  1. A couple of the guys who done their DAS at the same time as me wore boots which were ok. I would agree that bike boots aren't difficult to get used to (other than walking in!) and I actually found it easier to ride with them as mine have a hardened patch over the toe for the gear selector. Well done on booking the test though and hope it goes well!!
  2. Forgot all about this but it was suggested to me on the test to turn very slighty when pulling away towards the curb before performing the U turn. Don't know if this is some form of counter steering but made it easier to get round.
  3. Ade, I got a little less for the bike than I wanted but only £100 so not too bad. Alex, if you're ok with picking me up that'd be great. Could you make it to Harrow? The guy should be coming to pick up the bike at 1pm tomorrow.
  4. Ok, I got a bit of a problem. I can't actually get to the Ace as I'll have sold my bike. If there's anyone that still wants to go I'm willing to go pillion! Sorry everyone but it all happened so quickly. I only put the bike up for sale Thursday and got confirmation that someone wanted it yesterday... My number is in contacts if anyone wants to get in touch.
  5. sounds good, we can have a chat later this evening in Frimley about it.
  6. Cool, my number's in the contact section. I'll check back on this thread though Saturday evening. I'll be leaving from the BP Station in Bagshot by the way. Thanks Andy. Should be good. My mate that's coming hasn't been to the Ace and I only got to stay a short time last time so looking forward to it. Easter weekend should hopefully bring out more bikes too Enjoy Towcester (spelling...?)
  7. I'm not too sure on much but I do know I'll be leaving Bagshot at about 1:45pm and heading to the Ace Cafe. Think the route will be back roads (A332) past Windsor up to the M40 then down to Hanger Lane and then the A406 North Circular. I've got a mate meeting me in Bagshot and may need to pick someone up in North London. Let me know if you're interested!
  8. That's cool, will be good to kill a couple of hours before my other half finishes work. I won't get there til about 7 either as I have to travel over from central London.
  9. I'm coming this week! What time does everyone get there?
  10. Might do if the missus agrees to come along. What time are you getting there? I'll be in the car if I do come.
  11. Not this weekend I'm afraid! Should be good though, don't forget to have an ice-cream at the beach for me
  12. Well that was a waste of time.I got stuck in traffic at charing cross so thick I couldn't even filter through. Gave up and turned around.....
  13. Yeah I'll probably go in the opposite direction next time Paul so I'll let you know. Loomies wasn't bad. There were probably close to 50 bikes there. Friendly people and nice atmosphere. Didn't have any food but smelt and looked pretty good! I was reading on their website they have a meet every Wednesday evening.
  14. Well, that was a good ride yesterday! Ended up going down the route stated plus down the M27 and M275 into Portsmouth down to Eastney around the seafront to Gunwharf and back out of the city to Fareham, Stubbington, Hill Head, down some country lane with a field full of different coloured daffodils to the A27. Got back on the M27 at Jn7 then up the M3, M25, stop at Heathrow to watch the planes - geek!!! - back to the M25, M40 into London and back to Harrow. All in all about 200 miles. Met a few nice people at Loomies Cafe on the A32 (located at junction between A32 and A272) and a couple of bikers at the Winchester services on the M3. Didn't stop at Portsdown Hill, came out of Portsmouth on the M275, missed the exit for Paulsgrove to get back to Portsdown hill and couldn't be faffed to turn around! Got a feeling I'll be doing that one again at somepoint soon (weekend day probably a Sunday) so will post up a bit earlier next time!
  15. Hi know its a bit last minute but I'm heading down to Portsmouth this morning as the weather looks ok. I'll be leaving central london (st pauls) at 10.30 heading down through knightsbridge towards the m3 coming off at Jn4 then down the a331 then down the a32 to fareham then down to portsmouth along the m27 and m275. If anyone is interested in joining me my number is in the contacts section.
  16. I know a post has already been put up for this in the bike chat forum but wanted to see if anyone else would be up for joining me. http://www.themotorbikeforum.com/viewto ... b4#p391523 Basically Westminster council are introducing parking fees for bikes and the thought is that other london boroughs are looking at doing the same. I've just started commuting into London and it saves me considerable money being able to use my bike. Losing this priviledge would cost me around 1k a year so I'll be going down to show my disgust at the thought of the fees being brought in elsewhere. I work by St.Pauls so a 10min ride for me to Trafalgar Square. If you wanted to meet me I will be leaving Farringdon Road (between Fleet Street and the Holborn Viaduct) at 5:45pm. Would be great to see you if you could make it. The website for the get together is http://www.notobikeparkingfees.com
  17. Hey Ade, I'm down that way quite often with the missus being from camberley so if I'm about on a Thursday I'll certainly let you know. Will be moving to Egham I think towards the end of the year so could make it a regular thing then.
  18. Its on Hill Head Road. If you're coming from Fareham, carry on as if you're going to Stubbington, go straight at the roundabout where you would turn right to go to the village green and its the right turn just before the shell garage. Lovely views. Would have been perfect out in the beer garden yesterday!
  19. Not much really, would just be a nostalgic trip back (I spent a few years down in pompey) and just cos I want to ride that road! Ah yes, the burgervan on Portsdown hill! I never actually had anything to eat from there although I heard good things! Doesn't help I don't eat beef though.... Have you been to the Osborne pub in Stubbington Jixxerman? I used to like that pub a lot overlooking the Isle of Wight
  20. Go on the DSA website, you can enter your area to find out when and where tests are available without having to commit to one.
  21. I'd be up for meeting you there as long as Yamaha's are welcome too!
  22. That'd be cool. Just let me know when and I'll see if I got the date free. My other half lives in Camberley so was thinking about doing a trip down to Pompey if you're up for coming too? I really want to take my bike down the A32. Used to drive down there loads and always wished I'd had a bike to enjoy it!! Now I have
  23. I've just moved back to London and am quite close to the Ace Cafe so if anyone fancies going down feel free to give me a shout. Apologies if this has gone on the wrong bit of the forum!
  24. Not going to be able to make this one. Get the bike back on the saturday but have the assesment for the DAS then Sunday going to parents house for mums birthday.
  25. I might be up for meeting you there on the 22nd depending on what hours my gf is doing at work. Have my assesment for the DAS on the 21st
