when you don't want these issues!. Keep yourself shiney side up won't you
  18. Is it a bandit S? If so there's gotta be a spare bit of space behind that front fairng. Rennie's right though, hard work now will make it much more secure.

    RG Gamma 125

I doubt the engine of 400 would even nearly fit in the frame of the 125, because it's so much bigger, and I don't quite know how you planned on doing it, but it would never ever run right at 125cc. Tbh I think it would be very very very hard to do this, apart from a custom crank shaft and taller pisto.....this is silly, it aint happenin'! Is the bike of any kind of, nostalgic worth if you like? Is it a classic? Like the Yam. RD 350? Because if not, You're wasting your time and probably alot of money with it. what needs doing? talking about the egine I take it that that's got issues, with a 2 stroke you'll probably want a new head+barrel+piston, and that's gonna cost you alot and without prior knowledge, a hell of a lot of time to do. Like KJA said I think maybe bust it for parts and sell them on ebay is your best financial bet. In terms of getting yourself a bike to ride, you can pick up a bike in near road worthy condition for maybe £500. Hell, you can have my old 125 for £450 if you want it! It's fine apart from I think the piston rings are going, but for whatever reason it's burning oil when cold. This would be a fairly big job to do, but it'd get you on the road.
  20. Cheers kja. I will do if this doesn't work, at very least i need to get a second shim. I just can't find my copper grease, the damn stuff's always there when you're looking for anything else. Refit and short ride to see what's what.
  21. Cheers kja. I've heard nothing but good things about braided hoses, bar the extra cost on rubbers. I might consider it if i'm ever trying to up the braking power. Just want to stop the buggers squeeking.
  22. They're EBC something or others, the model numbers been rubbed off by the piston. I've just realised i've only got 1 shim! I guess I should replace this at some point. There's been no lack in performance from the brakes atall, they stop me right up and they'll lock the wheel if I push them hard, just they squeek like mad-not cool. Cheers pete i'll give the pins a scratch and see how they come up.
  23. My back brake was squeeking horribley, So I thought i'd get the pads out to see if they're nackered. THey've got plenty of meat left on them so i think i'll just scuff them up and put some brake cleaner on them. My questions are: 1. With regards copper grease, does it just go in a thin layer on the back of the pad? 2. The pins i've removed look really rusty, and it's my understanding the brakes are supposed to slide along them freely. Should i try and scuff them back to better metal and should I then lightly grease them? thanks Bill
  24. Try holding the gear shifter up as you let the clutch out. This seems to sort it for most people
