With the indicator on wiggle the bulb and if it works the problem is in the holder so check where the bulb sits for corrosion.
Loose wire, check the connector where the indicator connects to the bike loom.
I have tried that and gave it a wiggle. It didn't come on though, also the bulb holder looks free of any corrosion

So out on a ride yesterday, on way back not far from home and I indicate left and notice the rapid flash on the speedo. Front left indicator is not flashing.
When I got home took bulb out, looked ok but I swapped it with right hand and it worked. problem solved I thought until I rode about 10 meters down the road today and it stopped working at my first left turn.
I have tried a new bulb tonight but with no joy, so sure its not bulb. Anything else I can try before trying to source a replacement indicator?

I've gone for a GIVI tank bag. Had it delivered to my wifes work today. I can picture her now, all excited about a delivery assuming it was some valentines flowers....but no, it's my tank bag.
-
So I went in to a local shop today. As I expected they didn't stock the Kreiga range but he did show me some magnetic tank bags. I liked the idea, looks like a very quick on/off. they had Givi and Oxfords models. Givi looked better but twice the price. Decisions decisions.

Thanks. Will see if I can track one down.

Noticed this when changing the brake pads recently

Should there be some kind of bracket there?? I know I didn't take it off so I guess it's been missing for some time. Also what is it called If I want to pick up a new one.

Thanks all. Kreiga looks promising then. Hopefully it's a quick on/off design, looks good though.

Hello all,
I'm after a tail bag (i think). I have been using a RST rucksack since last May. Does the job but can me annoying especially during the summer(anyone remember summer?) and restricts airflow and make back very hot. I'm thinking of tail bag for my daily work commute. Something that safely fixes to rear of bike but also easy to take off and reattach after work. Don't want to be faffing about for 5 mins with the on/off.
Found these so far:

20 litre size should be plenty for what I need
Anyone seen these in the flesh? or better still have one??

Well done

Try what Arwen said and also, when your practising it, make the space between the lines you use tighter than what you'll have in the mod 1. My instructor did this with me and when I got to my mod 1 it felt like I had bags of room!
Good luck! You're going to have a good laugh about this when you walk out of the test centre with your licence in your hand!

I had the same. My training U-turn distance was much smaller than the 7.5 metres you have for the MOD 1 test. It helped though and there's plenty of room to get around. Was told to keep revs high, head up and dont look at curb. It worked for me.

I see, makes sense. Thanks for the information, I won't be taking a chance for a few quid saved just was curious.

What's the difference? Besides the price. Halfords currently have part synthetic oil 10w/40 4 litres for £12 or 5 litre bike oil for £29. Is it a big no no using car oil for bikes? Genuine question.

The old sprocket will have witness marks from the nuts. The other side will have none.
How does the disc line up with the caliper?
Good shout, it's now on the opposite way to before. i.e I f**ked up
-
A chain will flap a bit with no load on it either from wheel friction or suspension load .
Check the sprockets as some are dished so if you have the sprocket the wrong way round it will throw the alignment way out .
Alignment marks should match for both sides .
Make sure you have the wheel spacers in the correct sides as this will throw alignment out .
Sometimes you will need to make sure the brake caliper/drum torque arm is loose or detached to get a correct tension/alignment and that you may need to adjust rear brake if its a drum brake ( cant remember which bike this is)
As with anything check the basics before progressing to far into fault finding
Thanks for this. The wheel was off the ground when the chain was flapping a bit.
It also looks like I have installed the rear sprocket the opposite way to how the old was. doh
it's a 2004 FZ6

The axle spindle wants to be level.
So if the left wont come out because the chain is tight, the right wants to go in to the same level of adjustment. The new chain will be shorter
Which way did you take the old sprocket off?
I cant remember which way the old sprocket came off
I wonder is there any way I have ballsed up putting the rear wheel in place? although it looked as though there is only one way it all fits together, probably take it out again and clean the end caps out and clean

Also how do i post images without using the url tags??

i have now front and rear sprocket secured however there are some real issues here.
When i blip the throttle in 1st i can see and hear the chain jumping and knocking about. I have loosened and tightened the chain but it still does this even when the chain is very very tight.
I also have a problem getting both sides of the wheel nut to look the same, for example this

and this
http://i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy283/martash2009/IMG_20161227_161515532.jpg
i can't adjust the left side that much to even it out because the chain will be too tight.
Also which way round should the rear sprocket be fixed. i the indented side facing outwards (if that makes):

I haven't taken it out on the road yet, not sure if it the chain will settle down after a few miles?

http://I found a rope or webbing over the seat to hold the wheel about the right hight helps putting the back wheel on.
Another good idea. Brain just wasn't in gear at this point in the afternoon

What does the thread on the spindle look like? You shouldn't need to do the nut up mega tight as the retaining tab/washer will keep it in place - just do it up so the sprocket is solid and fold the washer thing up.
You should be able to feed the chain through everything as it is. You can use a zip tie to bring the ends of the chain together to make it easier to get the link through (unless you have three hands).
Well I did wonder because I have the retaining washer, its up to about 70nm at the moment but didn't want to push it further.
Zip tie sounds a good idea.

Ok so mixed results today. I have been out there for hours...mostly enjoyable until the end when all kinds of things started go wrong.
Started off checking the brake pads. Not much left on them but look quite easy to replace. Happy with that and enjoyed finding my way around the bike.
Then off with the front sprocket nut and replaced with the rubberised front sprocket, removed back wheel, brake calliper and changed the rear sprocket. All that took me ages really but no real struggl. Then tried to get back wheel back on.....nightmare...I need about 4 pairs of hands and feet. eventually got it back on after much swearing.
Now hear is my problem. Front sprocket nut - in the manual it tells me to set my torque wrench to 90nm. I set it correctly and started to tighten but all of a sudden the nut slipped and I've stripped the thread. I have another to use but worried about doing the same to this one.
Light was starting to fade, i was getting stressed so I packed up for the day. I haven't even started the chain yet, just hope I don't have to remove the back wheel to do it.

I've bought a SJCAM 400 ,used on hols brilliant pictures or vids.
cheap to ,you get a load of mounts half of which I haven't what they're for ..probably for push bikes?
I paid £40 for mine but heres a much cheaper...look the same etc.
I have that one for £16. I thought for £16 is got to be worth a try......it wasn't
I remember reading somewhere that the quality cheap chinese copy manufactures SJ have have problems with cheap chinese imitators giving them a bad name
For £16 did it do WIfi pictures to phone?
No WIFI whatsoever on this one
-
Looks like a soft link to me
Good news
-
The packaging reads Hornet Sprockets.
I also have a rubberised JT front sprocket from separate order which I was going to send back but I may just use it in place of the Hornet one

First inspection looks ok , apart from knowing it doesn't work of course. Will check the connector and loom when I've traced it on Saturday. Need more time on and daylight helps alot
