  1. Glad to hear you had a good time mate I've been in the same situation where the first few sessions absolutely suck and you consider just going home there and then... but 9 times out of 10 if you stick with it you end up enjoying it again after a few more laps and most importantly, you didn't bin it this time Looking forward to CSS on the 10th? I called and found that you definitely can camp on the track site so I'm gonna head down on the sunday and park there n sleep in the car. Just need to buy a trailer next weekend now... after the one I was renting had a wheel bearing blow and the wheel ended up pretty much hanging off while I was driving it! I'll PM you my mobile number sometime soon as well.
  2. woah this seems to have got a bit more interest since I last looked at this thread shame its so far away still not sure which group I'm going to be in but will hopefully be able to tell you after the track day on the 11th May. Feels like I havent done any track days for ages (in reality I think its about 3 weeks) and I'm going to have forgotten half the stuff I've learnt... but I'm guessing it all comes back quite quickly once you have done a couple of laps on track.
  3. calm down we have got CSS on the 10th to look forward to first
  4. I would agree that you should go for inters rather than novice - yeah sure a lot of people will be faster than you (and me!) but you will be surprised how many people in inters still go pretty slow. On my 4th track day I was in novice and although it was quite nice being one of the fastest in the group it did feel like I had picked the wrong group and should have gone in inters. PS I got my holiday dates moved today so definitely on for the new dates
  5. haha no get the cameras on, its about time we saw someone passing you and not the other way around
  6. I think they do all tend to be 4 sessions, as they just have 2 groups instead of 3 and most are run from about 5 PM - 8 PM. Cant really get any more than 4 sessions in within that time. One thing that made me laugh on the MSV website was that they promoted evening sessions as a way to relax after a hard day at work - I would hardly say tearing round a track at 140 mph is relaxing!
  7. I wish more track days were on weekends
  8. maybe you should change the link in the Site News section to point to the new one
  9. Yeah I've just emailed the school but afterwards thought its probably MSV that would know. I'll give them a call on Monday I hope you can camp as that would save a lot of hassle and yet more costs.
  10. haha yeah, come on phil keep up Damn I just found out my dad is gonna be away on that date so I probably wont be able to stay at his house... there's no way im getting up at 4 AM and driving down there on the morning so do you know of any good places to stay nearby that would have room for a bike trailer as well? EDIT: Actually, can you camp over at the track? Also, I agree I think I'll definitely want to do the cadwell track day the following day, but just trying to decide if I should do the full day or just the evening... If I drive home straight after the school then I should get home for about 9:30 (assuming the school finishes at 5 PM ish) so would be able to get an early night and head to Cadwell first thing in the morning, hmmm. This is gonna be a bloody expensive month lol I've already spent over £500 on having stuff done to the track bike and on doing a few track days
  11. I better not be, or I'm holding you personally responsible you think its a good idea to do the track day on the evening of the next day (so just 4 sessions) at cadwell to put things into practice that I've learnt? Just wondering if I'm gonna be too tired after the school and the 4 hours of travelling back home thats all.
  12. hmm yeah I might have to be sensible and wait until later in the year, its just so darn expensive
  13. just been watching a few videos of the brands hatch indy circuit and well... it looks so short! Dont you get bored of just going round the same 4 corners? They all look like fairly similar corners as well, just long sweeping ones (probably not in real life but thats what they all look like on the videos) - it looks like there isnt much variety to learn on... I'm fine with long sweeping corners its the rest of them I need most help with I wish the silverstone one was on this date as thats £70 cheaper, closer to me, and looks like it provides more variety. Is Brands more varied/interesting than it looks? Also, just looked at my bank balance and paying £450 right now is going to mean I'm absolutely skint by the end of this month lol still very tempted though..
  14. Why's that? I thought it had everything you could want from a motorbike race really..
  15. haha true... let me check my bank balance tonight and see if I can afford it. Also my dad lives about an hour away from brands so might see if I can stay there the night before - beats driving 4 hours straight there.
  16. Same, I'll pay for mine at the end of this month... if I can afford it, if not might have to just reserve a space and pay at the end of May
  17. Ah good stuff I wish it wasnt so far away, I dont mind paying £400 but its going to end up being more like £600 with the travel/accommodation costs included..
  18. Just noticed they have got some spaces on May 10th now... and I've got May 10th and 11th off work so I'm seriously considering doing it now. Just weighing up whether its worth missing a double at Cadwell - it will be a lot more expensive, a lot more travelling, probably less fun, but then I think I'm getting to the point now where it would be good to have some tuition so I know I'm doing things right. Need to decide quick though before they run out of spaces on either this or the cadwell track days! EDIT: Netty why do I think you are doing 10th May? I cant actually see it anywhere in this thread but I'm sure you said you were..
  19. Here's a video of one of the afternoon sessions: ">
  20. You are gonna have to change the counter in your sig PS think its worth starting a new thread for the new dates as this thread has got rather cluttered?
  21. Chris will do 4 Cadwell days in a week haha I think I have actually got 3 booked in one week in May But yeah by July I think I probably wont want to do 2 doubles there within a couple of weeks of each other, so 19th and 20th sound good to me - I'll see if I can change the days I've got booked off.
  22. haha I know it wasnt the fact that I didnt think I would make the corner, it was the shock of hitting something on the ground (not sure if it was my knee or something on the bike). As for Anglesey I wont be able to get 16th off work as I've already got 10th and 11th off for a Cadwell double Oh and here's a video of one of my 1:52 laps (I did 2, not sure which was fastest down to the miliseconds but this one will do) Some pretty crap lines through some parts, I always seem to find when I try and push myself to go faster I cant make all of the apexs... ">
  23. lol yeah I'm quite curious about that - obviously knowing the track well helps, but it doesnt take that long to learn the basic layout of a track so I'm keen to see if once I've been round another track for a few sessions I can put things I've learnt at Cadwell into practice there as well, or if you have to practice a lot at each track to be any good at it. Anyway, here's a video of me being stupid at Park corner ">
