Ok well back in the warm for now, back being crap today so only a half arsed effort Next weekend will strip carbs off and attack the float needle. Did you replace your tap anyway to be sure or left it? Did it need replacement needle or just a clean and refit?
-
Finally got time to take a look... Just took fuel tap off and seems ok, visually diaphragm looks good and new still (did say he had it replaced not looking before I got it) I can't blow through fuel line with it on and in reserve it blows back through main line if I cover that again can't blow through it. Need to take carbs off anyway as probably have a sticky float needle (hence it flooding out when I forgot to take it off prime) but no wiser where my fuel has gone. Not drained oil yet though airbox looked dry (but has had no fuel for a while now)

My thoughts exactly! So far has cost me over £300 on dentist bills in past year and that's excluding prescription costs.

10 days left until my DAS, starting to brick it a bit now had hardly any time on bike due to weather recently. When I booked it thought weather would start getting nicer and I'll have plenty of time to practice Keep thinking that there will be others there that haven't seen a bike before but still don't make me feel any better
-
Nice one glad it's sorted sometimes it is a simple answer.

I've got emergency rain gear which stays on bike which is a simple roll up coat and over trousers (like you'll find in camping shops) takes up practically no space and throw over whatever gear I'm wearing if I get caught out, never found it to restrict any movement more than whatever gear I've got on. Know not strictly on line with your question but only thing I can think of that don't involve actual rain gear would be a water proofing spray which I've found useless for anything more than a very light shower.

That's a different problem Thanks, will see if I can find one. Pass my thanks to your Mrs as well

Meant no worry of me starting it

I was thinking open face helmet and follow a van down gravel track... Trouble is it's right at the back so will take a good few other teeth before I get it

Starting no issue as no fuel left When I bought it was told it recently had new fuel tap and to be fair was only shiny bit on bike so tend to believe that. Is there diaphragm in tank or is it just tap? As know taking tank off according to manual you just pull lines off with tap in on or res, but if I do that tank just empties. Looking at diagram for fuel tank though I can't see anything that would stop tank emptying anyway. Do think float valve needs to be looked at though as accidentally left tap on PRI when rebuilt it while I got distracted and next minute had fuel running down swing arm, but set to on or res was fine.

Wonder if it will be quicker to get NL citizenship

Need to work out where I've got fuel leak on ER5, put a Jerry can of fuel in 2 weeks ago and tank is now dry. Can anyone recommend anything to use instead of petrol to put in tank to diagnose leak? Think it's getting into carb so don't want to use water and flamability of petrol aside it's too expensive to put in tank if it's going to all leak out Got a UV dye I normally use on cars for leak testing so was going to plonk that in mixed with whatever and leave for a day as no noticeable leaks.

Yeah it's becoming a joke, impacted tooth was diagnosed years ago but never caused an issue until about 3 years back when it suddenly decided to start growing forward. Been told A&E won't help unless it's been caused by a trauma. Just seems to be never ending and constantly interfering with everything.

Ooooooooh shiny! Tbh though mine just needs some elbow grease put into it, exhaust is solid and nice exhaust just needs surface crap taken off and always been low on list. Fuel tank got ripped off again yesterday after it has emptied itself over past couple of weeks, not had a chance to look into it yet so that's next job, hoping it's more simple leak than it dumping it into carb.

Basically I've a impacted wisdom tooth (laying flat) which is pushing forward as a result the tooth in front is now being crushed, last x-ray shows tooth bent in the middle now. As a result it has cracked along gum line, I've been waiting to have it removed since June last year and after delays I finally got an appointment last month for it to be removed under sedation, but they were unable to complete it as despite given maximum anesthetic they could not numb tooth (dentist believes extra nerve). So I've now been referred to have it removed under general anaesthetic but there is a 40 week waiting list ! I get waves of pain in tooth e.g. Right now it's fine and wouldn't think anything wrong with it then all of the sudden it's like someone sticking a nail in my gum. My dentist has not offered much help regarding this and every time I've gone to him in pain he's said it's infected and just given me antibiotics, I honestly don't think it is though as had infected tooth before and different type of pain, I think where it's cracked nerve is exposed (plus I've caught it couple of times brushing). My main questions... He has offered to drill nerve out, but if they can't numb it to remove tooth would they be able to numb it to remove nerve? If they can and remove nerve wouldn't they then be able to remove it? Are there any other options, paying for private removal under GA is simply not affordable.

Trust me, the thought has crossed my mind!

Know it may be bit of a long shot but have we got any dentists in the ranks? Without boring everyone else just after a bit of advice.

I tried a wilko home brew real ale which came out ok minus the pressure barrel springing a leak so ended up throwing away 38 of the 40 pints left. Also did 2 of their wine kits and they came out really nice!

I'd pull apart current one first and give it a good clean down, if corrosion set in and arms stuck they will never spin out and engage.

To echo above about Aldi stuff they are normally cheap and good value. They normally release a range in special buys in March so if you can hold off a month I'd keep an eye on their special buys online. -
It's a great feeling when you've had an engine in pieces and it starts after going back together! Hope it all goes smoothly, top job

Got to love snow foam Cheers, does make it all worth while, was really unsure how the color would turn out but really glad with choice think it all compliments. Turned out a fluke that wheels matched, tbh I thought they were black they were so dirty

Unrestricted and all the usual insurance dilemmas that go with it as even though you're insured on it that's only with restrictor in. -
Well wheel bearing time and I was absolutely gobsmacked how easy they turned out to be once wheel was off it took about 30mins to remove and install new bearings, most of that time finding right size sockets to push bearings in with. So threw the wheel in back of car and 10 min drive to bike shop and one nice new Michelin pilot street on it as well. Reassembly took slightly longer as still aching from being unwell so juggling wheel into place while trying to push axle through and line up everything else at same time was a bit of a pain but I got there. So adjusted chain slack tightened everything down and wheeled it out off the garage for a clean. Now just before the 'final' pictures there's a few bits I will revisit mainly can and bracket are in need of a real clean down and haven't touched engine but for all intent and purposes I give you my completed ER5. Think I've learnt a hell of a lot doing this and it's been a fun project but next one I do will definitely be in the summer! Thank you for your interest.
