Metropolitan Police - use of tactical contact on mopeds
Martyn850 replied to Martyn850's topic in Motorbike Chat
Managed to find the dashcam footage I mentioned... https://www.facebook.com/BBCLondon/videos/319611525540097/ -
Just watching the BBC news and there was an article showing the Metropolitan Police using tactical contact to bring pursuits involving moped enabled crime to a successful resolution! They played some of the police dashcam footage. Bloody hilarious. Knocks one scrote off and he just gets up and looks at the police with a WTF?! body language!! I support this 100%, and I do hope that the Met have decent policy in place to protect the police driver when something goes tits up for the rider.

As per title, 2 x Garmin pressure sensor valve caps that link to suitable Garmin sat nav to give you your tyre pressures displayed on the screen. These are about £70 for one, but selling for £70 for the pair. Only fault is the number 2 sticker has come off the rear one, but the number 1 sticker is still on the front one so it’s pretty easy to figure out which is which....

No probs. Be up for that. If you’re ever up this way during the the summer there’s a decent bike meet at a place called Old Buckenham every Tuesday evening. Basically 300-600 bikes turn up on the village green outside the pub! All sorts from customs, sports, scooters etc.

This Saturday. Getting bus up Friday night, riding back Saturday morning. Leaving for Coventry Friday afternoon otherwise would have joined you. Bakery is on the left as you go through the centre of Hingham. Think it closes at 14:00 on a Saturday though. So if you don’t make it I recommend the pub!

goat no probs. When’s the trip?
-
Nice bakery in Hingham on the B1108 if you fancy a bacon roll and decent pub opposite.
-
B1108 is a good ride. Then pick up the A1075 south if you want to avoid the A11 as far as Thetford.

For many years my dad was the chairman of the Norfolk winemakers guild. Made wine from all sorts of things. Rose petal, elderflower, rose hips as well as the more traditional things. All I’ve ever made is ginger beer!!

The Great East Anglia October Meet
Martyn850 replied to bonio's topic in Cambs & East Anglia Rideouts and Meets
I’d have travelled down from Norwich, but I’m away that week. Maybe next time. -
Just checked my bank account and noticed I’d had my refund. £65 for the Sunday ticket incl booking fees! Just in time for Oktoberfest in Stuttgart next week!!

Having a nightmare finding the right gloves
Martyn850 replied to DaveG's topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
I have these Held Air ‘n’ Dry gloves and reccomend them. I bought them probably around a year ago and wore them all through winter and all through this summer with no problems. They are expensive but the quality and use they get was worth the price. -
Nice write up. The Somme is on my to do list. Last year I stayed in Arras where my great grandfather is buried but then headed north to Ypres. Next time I’ll head south.

Beeline navigation

This is my favourite part. Nothing like keeping your eyes on the road........ To be honest I don’t know anything about how it works, or if there’s audio etc. It just makes me chuckle when he takes a long look down at the device and I picture him running into the back of something just after it cuts away! -
Outlast seems pretty fancy stuff. I’d only seen it in Rukka and jackets that were nudging £800-1000. So for it to be in a jacket that’s currently on offer for nearer £200 seemed a pretty good. Was impressed by the Wolf jacket I did receive, just a pity it was on the wrong hanger!
-
I’m now reconsidering my attendance! A couple of hours ride in the rain followed by standing in the rain all day, to be topped off with a ride home in the rain isn’t appealing to me at the moment!

I have the Alpinestars Andes jacket and trousers. They’re a couple of years old and although it’s not goretex it’s Alpinestars own waterproofing Drystar, it’s never leaked. I did look at the Wolf Tec-Touring jacket which is currently reduced from £350 to £210 at Sportsbikeshop. It’s waterproof and has that fancy Outlast material in it too. I ordered it but I’m having to exchange it as the wrong size jacket was on the hanger for the size I ordered. I thought it seems a very good jacket for the price and you can get the matching trousers which are reduced at the moment too.

Enjoy it mate. You doing the whole weekend or just the Sunday? Bit of advice. If you only have general admission tickets for the Sunday. Then get in early ish if you want a decent spot Just the Sunday. Better set the alarm a little earlier then!! Got a ride of a couple of hours to get there.
-
I’m heading down there. First MotoGP! Looking forward to it!

Had a ride out midweek to Guy Martins pub in Kirmington. A nice ride out through the Lincolnshire Wolds. Pub was friendly with nice staff and good food. As you’d imagine, scattered with Guy Martin memrobilia and a big draw for fans. Reccomended if you’re in the area.
