    F... Open plan!

It's not the working with the team that's a problem, it's all the other random people who just happen to work at same place but nothing to do with my team. Only good thing is work we do is pretty sensitive so it's on a restricted floor and won't be totally random people walking in as it is officially hot desking as well
  2. Ok I've not been in work for a bit but lost my office today Not because of being off but moving into a new building and all open plan Whoever came up with the idea of open plan offices needs to be shot. Already feedback from others it is as terrible as expected, no atmosphere whatsoever and everyone scared of talking because when they do some random person from other side of office suddenly joins in. Really hoping I win lottery before I'm fixed!
  3. Just start the bloody engine!
  4. That is obviously the ideal solution but in a work environment not always achievable. Neither is going into work pissed in most places
  5. My Microwave is 29yrs old.. came from the Freemans Catalogue, a Christmas present in 1989. Ive no reason to chuck it. How dated it must look is enough reason Yeah because modern microwaves look so much better compared to the old metal box ones
  6. Have had a run of kitchen appliances blowing up over this year... fridge, washing machine, oven and recently microwave (last 2 in a couple of weeks). This may well be common knowledge (especially as replacements fairly easy to get hold of) but sharing just in case like me, others don't know. At first look it appeared disastrous, when turned on it made a load arcing noise and bright spark coming from the side. On closer look where it was sparking there appeared to be this piece of cardboard on the side, never even noticed it there before (and yes it does get cleaned occasionally ). Thought it a bit coincidental that spark was occurring there so I jumped on trusty google, turns out this cardboard like thing is actually a mica sheet which is used to scatter the waves from magnatron which sits behind. My microwave is probably about 10 years old now but it does it's job, this sheet had deteriorated and started to bubble and crack. Jumped on amazon, and bought a pack of 5 standard sheets for £6.99 and using old one as a template cut sheet to correct shape with a knife, microwave working fine again now. Nice cheap simple fix.
  7. Not tea total and sorting kitchen cupboards the other day revealed I have far too much alcohol but at same time can't remember last time I was drunk and can count number of times I've had alcohol this year on one hand. For me I just prefer being clear headed, don't see the fun side of being drunk, don't make people any more fun and normally just more stupid. Also really don't get the need to drink to have fun attitude when going out. But do like a nice bottle of wine with a dinner.
  8. Yep, you can see in pic the lead screws (vertical threaded screws for up and down movement) sit a fair bit lower than the top of frame plus the guide nuts sit at top of carriage mounts so I lose the space at the top along with the height of the carriage flipping it around in theory should get back the space lost from height of carriage so it will be able to move entire length of lead screw (minus few mm for mounts).
  9. basically the spinning things at bottom with the swirly rods on I want to move to the top
  10. Finally finished main build and done a couple of prints. All working ok Having to run 2 power supplies atm, 12V for heated bed and 24V for everything else as the 24V bed that turned up was typical eBay quality... Have also come up with an idea for inverting the Z axis which will give me a higher print area as only got 300mm lead screw motors plus lose a lot of that with height of X carriage, not seen anyone do that with this build before so either a new idea or it won't work, but won't know until I try it. Still on single extruder as a lot of fine tuning left to do plus need to finish my head design as will need a different fan duct and mount.
  11. I realised once I posted... In my defence it's been a long day Long day my ar*e ... you wanna try sitting in a Speed awareness workshop for 4 hours ... now that is a LONG DAY !! That will teach you for [strikeout]getting caught[/strikeout] speeding. I went to work today! First time in 6 months, think I'll have a day in bed tomorrow
  12. Has anyone ever paid full price for a DFS sofa? I think that’s the point BD was making I realised once I posted... In my defence it's been a long day
  13. Has anyone ever paid full price for a DFS sofa?
  14. We'll it looks like he's got it pregnant , which is quite an achievement. Nah, just not been washed out for a few days.
  15. Always compare trade price with offer price online though, if offer is cheaper than trade price and you use trade card they will charge the higher trade price, been caught a couple of times
  16. If it shears off or housing cracks you've gone too far
  17. I've done a few lots of the Wilko chardonnay and comes out really nice. Very simple to do but as mentioned stock up on sterilisation tablets and powder and make sure everything that touches wine is sterile. Great thing is you can make the wine as dry or sweet as you like.
  18. much simpler life now, can't think why
  19. Many years ago my ex always used to buy coloured toilet paper and one day said she had asked the neighbor to grab some toilet paper when at shops and said 'don't worry I told her not to get white' I didn't pay much notice to this as usual and said ok. Later neighbor turned up with some coloured toilet paper and ex turns round and says that neighbor thinks it's weird I don't like white toilet paper either So asked her wtf she's talking about and comes out with last time I bought white toilet paper you told me don't ever buy that again... Which was totally true, except I said that because the toilet paper was absolutely dreadful rather than the fact it was white
  20. But why is the toilet paper blue?
  21. Yeah does open up a lot of opportunities for more complex designs. Tbh the screws were just a cheap Amazon set, couldn't be bothered to measure up what I needed so just grabbed a set of different sizes, not got the stresses of an internal combustion engine to worry about for a change so thought they'd be ok, effectively they are just pointless, if they can't be screwed into a little stepper motor without rounding off then what they could possibly be used for
  22. Nothing more really, but the frame is a lot more rigid so will allow for much higher printing speeds without causing frame to wobble. Also have space for 2nd extruder now which means I can print with 2 different filaments, main option being support material (such as PVA) which would allow now complex prints by putting the support material in gaps that would normally be a struggle to print over, then pop print in water after and it dissolves all the PVA. Plus wouldn't be much work now to put in a bigger build space if I wanted to just need to get some longer aluminum extrusion. Fixed yesterday's issue now, nice to sleep on things at times . Didn't want to enlarge the rod holder hole as that is what provides all the stability, so enlarged the motor screw holes to make them oblong, that gave all the movement I needed to move motor slightly closer to rod and add a washer, works perfect and once all screwed down can't see the difference. Annoyed with the screws though, bought these new yesterday as needed a few more, the heads appear to be made out of chocolate.
  23. I smashed my leg badly in an accident a few months ago... my mates girlfriend done very similar a year before me (but she has never ridden a bike and did it tripping down some stairs). When I was in hospital there was a guy in bed opposite, he went over handlebars and broke back (but his bike didn't even have an engine). I have seen people who have been in horrendous accidents (but they just happened to be crossing the road). Bottom line, unless you are going to stay indoors and wrap yourself in cotton wall life's full of risks (even then plenty of cars seem to end up in living rooms ).
  24. Stripped down old printer today and started getting everything added on new one, so much wiring to do But first nightmare, the Z rods don't line up with hole in bottom mount, they are about 1-2mm over, not sure what to do atm wether to crack on and hope I can modify it slightly or rebuild old printer and print new ones... Got wiring for 3 motors done at least, only another 3 to go (and end stops, fans, temperature sensors, heaters and bed levelling sensor) but got 3 motors wired in
  25. I found vast majority of cold wearing jeans is from wind. On colder days I'd shove goretex over trousers over the jeans even if not a spec of rain in sight. The extra wind resistance made a massive difference in keeping legs warm. Same as for autumn when I was leaving at 4.30am when it was starting to bite yet if I wore winter jacket I'd be melting coming home, just shoving a waterproof over coat over summer jacket kept wind away and easy to roll up for the journey home.
