  1. Paging the Jim Henson Creations team .... one of your subjects is loose .
  2. I thought that too, but recognise I'm not knowledgeable on the subject This was discussed somewhat a long time ago. Basically with the USB units there is a circuit inside which converts the 12volts to 5 volts. This circuit is active at all times and so it draws a few milliamperes even when nothing is plugged in. Then when you plug an item in the current draw goes up as it starts to charge the device. The cheaper the USB unit the more it uses at rest. I did find out the approx current draw at rest but can't remember now. So under most applications it will not run the battery down BUT on a small bike with a low capacity battery there is a chance if the bike is not used for a week or two the battery may go flat. HTH And most converters these day's come with a LED fitted to show its on ..
  3. Love the triumph night ..only Warren is intrested
  4. Northern ireland is part of uk licensing laws and a cbt is required . If you had a valid cbt certificate in effect for that day ..ie you passed prior to the incident then you should be insured and need to contact insurer's. Had you complied with all security requirements ? Ie chained etc Or had you given false information for insurance policy stating you held a valid cbt before you actually did ?
  5. Have you checked your clutch adjustment ? If lever is not pulling clutch sufficiently then it may not disengage fullt
  6. Have you sync 'd the carbs after the rebuild ? You have disturbed lots of things which may have been sync'd to the problems before . Doh missed the previous post ..
  7. Best procedure is as stated in owners manual There are a variant of ways so as above if you can find the above is best ( these are for various manufacturers some may not be relevant Place bike on centre stand and leave for 5 mins ( cold engine) check level Place on centre stand , run engine for five ( or variant ) minutes .stop engine) Leave for 5 minutes . Check level. Run engine , Stop engine , allow 5 mins and level bike and check level ( kawasaki gtr1400 Method with a sight glass on the right hand side ) Check from cold on the level
  8. Do yoy mean cbt or your full licence. Either way your screwed If you have not passed your cbt and issued a certificate Your insurance is void as it is a term and condition that you hold a valid cbt Or if your riding a bike you are not licensed to ride ie over 125cc without an instructor present your insurance is void. Both raise the further point of riding not in accordance with licence Meaning your riding without valid insurance ( yet third party will be covered but insurance company will chase you for repayment) You also now raise the issue of why your instructor has allowed you to ride on road unlicensed and may cause issues for them If your bike was stolen from its declared address then they would have paid out but as it was away from there for the reasons given then it has decided to not pay out.
  9. Its lucky the vin has been blanked as i wouldnt be suprised at the results of a vin check
  10. First point of contact will be the manufacturer / brand name If you just bypass them it will be seen as just trying to get money for the sake of . Use the address on the container Raise a complaint that product has fallen below your expectations Detail your findings . As said freeze the product With documented photos Dont start demanding compensation etc Give them a chance to reply and follow their process .if its unsatisfactory THEN consider taking ut further . Because remember in this day and age any complaint raised most manufacturers have a team that do a bit of research on your internet profile and see if your just trying to scam .
  11. Question is .. how did the ignition switch break in a slide .? What did it hit to cause this as it looks like its quite recessed and surrounded by non broken bits . If its impacted then has it damaged anything else on tbe steering mechanism ? Or has the lock been forced when it was in the locked position ?
  12. Never had to use one .. Adding one of those will create a balance issue if not present at fitting time . No , you don't leave it attached , this would put great strain on the rubber valve seat and would be highly dangerous. These are for when you just can't get the rigid air hose at a garage to go onto the valve at the correct angle. I have to use one because on my GSXR the discs get in the way . When I worked in a bike shop , customers would buy these in pairs and despite everything we said to discourage them they would insist on leaving them attached to both valves while riding . Anyway if you don't need one then fair enough. You see i know that they cause issues ... but for the inexperienced perhaps a caution not to leave fitted ! Advice is only as good as its given .

  14. Ps ... what bike ?

Have you measured the Disk thickness and is it within tolerances ? As it had a oil leak i would replace pads Could also be Fluid deteriorated Brake hose weak/ collapsing Caliper sliders seized/poor operation Caliper pistons seized/ poor operation
  16. I don't see any UK bike clubs making peoples lives miserable, they tend to do quite the opposite with all the charity work they get involved in Its only ten years ago http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1090216/Jailed-total-191-years-Seven-members-biker-gang-utterly-pointless-Hells-Angel-motorway-murder.html

  18. Do it . Look for molls gap N22 Few pictures and a rough route map ( 2008did in 5 days mixture of camping and b&b ) coastal roads http://photobucket.drhinternet.net/click.php/e130931/h155503/qP2V2dD1lbWFpbF9zaGFyZV9tZWRpYQ/s4c535f8ab5 2009 camped on a cider farm in central ireland and explored from there http://s417.photobucket.com/user/timr_75/library/ireland2009?sort=4&page=1
  19. I would go for this . They can be very intermittent in their working Use wd or cleaner Pull the switch plunger all the way out as they can stick in and jiggle making partial contact with vibrations.
  20. Any impact sufficient to move the bike forward a foot or so may well have caused damage to swing arm and wheel bearings, if not the frame/subframe assembly. Get it checked out and get yer claim in. Now " A little " has become " A foot or so " and being shunted has become an impact . I wasn't there but my impression is still that this is a trivial incident that is best forgotten about . I've been shunted I the past . Two days after I got my GSXR I was knocked forward by a car driver at a zebra crossing . I managed to save the bodywork with my leg that was bruised and my numberplate was dislodged . Did I make an insurance claim ? No , I just told the driver to f**k off and fixed the numberplate . It honestly never occurred to me . Its always been a foot .... Read first post " I probably got pushed forward about 1ft ish not much more"
  21. Remember regardless of what helmet you desire or what has the best reviews etc The best helmet for you is the one that fits you
  22. Rf bacon signal ... Why can i just see police cars driving around locating stolen vehicles with this going on in the back of car
  23. Check the drive belt tension /condition
  24. 1. Was it working fine before you replaced parts 2 . Why did you need to replace those parts
  25. If wheel was contacted . Check chain tension and wheel alignment .if they have moved get the bike checked professionally either through insurance or trusted garage . As you had rear brake applied the wheel would have resisted the urge to turn when contacted and all pressure is then placed on Tyre, wheel, wheel bearings, axle rod, swingarm , swingarm bearings, swingarm pivot ,frame ( in extreme cases) .
