Fit an automatic oiler, I use a Scott. I rode 10 miles each way to work for over 2 years and in that time never had to clean the chain, I think I adjusted it once maybe twice. I just had to keep the oiler topped up and adjust the rate as the weather changed, higher setting for winter. Any chain drive bike I buy, fitting an oiler is one of the first things I do.

What a tool. I've run a Scottoiler for several years, all through the winter, and one of the main reasons for doing so is that once you get the lube rate right you don't need to clean the chain.

I'm up and running. Not very nice out there, stopped raining now at least. If I'm not called out again I'll have a look at where I can find the pub names locally.

We hand over a marked up bike with blues and twos to riders, insisting that those riders have an advanced qualification is the best way that we can think of having our bikes ridden in a consistent, safe and courteous manner. Back on topic, I underwent Rospa training a few years ago and I think it has made me a safer rider, slower no, safer yes, and I would recommend it to every rider.
