  1. Good turn out of bikes yesterday. YouTube clip of ride in,I pass by on RGV at 2.04 ">
  2. Next Sunday, ride in starts at the Truckstop on A5. http://www.rugbytowncentre.co.uk/events/bikefest-2017
  3. There is some stuff from Loctite 7200 gasket remover. Used it from stripping paint off some engine parts, can't vouch on gaskets though.
  4. Regular Wednesday evening meet, myself and a couple of guys from work are going tomorrow,Wed 10th
  5. The rubber blocks are called cush rubbers. The thin bit of rubber linking 2 together can break, one is gone in the back of my RGV and its not really an issue to use like that.Once they are fitted inside the hub, they cant go anywhere. The brake spring is ok as well. There is only one cam which turns and opens the shoes,so one spring does most of the work,

    head bolts

Is it just referring to the exhaust and a poor translation included head bolts?
  7. Take a look at Loctite 598 if you want a silicone sealant. If you want to glue it have a look at 3M DP490
  8. Did you read what was said? in the answer I gave with regards to legality The post and original question was about the tread depth. It was not about cuts, bulges or anything else as I stated, it was simply asking the question about tread depth and was specifically for 49cc machines. If it has cuts, bulges, cords showing or anything like that, then it becomes a defective tyre under the legislation and is a different issue. But for the purpose of the tread, it is legal. I qualified it with ©Nothing in paragraph (1)(g) applies to a motorcycle with an engine capacity which does not exceed 50 cc. Paragraph (1)(g) relates to the tread depth and pattern. Beg to differ your honour, but you asked in the first post if it was legal or illegal, not about tread depth etc? "Following on from the thread about tyre mix, I thought you might enjoy thinking about this one. 49cc Moped. Is this tyre legal or illegal? Remember I know the answer so I don't need the regulations and law thrown at me nor the moral rights and wrongs of riding on a tyre like this I thought for those of you less experienced, you might enjoy debating it and the question is quite simple. Legal or illegal?"
  9. Please do not start this debate again, we have had this over the past 2 weeks The law always over rides the Highway Code. So it is not not contradicting. Advising something is not law Fair enough, but what about? The exemption for mopeds is only paragraph (g)? (27.—(1) Save as provided in paragraphs (2), (3) and (4), a wheeled motor vehicle or trailer a wheel of which is fitted with a pneumatic tyre shall not be used on a road, if— (a)the tyre is unsuitable having regard to the use to which the motor vehicle or trailer is being put or to the types of tyres fitted to its other wheels; (b)the tyre is not so inflated as to make it fit for the use to which the motor vehicle or trailer is being put; ©the tyre has a cut in excess of 25 mm or 10% of the section width of the tyre, whichever is the greater, measured in any direction on the outside of the tyre and deep enough to reach the ply or cord; (d)the tyre has any lump, bulge or tear caused by separation or partial failure of its structure; (e)the tyre has any of the ply or cord exposed; (f)the base of any groove which showed in the original tread pattern of the tyre is not clearly visible; (g)either— (i) the grooves of the tread pattern of the tyre do not have a depth of at least 1 mm throughout a continuous band measuring at least three-quarters of the breadth of the tread and round the entire outer circumference of the tyre; or (ii) if the grooves of the original tread pattern of the tyre did not extend beyond three-quarters of the breadth of the tread, any groove which showed in the original tread pattern does not have a depth of at least 1 mm; or f)the base of any groove which showed in original tread pattern of the tyre is clearly visible.
  10. Yes I read that law,but doesn't this apply? (f)the base of any groove which showed in original tread pattern of the tyre is clearly visible. This contradicts the HC on "tread should be visible" for a moped, suggesting its only advisable?
  11. Is this the MUST and SHOULD wording in HC? Moped tyre should have visible tread, i.e. its only advise? Motorcycles above 50cc must have tread 1mm etc
  12. Legal or illegal for what? Use on the public highway in the UK?
  13. To the letter of the law, legal.Just. You would think the owner would turn it around to get a bit more life out of it?
  14. +1 on the Abba stand. I have one and have made different adaptors for the R1 & RGV. To take the front wheel out I put the rear wheel in the air with Abba and wrap a ratchet strap around the headstock, throw this over a beam in the garage roof and hoist the front up. Best bit is I paid £8 for the stand from a car boot sale.Dont think anyone knew what it was for or how much they are new.
  15. For probably the first time in 6-7 years I dragged my Honda SS125 out from under the bench. It's a J reg 1970 ,if youre not familiar with the model, similar to the more common CB/CD175. Gave it a bit of a wipe down, sprayed over with some wd40 and kicked the engine over. Checked the battery voltage, still at 3v out of 6 which surprised me it still had some charge. Have owned it since 1998 when I paid £35 for it. I'm only the 3rd owner and the mileage of 8800 is genuine. I had it on the road once but it was not fun to ride,no power and shocking brakes but that's old bikes for you. It mainly needs new wheel rims, exhausts (which are hideously expensive) and a general tidy up. Also got genuine workshop manual, sales brochure and original bill of sale.
  16. 2001 R1 5jj Core height is 300mm,bit more with brackets but can't see them easily. Total width 400mm
  17. Anyone going tomorrow night Friday 7th April? Weather looks ok so should be on RGV.
  18. And been to this for the last 2 years, got to support your local event.
  19. Welcome to the Midlands,I'm in Rugby. Can't name any particular route but you can head up to the peak district,Matlock and all that. Or Cotswolds, plenty of good roads there or head out around Melton Mowbray. Nearer to home there is Coventry motofest,Rugby bikefest & Daventry bike festival, all in may/june. If you like bike meets, you could try Jack's hill cafe, first Friday of the month,Billng cafe northampton every wednesday evening.
  20. I bought some pads for the R1,didn't turn up via Hermes. Contacted seller who was most apologetic, sent me another set immediately and gave a partial refund. As you say, there are some honest ,reliable types out there
  21. I've been fairly lucky and only got messed about once. Was selling a couple of car mirrors, sold for not a lot of money, then the buyer didn't pay up and didn't respond to messages. Then they had the cheek to give me negative feedback . Apart from that I've bought plenty without issues and sold probably 50 items trouble free excepting mirror man.
  22. Some dodgy continuity though. The race track scene, one minute the track was dry, next shot it was wet.
  23. this is where I get confused, by switch do you mean the button on the bars, or do you mean a switch within the barrel? The barrel where the key goes. Never saw if it fixed it but the diagnosis made sense
  24. My daughter had a YBR with similar fault, sometimes wouldnt start. Dealer diagnosed ignition switch when we took it in for part ex.
