sounds like power valve or piston damage to me.

If that's correct, then it's a bargain and you'd be nuts spending £80 on the FT ones. -
how much is a new ignition lock? may be cheaper to screwdriver the lock and fit a new one than call out a locksmith.

Spend the £500. Arlen Ness stuff is on a different plane to FT. you could get a Teknic 2 piece for £300 though. Held race suits are the same as Arlen Ness, as are Berik and Wolf. All the same suits made in the same factory. -
Another fiver gets you an X-ring chain and steel sprockets. B&C have some good prices.
-
Renthal ally sprockets I expect. cheap crap. Having said that, prices do appear to have come down. Tsubaki x ring chain is good stuff.

why? are you ill? stu what leathers are you currently using? -
£90 is very cheap for a c&s set for a 7R. what brand is it? why not service the bike yourself? you will know what has been done, rather than being charged a small fortune and not knowing if they have done all they should have. what do you want done? oil and filter, plugs, air filter, clean coolant filter, balance carbs, adjust chain...................£200+ just cos it hasn't been serviced in a long time doesn't mean it needs to go to a dealer - it's not magic! your rough running at idle is probably carbs out of balance.

is this bike a 2 stroke?
-
it's the screws in the toe slider.........makes my eyes water just thinking about them! hope the new ones are better.

caustic soda. nasty stuff but effective.
-
could be the seal in the pressure cap on the radiator isn't sealing. lower pressure = lower boiling point.

Oooooh I lurve my Daytona's.....wouldn't have anything else...well maybe. Held make a boot that looks surprisingly similar to the Sidi, but in leather and only £105. Sidi's have always crippled me.

interesting, and were circumstances different i'd be up for it. Unfortunately I am not available this weekend. Thanks all the same.

maybe the wheel is out of true? flat spotted?
-
A couple of mates use them for racing, but don't use them on the road. They say they're too cumbersome.
-
where do you feel the vibration? through the bars would suggest front wheel balance or bearings. through the footpegs might suggest an engine problem such as main or big end bearings, but as it's speed related it's more likely to be front wheel, as stu said. find another mechanic is sound advice.

stuck float. split diaphragm. wrongly connected carbs.

Advice please - what kind of luggage??
flipper replied to a topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
I've used a tankbag for years ithout any problems. Just make sure it's clean underneath when you put it on. A tailpack is easier to ride with though, as it never gets in your way! -
crash bungs needed - which ones though?

The thing here is that professional racers are given a helmet to wear by the helmet manufacturer, so they wear it, whatever it is, and get paid for doing so. It is not an indication that it is the best helmet they could be wearing. The same is true of all their kit, as said before.
