You'll get it next time Roundabouts still seem to be a mystery to a lot of people, we have a couple of lovely ones here (which are in test route) one fairly simple but large roundabout which for some reason just confuses everyone so have to be really observant as more likely than not there's a few in wrong lanes about to cut across. A much weirder one is a 2 lane approach where you turn left from right hand lane dependant on which way you're going on 2nd roundabout, which really highlights those who don't follow street signs or blindly follow sat nav one direction at a time. Added on to that the normal twats driving about anyway like you've had and it's a miracle at times anyone gets round. Sorry bit of a ramble but not being able to use roundabouts properly ranks up there with not knowing national speed limits with me

Oh and unfortunately someone beat me to it with motorcycle... https://youtu.be/z_FWXkpLikg

A von Neumann machine It is great especially now I'm getting quite good with openscad. I needed to do a bracket the other day to hold a switch in place, previously would have had to have found a suitable material to make it from, measure it up and cut / join bits into shape needed, drill holes etc... Now can just type few lines of code, send file over and then watch TV while printer does all the work. Admittedly most of work has gone into producing another printer lately though

Yeah it's great total opposite of normal lol

Well as I mentioned before I got a 3D printer a couple of months back, well since then I've been on a bit of an upgrade mission replacing electronics and over bits and decided to build a new frame for it out of 20x40 aluminum extrusion. Plenty of plans available online so I went with the AM8 style. Build still nowhere near finished, frame and everything is done but got some extra parts coming and a whole lot of writing to do (decided to rebuild wiring from scratch so sizing is perfect as currently got some wires which are guitar string tight and others with enough slack to do a 2nd loop round printer). But was just toting up what bits I'll have left over that are replaced by upgraded parts and what I can did with them and well it turns out I am one stepper motor short of a full 2nd printer . So this one is technically a full from scratch build. All plastic parts on frame are 3D printed some from existing designs for plan of printer, others are custom designs to fit my hardware. My current printer (modified from original, no longer has screen and controls as it is all web controlled now via wifi). Side by side with new frame... Some of frame build, ran out of purple filament towards the end ... The print carriage (head holder is all my design to accommodate correct fan height, levelling sensor etc...) this one currently only has 1 hot end for ease of setup once I've got everything put together, finished article will have 2 so one can provide support material, different nozzle size, different colour etc... Currently build been going on for close to a month so far (kind of makes 6 hour initial kit build look better) but hoping to have complete by end of next week (main delays are still waiting for some parts, could technically use what I have but then would have to strip and recalibrate again after parts turn up so just being patient).

Tankbag it's probably everyone pausing over nostalgia from the 80s when they had a Ford Cortina with yellow headlights. On a serious note could be the fact it's something different causing a 'what was that' second look which is good until it becomes common and people stop noticing again.

Yer. That’s pretty much the essence of what the DVLA theory test book says, alter your road position to break the looming effect. He probably wrote it! I’ve found a scarf flapping about helps, I see people’s eyes double take and fix on it, not the bike, the red scarf flapping. I notice a big difference with n without it, car drivers behind increase their following distance, they often drop back a metre or so more, I reckon it’s a good visual indicator of movement and speed that you can easily lose cacooned in a car. Mind you on the motorway after a while it flapping about is annoying on the neck, maybe I need a little cape! "> I think capes should make a come back they are great.

Movement is very key point and he highlights this with junctions and your approach as from usual riding position you can look like a gap in the traffic from certain angles so approach in a zigzag motion covers visibility to vehicles in the junction and waiting to turn into it plus movement instantly more recognisable to someone especially if they are not really looking at you, peripheral vision is purely movement detection and you're actually colour blind in that area anyway.

Actually he is very common sense approach and full stealth look has its place, stands out far better this time of year in daylight than high vis which blends into the yellowing trees and fields Good chap, heard him speak at biker down and very different from your usual high vis and lights.

When I lived in London I got visited by a friendly squirrel one day, at first it was quite cute it just trotted into living room through open patio doors (was warm) and sat on coffee table so I gave it a chocolate biscuit which it sat there eating... Big mistake... It then decided to come and be friendly and started running over me, their claws are fooking sharp! So in the end I put it back out into garden and closed door, it promptly ran up drain pipe and hopped across to open upstairs window and came back in For weeks after if any door or window was open this squirrel would come trotting in looking for biscuits ripping my skin apart in the process.

Mmmmmm now that's an idea, 3d printed edible goodness...

I could have printed you one I'm sure you could but would it survive 100 ° + temperatures , water and vibration ? Thanks for the thought. Yes Done a load of prints lately in PETG, incredibly strong, water resistant and easily survive past 100°c Prints I've done are for new hot end mount on the printer and parts are a few MM away from hot end which hits temperatures up to 280°c with no deformation.

I could have printed you one

Cheers mate Basically because of size of break (well two in tibia, it's broken about half way down and near the ankle) so would have needed a lot of pins and plates this way I have one rod running inside the bone screwed top and bottom which whilst it does give some movement it is a lot stronger than plates, if plated the chances are I would still be stuck in bed as they can't take the weight that rod can, they're more to prevent bone moving than reinforce it. As for not healing personally because of the movement I think that's what is the cause, the bones do look further apart than they should be, but they should have been able to get better alignment still using just the nail, I'm wondering if it has been aggravated by using it too soon but the hospital were the ones to push for full weight bearing quickly. The gravel rash has healed ok (pic below), skin is still a bit nerve damaged and feels numb, certainly would never risk riding in normal jeans knowing how easily denim disintegrates but don't think a suit of armour would have stopped the break

I think you'll find Bob assists the cat.

Forgot about this thread Well I almost got to 2 years

And all the tools you could possibly need for the job

I'd wear mine without armour and were fine for all but the hottest days wearing at work.

Broken odometer - have I been scammed?

Too many doom and gloom people on other forums, realistically if they were deliberately trying to fiddle millage I'd expect them to have made sure Speedo was working when selling Personally I think mileage is far too overrated... Is the bike running nice, did it put a smile on your face (once you got home in one piece)? If so then who cares what number is written on a clock. Welcome btw -
Cheers. Loving it! Can do so much, done spacers for blinds in bedroom, replaced a missing wheel on dishwasher, plus loads of other small projects and printer upgrades. Currently designing and printing an entire new gantry setup for X axis which will have dual extrusion. Once that's done going to rebuild frame using aluminium as with other upgrades I've shoved in it now I'm pushing limits of frame (upgraded controller and stepper motors so can print at insane speeds really accurately but starting to shake frame). Got few bigger projects planned once I've got printer running perfect.

Tell me about it, my biggest worry is I'm not exactly light and my leg is just being held together by a titanium rod, read a few horror stories of people with same have had the rod snap where bone didn't heal and eventually metal fatigued Think I'll have to do a hutchy and make my own carbon fibre cast.
