  1. Darn, there goes my chance of putting in a faster lap than you then On a semi-related note, I bought some petrol cans today to fill up and take with me... cost £40 in total just for the cans! I got a 20L one and a 10L one, hopefully that should be enough Off to fill em up now..
  2. Yeah I told them it needs to be ready to drive and with the towbar fitted for 7 AM Friday morning so I'm picking it up on Thursday after work. If its not ready for some reason then I guess I'll have to just go do the track day on my road bike but I'll be a bit gutted as one of the reasons I needed to buy a car today and not spend more time finding a car I really wanted was so that I could use it this Friday.. we will see though!
  3. haha I did sit on it a few times but no brum brum noises I havent taken any pictures yet because there's so much crap in the garage that is in the way that I cant get it out yet lol i'll take some during the week though once I shift it Oh and I bought a car today and got them to throw in the purchase and fitting of a tow bar with the price of the car its a red 2004 Seat Leon n I'm picking it up on Thursday so will have it for Friday morning for cadwell dont you love it when a plan comes together! Only slight problem remaining now is actually picking the trailer up from the place im renting it from, I'm hoping they will be able to drop it off at my house while im at work on thursday as I only live about 10 mins away from them...
  4. lol neither can I the car/towbar/trailer situation is proving to be a bit of a problem though! Travelled 70 miles to look at a car that had a towbar and was a car I vaguely like and was a decent price but then the garage wouldnt let me test drive it because it was late afternoon and they didnt have enough people in to cover while one of them went out with me for a test drive :S why the hell didnt they tell me that when I rang up and said I'll be there in an hour and a half to test drive it! Getting a bit desperate now as tomorrow is the last day that I'm not going to be at work all day before the next track day at cadwell... So I'm thinking rather than try and get a car with a towbar already fitted I just buy any car that I want (which shouldnt be too hard to do tomorrow hopefully) and get a towbar fitted during the week by one of those mobile towbar fitting companies - anyone know of any that operate in Hull or York? Googling now but not having much luck so far..
  5. Just off to take some pics now dont worry
  6. Yeah it does get pretty expensive if you are renting a bike I guess Could you not just buy a really cheap track bike? Cant be much more than it would cost to keep renting bikes
  7. Bike was delivered today, cant wait to go ride it on the track! So much more of a sporty riding position than my CBR600 though, which might take a bit of getting used to.. Got a trailer sorted for Friday n Saturday (just renting it) so now I just need to go buy a car with a towbar, which I will hopefully be doing this afternoon
  8. Yeah I'm probably going to do the evening as well I'm always gutted when its the end of the day and you have to go home so it will be great to have another few hours still to go when it comes to 5 oclock (though I will probably be knackered by then..)
  9. Ah cool I cant find many track days in April (at cadwell anyway) but hopefully I'll have a trailer soon so can go to some other tracks... let me know when you get your next one booked and I'll see if its one I can get to
  10. Ah I see, sounds like a plan. You gonna do any before then you think? remind me about this one nearer the time and I'll book it (dont want to book it yet, a lot can happen in 3 or 4 months!)
  11. yeah that is a long way off but it sounds good to me I thought you weren't getting a bike until winter though?
  12. haha I think he was indicating that I could go past him (he was one of the instructors)
  13. lol yeah i cant wait to go back, just hope the weather is as good as it was yesterday there! I think my best time yesterday was 2 mims 6 seconds, so hopefully thats gd enough for inters ps the second half of that video is a bit better, lots more overtaking
  14. Here's some other bits from the day (it does get more interesting after the first 2 minutes!) ">
  15. Thanks guys, it was a really good day Couldnt ask for better weather, bright sunshine for pretty much the entire day! There were more people on this one than any that I've done previously (about 20 of us in the same group) and I've improved a bit since last time as well (knocked 9 seconds off my best lap time ) so I got to do quite a lot of overtaking. There were a couple of people that got away from me but one guy that did ended up crashing about 30 seconds after he overtook me, I cam round a corner and saw him rolling down a hill and bits of fairing flying all over the place Here's a video from the last session of the day, where there was only me and 3 other people on the track as everyone else had gone home! I guess you probably cant tell from the video how much more confident I felt and cant really see how much faster I was going but it felt like I was doing so much better than all of my previous track days. I even managed to overtake a couple of people going into Mansfield corner which was one of my worst corners before "> I've made another video of the highlights of the day for me but that is going to take a while to upload to youtube so I'll edit this post and embed it here once its done
  16. Well I'm all excited as I've got my 4th track day tomorrow, which is at Cadwell Park (as usual ). Doing this one on my road bike again as the track bike I've bought isn't arriving until Saturday so I'm hoping I don't bin it! Forecast looks good though, sun all day apparently... I just hope it is right for once, haven't done a completely dry track day yet! Anyway, the spare battery and memory card for my camera arrived today so should be able to film all of the sessions and I'll upload a few of the interesting bits to youtube tomorrow night and post them in this thread
  17. haha I bet that felt so much worse than it looks on camera as well... and it looked pretty scary on camera! Did you have full wet tyres on there?
  18. Well I ended up not doing this and looking at cars / track bikes instead lol quite glad really as it was pretty wet around here all weekend. Got a track day this thursday though so will see what thats like
  19. Bought that R6 today for £1500 Getting delivered next weekend http://www.trackdayriders.co.uk/uploads/20090723_174530_tn_2009-06-13_1.jpg http://www.trackdayriders.co.uk/uploads/20090619_182441_tn_2009-06-13_1.jpg Now I just need to buy a new car, get a towbar fitted, and get a trailer... then im good to go
  20. Didnt realise you were doing another one this week, and I thought I was keen! Look forward to seeing the vids

  22. Hmmm perhaps you are just saying that so that I dont get too much practice in before the 13th
  23. Yeah I did wonder about that but then I thought well surely everyone really quick will be in the 2 ACU groups... plus I think a lot of people have assumed that because its labelled as an ACU day then they cant go because they dont have an ACU license. I dunno, its the car situation that is holding me back more than anything - if I dont go and look at cars on saturday then its pretty likely that when I give the car back on sunday afternoon I will not have got a replacement car (unless I buy like the first one I see on sunday morning...) and I travel about 600 miles in the week to get to work and back so doing all that on a bike in this weather would suck. Then of course if I crashed my bike at the track day I would be totally stuck... I guess realistically I need to go car shopping instead dont I
  24. Tempted to book this... only £59 with Hottrax. Its officially an ACU race test day but as well as the 2 ACU groups they also have an intermediate group where people without an ACU license can go on the track like any other track day. I'm not sure if I am ready for inters yet though (was planning on having another 2 novice group days before doing inters on March 13th) and I'm supposed to be car shopping this weekend... which I need to do as I've got to give my current car back soon as they have now given me all my money back for it. I'm thinking maybe I could just use my bike to get to work for a week though but if it snows or something then I'm gonna be stuffed. So basically, it would be pretty daft to do this track day on Saturday... but I cant wait to get back on the track! Plus I need to practice so that I can beat PhilGale on the 13th haha just kidding. What do you reckon, should I do it? Anyone else doing it?
  25. aw that sucks, nice write up though hope to see you on track sometime soon though
