  1. OK thanks last time I went (in january) it was damp but not soaking wet and it dried up towards the afternoon so I'm hoping it will be similar this time... pretty much no chance at all of it being completely dry when I first get there at 8 in the morning. Although looking on the BBC weather forecast it says rain for both days anyway, time for me to get some sleep ready for the finger numbing half hour ride out to the track tomorrow morning. Please dont be snowy
  2. Yeah that was something I've been meaning to ask actually, roughly how many laps are we talking before your tyres are warm enough for you to start going for it? I know there is no exact answer to that question but at the moment I have no idea at all so to me it could be 2 or it could be 20... so if you can give me any rough idea it would be better than what I've got at the moment
  3. Yay this has finally come around Just been out on my bike though and its bloody freeeeezing. As long as it doesnt snow tomorrow and isnt too wet then I'm happy, its been quite sunny here for the last couple of days so here's hoping! I'll update this thread tomorrow or Sunday with some video from the track
  4. If my two track days this weekend at Cadwell are good then I'll probably book this next week (assuming I can get the day off work anyway)
  5. Nice one will look forward to seeing your track day skillzzz
  6. Take a look at this thread for some example footage from about 4 different cameras (ignore the thread name): http://www.themotorbikeforum.com/viewto ... 32&t=28463
  7. Oh nevermind I found that the thread has been split and the camera related parts moved into the Accessories forum
  8. Yeah I know what you mean, but its a lot better quality than my last camera even on youtube so im happy with that and if I make any decent videos I'll probably just leave them uploading overnight if they are gonna take ages to upload in good quality. Yeah cadwell track days this weekend (both days) and I'll certainly get some footage from that (so you can laugh at how many people overtake me) just hoping the weather is as nice as it is today, its bone dry here!
  9. Am I going crazy or are there a load of posts missing from this thread :S I could have sworn I posted a video in here last night and that there were way more posts from me and phil discussing different cameras...
  10. Went out at the weekend with the new camera, its really good video quality but the audio is just killed by the massive amount of wind noise. Here's an example but its no where near full quality (or full size) cos it was going to take 6 hours to upload to youtube in its original quality! It was originally 700 MB and I've shrunk it down to 50 MB so I think the quality is pretty good considering how much smaller the file is now... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pAW5CwQuS6E
  11. same here haha maybe I should rephrase that to "if I can still afford it"
  12. Well yeah if you say its really worth the money and I havent got bored of track riding by then, I'd probably be up for that
  13. I think I would be interested in doing something like this, but I think I'll wait to hear your review of it in May first as it is a lot of money especially considering its not even completely one on one training all day from what I have read on the website: PS - bit random but here is a nice little video with Valentino Rossi showing a few basic track riding tips http://www.ebike-ridingtips.co.uk/video.php
  14. What do you guys search for on ebay to find track bikes? I've been searching for things like just "track bike 600" or "race bike 600" and although I do get results, none of them seem to be what I want (ie within my budget and the type of bike I want)
  15. Well my camera came yesterday... but I was asleep! So it didnt get signed for and therefore didnt get delivered Shame as I was out on the bike quite a bit this weekend and it was nice n sunny (freezing though, but you cant tell that on video ) Going to see if I can pick it up on the way to work tomorrow but wont be able to use it until next weekend so it better be nice weather! Then its my 2 track days at cadwell the weekend after that so hopefully I will have figured out how to use it etc by then
  16. lol manchester isnt quite as far away as the west coast of Wales I drive to Manchester (well Bury, pretty near I think) every Friday for work
  17. Thanks guys, I'll keep an eye on ebay for the next few weeks and see how much various bikes go for. Still havent decided if I want to sell my car yet though so I could have considerably less money than I would like to spend on a track bike..
  18. lol yeah, you'll have to take some video at one of your many track days and post it here for us to see what its like
  19. Really? I'm kind of worried that I might not really enjoy the 2 I've got booked for February if its wet..
  20. Well I went ahead and bought the Contour HD 720 today, should arrive on saturday Got them to do me a decent deal: Camera + 2 spare batteries (so 3 in total) + spare sticky pads + 8 GB memory card for £250 Considering the camera alone is £225 on the website, I think thats quite good
  21. Hmm I'm hacked off with ebay at the moment cos I just tried to sell something on there and after the third attempt I finally got to the end of the selling thing and then it wants to identify me by ringing my house phone, so I put my number in and it rang me and I entered the code that I was told on the phone, but every time it just said "incorrect code" so after 5 attempts I gave up... As for the bike, it looks just like a road bike to me - from reading the description it looks like its basically just the suspension and exhaust that have been changed. I'm not bothered about getting one that I can ride to/from the track any more as I've realised the insurance + tax + MOT just makes it too expensive. Basically just going to wait to get my Audi A3 back from the garage (which should be next week but knowing this garage it could be next month!) and see if after I've done these 2 track days in Feb whether or not I want to sell the car and get a track bike Oh yeah and a quick question for you Phil - on your track bike, have you got the gears inverted like they do on proper race bikes? i.e. 1 up 5 down rather than 1 down 5 up like on a normal road bike. If you have, do you ever forget and go up a gear when you mean to go down (and vice versa) ?
  22. Yeah its not the strapping it once its on the trailer that I see being a problem, its actually getting the bike onto the trailer in the first place up the thin steep loading ramp. I'm sure its not as hard as I'm imagining though as a lot of people must do it on their own without a problem.
  23. Even if that is the case (and trust me I would still get lost) its still the opposite side of the country to me lol I'm on the east coast and its on the west coast... I'll just stick to Cadwell for now
  24. haha muppet
  25. Yeah they look quite weak but I guess they must be able to cope with the weight of a bike... and I might not have much choice if I cant fit a normal trailer in anywhere. Also just looking at pictures of trailers on ebay, it looks like it would be damn hard to get a bike onto one without someone else helping as the loading ramps for most of them are very short (and therefore steep) and thin...
