Well I'll see, I might want to be in novice for the first day I dunno. I know in inters I'm gonna be one of the slowest lol I think if its dry I might stand a little bit of a better chance cos I didnt dare try to keep up with anyone with wet tyres on at the track yesterday when i've just got bog standard road tyres on. If I get to go to this track day on 4th March then I'll see what I feel like after that and decide if I wanna move to inters for the 12th then (if there are any spaces left in inters by then anyway). As for camping over, I'll stick around for a couple of hours after the track sessions but I think I'll head home for a decent night's sleep and then come back in the morning. Thanks for the tent offer anyway though

Enjoy! You gonna take any video or will your new camera not have arrived by then? I meant to ask as well, how are you planning on mounting the gopro to your bike? They only seem to do suction mounts or adhesive mounts for it and I cant see any kind of screw hole or anything on it that you could use to attach it to the bike securely.. They actually came and asked me at my last track day if my camera was screwed on to the fairing and not just using suction/adhesive mount, I said yes and they gave it a bit of a tug n it didnt come off so they believed me... glad it didnt fall off half way round the track!

12th is already booked in novice but I'm gonna put myself down for inters for the 13th and see how I get on

From what I understand, an open pit lane day is where rather than having 20 minute sessions on the track you can just go out and ride for as long as you want whenever you want. Obviously there is a limit to how many are allowed on the track at once and its this that I've heard bad things about... people saying that they had to wait hours to get on track and that its dangerous cos the really fast guys are out there with the novices. Anyone been to one and if so what was it like? Do you think one this early in the year would really be that busy? Cheers Chris

I think its safe to say I have got the track day bug... I noticed that No Limits dont have any more track days at cadwell now until mid march.. and I cant wait that long! So I found this one on the 4th of March (Thursday) which is put on by the guys that actually run cadwell, MotorSportVision - http://www.clubmsv.com/bike-home/event- ... ductid=311 Its a Novice Only day but all that means is that you cant have done more than 3 track days before - lucky for me I have done 3 exactly Having said that, I went to a Novice Only day for my first track day back in January and there were a few guys there that were clearly not novices at all and must have done way more than 3 track days. Should find out tomorrow if I can get the time off work and if so then I'll book it tomorrow night, if anyone else thinks they might go then post here and we can meet up on the day

yeah mansfield is by far my worst bit of the track... I got overtaken by 3 people at once on that corner when I was in with the inters session! haha Well I'll leave the Friday as being in the novice group then and book the saturday in inters (at least then I've had an extra days practice before going in inters)

Here's the video, the last 3 minutes is probably the most interesting bit as I was fighting with another guy and eventually got past him on chris curve (the same guy that I was right behind at the start of the video) ...but he might have just let me past as it was the last lap, I dunno. That was the most fun part of the weekend cos it was the only time when I had someone of a similar level to me (well, he was probably a bit better cos I only caught up cos he got stuck in traffic) to race against and it actually be close. Everyone else was either too fast for me or too slow for me lol I made a lot of mistakes in this video and some of my lines are terrible but I found I always seem to mess up when I'm chasing someone.. I guess its just from trying too hard to keep up. haha well I might find it a bit hard to judge the two of you as I'll be about 20 bikes behind you I'm tempted to book that saturday as well now as the friday in March that I've already got booked... If I do book it then I dont know whether to go for novice or inters - I think really I should go in novice but it would be nice to be in the same group as you so that I actually knew someone on the track lol

Yeah I did see him, dont think I spoke to him though... and yeah it was soaked the majority of the time. A couple of guys in the fast group crashed in hall bends today cos it was so slippy - oh and someone crashed on the first sighting lap in the intermediate group! Delayed everything for about 40 mins while they cleaned up all the oil he left on the track, think they had to take the guy to hospital too. Sounds like he was either getting a bit carried away for a sighting lap, or something was wrong with his bike. So come on then, who's better out of you and your brother? Nice bit of sibling rivalry there? Oh and as for what times I was doing, I think the ones that I looked at from the first day were like 2:30 or something stupidly bad like that but not sure about today... video is uploading to youtube now (mostly stuff from the first day in there though cos it was too wet today)

haha yeah its still good fun though Oh and I compared one of your cadwell laps that you did in one of the videos you posted with one of mine that I filmed and you put me to shame haha Are you in inters at the ones in March at cadwell then? Just putting a little video together now

Well today was more of the same really, the weather was on and off constantly. Raining one minute then sunshine the next (though more rain than yesterday). I had a good time still though, although I did nearly run off the track at one point haha and I was hampered a bit by the fact that I was just on normal road tyres and most other people were on proper wet weather tyres, but I was surprised how much grip I still had on the road tyres. On the last session they put novice and inters all together... now I thought I was going fairly well in novice, I was overtaking quite a few people and there were only a couple of people that seemed to really get away from me easily (and in my opinion they were way too fast for the novice group) so I thought maybe I could keep up with a few people in inters.. but my god I was wrong. They all just left me for dust haha it got quite frustrating trying to keep up with them, specially when I kept messing up the lines and making silly mistakes (at one point I somehow change down a gear when I meant to change up!). But then I suppose I've got to think that this was only my 3rd track day ever so I cant expect to be much good yet... specially on a bog standard road bike. Looking forward to doing some in the dry though cos I think riding in the wet will have built my confidence in the dry up quite a bit. Also looking forward to there being more people on track cos I find it quite boring when you don't see another bike for the entire session...

Just got back from day 2 at cadwell, didnt film much today cos it was raining for the majority of it. I'll edit it up, get it on youtube n post it here shortly though Not too impressed with the camera so far, it cut one of the clips short by about 10 mins for no apparent reason... battery wasnt dead, SD card wasnt full, it just stopped filming half way through one of the sessions. Thinking of getting a refund and getting the GoPro HD instead but I'll see if the place I got it from (dogcamsport.co.uk) are willing to trade it like that first.

How much did they set you back though? and I dont have any way of getting them to the track at the mo anyway lol Anyway, just got back from the first day at Cadwell - was icy in the morning so they didnt let us start until 10 AM but then as there werent a lot of people they split us into 2 groups instead of 3 so that we got 30 mins per session instead of 20 mins which was good. Then it was sunny and started to dry up.. but about half way through one of my sessions it started raining again Then it dried up a bit again over dinner... then rained again as soon as we got out.. then dried up a bit again for the last couple of sessions lol so quite a mixed day. I did get some footage but I foolishly took the camera out in one of the sessions where it was raining a bit and ended up with water inside the lens. It also didnt record audio for 2 of the sessions... so I'm going to see if I can get a replacement camera next week. I'll upload some of the more interesting bits of the video tomorrow night
