Hi All, I dropped from a bit too high one of my OEM VFR1200 pannier and the lid broke. Coupled to the other pannier already damaged after an unfortunate move in a camping that scratched and cracked it (the trees fault, not mine ): I cannot really use them anymore and superglue did not work. The hard sad fact is that those OEM panniers cost a lot $$$$ Here are the solutions I thought about and investigating. My apologises if I sound like a complicated biker : . DIY fix. Superglue as mentioned did not work at all. Nor the duck tape (current temp fix) works. The issue is not only visual, but also practical, I cannot close easily the boxes and it's getting worse as little bits fall off from time to time, plus waterproof is no longer. . Get a pro to fix just the lids or make new ones: lids-only-fix businesses I found were in the US or Switzerland. If you know someone in the UK, I am listening. Although I wonder if it would really be cheaper than getting new OEM set. . Buy non-OEM panniers (soft or hard, does not matter to me). Can become an expensive option as well for hard side boxes, and involves mounting bars for both soft and hard. And here the issue becomes visual. A sport-tourer with those bars is painfully ugly to see. Unless you know of some discreet/designed systems or maybe something very simple to take on/off. . Give up on panniers and add second dry bag on the sit behind Any solution you could think of maybe? Thx

À safe bet for amazing roads, stick to the east of France. Go down Alsace, then through Vosges then Jura, from there go to the Alps, head for Gorges du Verdon in Provence, follow the coast in Languedoc Roussillon and cherry on the cake, my favourite road: from Perpignan to Andorra, that road seem tailored for bikers . The bike: CBF600 na year 2005 Couple of weeks ago, I took the bike and left for my usual daily commute: but that day it struggled to get up in rev, lacking overall power, the acceleration of an old 50cc scooter. During about 5 min (2-3 miles) and then everything feels fine. And would do anytime the bike is cold since. I brought it to the garage and they say they cannot find what's wrong. They say maybe it just take time to warm up. To me why then it never did that previous years. Even in Switzerland where I drove in colder temperatures than I do here. I think something is wrong. Anyone would have experienced this issue? thx pit

I went check a bit on VFR1200 forums. Pilot Road tyres seems to be popular, even non GT versions have a good mileage they say. Feels like I will go for the road 5 in the end . I will tour early May, can test them out .. and let you know. Pit

Hello, In 2 years I had 2 front and 3 rears.. for-not-that-many-miles, thus I know as a fact that sport type tyres are not economic on a heavy bike such as the VFR1200. Rear is 1mm legal, so I am thinking this time to switch to something bit more adapted and my 2 contenders are the new T31 and new Road 5. Both seems really good investments, and I am thinking to go for Michelin Road 5, but the final reason is rather subjective: I like the pattern . I also like the feeling of Michelin tyres on the road (very hard to explain). However I have Bridgestone on the cbf 600 and know how good their tyres are. What do you think? what would you choose pit

Bike gears is like an insurance. The day you crash, it could make the difference between jumping back on the bike straight away and a wheelchair (thinking of the overlooked back protectors). Just some thoughts. pit

Hello and thanks for the suggestions. I don't think it is the batterie because there is a 1 yo one in the bike, and the issue existed before, and continued after I changed it. I need to MOT it, I will also ask to check the bike.

For about 2 years, my CBF600, when starting cold in the morning, struggles a bit sometimes = would takes 2-3 tries before it starts. I thought that might be old spark plugs responsible, which I changed 2 days ago... and still exactly the same issue. Thus is not the spark plugs. Also if it does anything I had a year ago the carburators aligned, which also did not have any impact on the start issue. I just did a oil and filter change, still nothing different. I am wondering... before I take it into the garage. If someone would have an idea?

Hi ROBERTSF Would love to join, missing Switzerland (I was living in Basel couple of years) but I am planning Scotland tour very very soon, so I had to make a choice, can't do both. If you are heading to Switzerland Alps, you should definitely pass through the Black Forest in South Germany. Truly amazing roads and sceneries of the Grimm tales there If going down to Spain maybe before crossing the French/Spanish border try the pyerenee road from the coast (Perpignan) to Andorra: another road you will love (feels like designed for bikers) and takes half a day to complete. pit

Hello All I dropped my VFR1200 OEM pannier from barely above a meter high and it broke, like well broken. The other Pannier is already broken. At the cost of a pair of OEM honda panniers and the fragility of them combined to the hard fact I officially got 2 left hands. I am looking for alternatives and accepted the fact new ones might not look as good. GIVI seems all around the place: but can I drop the box and only deal with a scratch? Also, owning some SW-Motech stuff, I know this company build high quality bike equipments. Any other brands you know or use? pit

On the equipment list: maybe consider getting yourself a back protector. Can make the difference between jumping back straight on the bike and a wheelchair for life. The back is super useful and super fragile. Like the head. pit
