  5. Got the rest of the frame stripped out tonight. Considering some of its not been touched for 48 years everything came apart remarkably easily. Honda quality I guess. The frame has quite a bit of surface rust but nothing serious. Need to find somewhere to shot blast it all now.
  6. I got my refund ok ages ago. They did offer free tickets to Aberdare road races but they never materialised.
  7. Finally after 20 years of ownership and 18 since its been on the road,I decided to do something with the Honda. So moved it out from under the bench and started to strip it. Within an hour tank, seat, rear mudguard, exhausts and engine were out, can't believe how simple it is. Plan to get the rest stripped out to get the bare frame and swingarm painted. Jobs to do; Source new exhausts. These are the worst bit as they are very rare and very expensive, looking at £500-1000 for a geniune pair.I will find something suitable to graft on maybe a pair of C50s. New wheel rims. Paint frame and swingarm Paint forks. Clean up engine and paint side cases Replace clutch springs and plates.Clutch was slipping last time I rode it. Replace brake shoes Replace tyres

    So...

Holy crap, I thought I was having a bad day when I trapped my finger in a door. Glad no one was seriously hurt
  11. Looking at this image the oil filter and some galleries exist within the clutch cover so the theory of the gasket failing and losing pressure is feasible. https://www.motorcyclespareparts.eu/en/derbi-parts/2009-gpr-125-4t-e3-motorcycles/clutch-cover

  14. Dont want to sound a.dick but what is that ??? We're is that on cb750.. Don't know where the breather is specifically on the CB but most bikes have a hose off the top of the gearbox casing and links up to the air box. Idea is any blowby and nasty un-environmentally friendly gases get sucked back into the engine and burnt off.
  15. If you want to get flash, try some fluorescent dye in the oil,OEMs use it on new engines etc. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Torch-Detection-Fluid-Petrol-Diesel/dp/B00TU9BHN6 Check your crankcase breather isn't blocked. Would pressurise the crankcase and find the weakest escape route.
  16. The bike rider on the A43 by Silverstone earlier this afternoon doing about a ton with what looked like a kid riding pillion. If the speed wasn't bad enough the kid had a jacket on that was flapping around and riding up exposing their back.
  17. Soak the studs and nuts in plus gas for 24hrs or so. Get a decent six sided socket or two. Heat up the nut and stud with a gas torch or heat gun. I would start with the "best looking nuts" ahem, and carefully try to undo. If they feel solid, try tightening them slightly. If they feel like they are moving, keep applying some lube and work it by alternately undoing and tightening a little at a time. With the damaged nuts you may have to hammer the socket on and eventually sacrifice them. Patience is key to this sort of problem. If they feel at all resistant to undoing, more plus gas and more heat. If you are lucky the studs may wind out of the head, bin it all and fit new. If you are unlucky the stud may snap off in the head. Failing all that you might have to get a bit brutal, I'd try grinding into nuts with a die grinder.
  18. Found this workshop manual, shows oil pressure should be 4.2 bar, about 60 psi. Ask them where they have their info that shows 7 psi at idle is ok? Would expect the idle oil pressure to be at least 30 psi. https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1219145/Derbi-Gpr125.html?page=24#manual
  19. Welcome. I'd check the oil pressure relief valve, possibly jammed open. This is normally a spring and either a ball bearing or a plunger.
  20. Good info. Just to highlight some differences between bikes; On the R1 this has a diaphragm clutch so no coil springs. On the RGV it doesn't have a needle bearing in the centre of the clutch basket, just a steel bush running in a bronze sleeve. Also on the RGV it has two thick steel washers/spacers either side of the outer basket, both different thicknesses, easily missed when stripping it down. Mega,is that all a std clutch?
