Done this numerous time on race engines works just fine. We have a special tool knocked up that is basically a threaded spring compressor on a bracket, the bracket bolts to the head on any suitable threads. It would require you to fabricate such a bracket to suit the trumpet and be sure it fits all the cylinders. Also on another engine type we used a lever under a bar that was bolted to the head. If both cams are out,set the piston at BDC on the cyl you are working on so the air pressure doesn't flip the engine over and tangle the chain up. It can be a time consuming faff, and have to say for the sake of just whipping a few head bolts out of your engine you could spend hours making it work when having the head off would be more straight forward.

You can shorten the coil by snipping one thread off at a time with some decent side cutters. You should be able to work out how long you need by measuring the thickness of the fork leg and calculating how many pitches there are. My advice about removing stuck inserts is not to pull out with pliers as you can remove some of the thread aswell. Carefully unwind the insert with pliers or you can buy a special tool which is a v shaped blade which digs into the insert when turned anti clockwise.

Looks like genuine rings are available. Just checked out CMNSL, which is Dutch I think. Try ringing your local Suzuki dealer with the part number, you might be surprised If not CMNSL will ship to the UK. Not sure if this is your model but you can go back and choose the right one. https://www.cmsnl.com/suzuki-gsx250e-1982-z-general-export-e01_model13609/partslist/FIG10.html#results My 26 year old RGV is on the excellent vintage program with Suzuki, with a few exceptions I can get almost everything for it from my local dealer within a couple of days. Even bought a brand new crankshaft from them last year.

Couldn’t get the XT working yesterday, and both the others are off road atm. So, when I finally got it working, I flew out this morning for a ride. Ice everywhere - it was awesome fun R1,ice and fun are not 3 words I would put in the same sentence. Unless it was "I went out on the R1 in the ice and it was no frikkin' fun"

I was going to go but our road was still icy at 10.45am. Two guys from work went said it was really good with almost 300 bikes turnout. Rideout well organised aswell. Felt vindicated for wimping out when one of my workmates fell off on the way home.

Welcome. Could be piston rings gummed up in the pistons. My Honda 125 had been stood for years also and wouldn't start.Took the barrels off and carefully freed off the rings. Can you do a leakdown test on it? That will tell you where the loss of sealing is.

Checked valve clearances? Compression test or leakdown? Blocked air filter?

There is a page now about official off-site camping at Llanwyrtd Wells. Appears to be a few existing sites in the area aswell http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/results.asp?county=powys Would think any shrewd landowners in the area would seize the chance to make a few quid by opening a temporary campsite for the weekend?

Topic already covered in the Racing and track day section And yes I'm going

Had Sky years ago,got p1ssed off with it,kids would watch trashy American shows and we got into the habit of just flicking through the channels until we found something partially interesting to watch. The box then broke so we got rid of it. Only had free view until a couple of months ago,OH pestered me into getting a fire stick, which is ok watched a few of the free box sets. We try not to revolve our life around watching TV and certainly would not pay for Sky/Disney. What we can't watch we won't miss.

Its the Death Star paying a visit to see if the latest Star wars film is any good. Or its Star Trek 4 journey home, large space turd searches earth for extinct whales or in 2017 case, the existence of an Englich cricket team?

Which one will you watch? Can't stand football and watching a wedding on tv? Give me a break. Roads should be fairly empty so will go out on the R1

How many miles had you done on the new tyres when this happened? Have you run them long enough to scrub the release agent off? Might be worth checking the date code on the tyre, could be new to you but sat around for a while? Assume pressures and wheel alignment ok? I run Michelin pilot power on the R1,fine for my riding style. However don't use it in the cold weather

Looking at Trivago or Booking.com you may not have a huge choice. Just book what you can. We are only about 5 miles from the circuit at Defynnog.

I'm on simvastatin, have been for about 10 years without any problems. They are to help my kidney disease IGA nephritis, which is a gradual blocking up of the kidneys. My Dad was put on a statin for cholesterol and suffered similar symptoms to you, he stopped taking them after a couple of days.

Yep my thoughts aswell. Already booked hotel and tickets. Same here, hotel booked, prices are going to go up when the news spreads As its in the middle of nowhere, accomodation is a bit sparse so best book early to be sure of being close to the event. Place we are at is now fully booked. Check out Trivago and the like and shows lots of demand and few rooms left. Wasnt sure on spectator capacity either so have booked general entrance tickets for Saturday and grandstand for Sunday
