  1. Owned this for about a year now and absolutely amazing wrench. Was always sceptical about battery over air and stuck with my air compressor setup for years, moved a couple of years ago and garage has no power, plus a public footpath between house and garage means running permanent power would be a nightmare. So took the plunge and picked up the DCF899 with 2x5ah batteries and charger for £450. Much cheaper now seen screwfix do bare unit for £150. Did seem an expensive purchase but by time you add up cost of compressor, tools and ancillary bits it works out much cheaper than equivalent air options. As said was sceptical about how much power a battery operated wrench could actually put out and was totally converted first use, in fact I've undone vast majority of bolts on power setting 1 or 2 (out of 3). On paper it has 950nm of torque and 1650nm breakaway torque which is crazy figures. There are plenty of YouTube videos showing it shearing bolts (on purpose) and cracking lorry wheel nuts. It is quite a bulky unit but not much more bulky than an air wrench so working on cars can be a hassle at times finding space, on bikes though didn't find many bolts I couldn't get on with it. As for battery life, I've used it to take all 4 wheels off car a few times, all the front suspension off, for entire rebuild of ER5 and plenty of other small jobs inbetween and battery still shows full after initial charge!
  2. Tbh the fuel is probably fine it lasts longer than people think but may have got contaminated, from experience had exactly same issue with my max 2 (very similar bike) recently which was water contaminated fuel. Simple fix of drain and clean carb, depending how likely water in tank still then drain tank as well and some fresh fuel.
  3. How old is fuel? Drain carb float chamber as well see condition of fuel that comes out.
  4. There are normally 2 kill circuits, spark and starter, kill switches should then kill both by sounds of it the starter circuit not being killed and staying energised but still killing spark. One other problem didn't think about in last post which may cause an issue is starting in gear, may not fire up but would probably still turn over so be careful with that!
  5. I'll say kill switch probably been an issue in past and been bypassed instead of replaced which was affecting side stand kill as well. To be fair depends how important it is to you, if side stand switch still kills spark it will still work and plenty of bikes out there without kill switches. Also could just be the switch itself has broken and jammed on in which case would just need replacing.
  6. Bikes over booze always For me a good ride is much better feeling than drinking and without feeling shit the day after (my last ride excluded )
  7. Bev unfortunately can't help with a bike but happy to sort out a bundle of tools, a location would be nice though as would need to be collected as I can't get out of house at present.
  8. That sucks! I've been told while they can't fail you specifically on size if excessively big they can fail you on control. How wide were they? I've had 2 attempts and both attempts with nerves couldn't keep it within last yellow cone so went just outside, one gave me a minor for it the other didn't even give me that.
  9. You'll ace it As other said click few times when you see hazard to make sure, you'll always score highest click so if you clicked twice in 5 point and 3 point window you'd get your 5 points, if however you click too soon (can easily be done) and don't click again that's nil points. All videos will have 1 hazard except one video which will have 2, I found all the hazards extremely obvious and once you've had double hazard clip you can switch off once you've spotted hazard for that clip (all the little potential hazards mean nothing you are only scored on what becomes a hazard).
  10. Side stand switch could cause starting issues but normally no turn over, that said if it is turning over with kill switch off maybe circuit cutting starter is shorted but still cutting power to spark. You can bypass side stand easily enough just by shorting it (paper clip / wire in both pins of plug) worth a test doing that.
  11. Would be great starting point still. Sorry don't know your expertise with wiring so don't mean to teach you to suck eggs. First things you want to be checking are no wire breaks (continuity each end) no shorts (no continuity to any other wire or ground that shouldn't be connected) and then same thing with switches on and off. Was bike 2nd hand? Wouldn't be surprised if had starting issues before and someone has bodged a fix, if so look for any 'repairs' to the wiring.
  12. Must have been some right shockers on there to go to that extreme
  13. Yeah should not turn over at all with kill switch off. Could be a hard one to diagnose as could be a simple loose / shorted wire or a trashed wiring loom. I'd get a decent manual and start going through your starting circuit, I wouldn't expect much wiring for it.

    Phobias

With injections mentioned above have to do them in my stomach, hospital actually told me to not inject in belly button as it will really hurt... Never occurred to me to even try it but do wonder if they have to give that disclosure how many people have tried it

    Phobias

Not a lover of heights myself, at same time don't bother me enough to need to cure it. One more recent though is I don't like needles, most that I'd have come in contact with at work are a death sentence so think that filtered across to all needles even ones I know safe... I now have to inject myself daily in my stomach don't think I'll ever get over that though it is pure torture but completely psychological as they don't hurt at all.

  17. Is that what a morgue is for? Stick you in a bag in a freezer to see if you work again Lol you guys have a whole thread available to make fun of my stupidity!
  18. Also freezing helps, put in a bag and place in freezer for a bit
  19. No words...
  20. So what you're saying is that I need to find someone who has done it before, possibly who has a bit of time on his hands but with full use of his fingers, and with access to a sterile working environment like... oh I don't know... say an operating theatre? Walked right into that one
  21. Yeah meant OP lol Know it is doable and have done myself but it is a ticking time bomb as soon as platters exposed to air they are just self destructing and need to get an image off asap... So if can be done another way first always recommend that.
  22. As this... I'd do electronics though don't touch platters unless you have a sterile room Platters should have been sealed and safe against spillage you've just likely trashed electronics
  23. Sounds like a great day and right weather for it
  24. Final part to this... https://www.themotorbikeforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=66628 That's me with no chance of getting licence or even back on A bike this year. We will see what next year holds...
