  1. I would like to get some headphones to mount inside my helmet. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what's hot and what's not, I want something like this, but at £2.58 somehow I don't think it's going to have the best sound quality in the world! Thanks!
  2. It's illegal in the UK to have a camera inside your helmet as far as I'm aware. I think you should concentrate on riding for a while before looking at taking videos. But if you don't care then try http://www.actioncameras.co.uk
  3. I almost never go straight up to the lights when filtering. 90% of the time they'll have gone green when I'm about 30m away so I just pull back into the traffic. I sometimes go to the front of a jam if I'm confident I can pull away safely from the lead car.
  4. Yeah I think this has been posted before. It's a good idea. We need more bikers in this country! It's the way forward.
  5. Some of the foam ones might give a lil protection for your nads if you have to stop rather quickly.
  6. Ok with the winter months approaching I'm already finding the roads to be in a less than desirable condition. Any quickfire tips on safer riding? Especially with things like roundabouts and junctions, I'm pretty good with my distancing from the car in front for breaking distances etc. But finding I'm taking roundabouts almost excessively slow? So much so cars are clinging to my rear. I know I should ride in my comfort zone/to my ability but I'd like to not be aggravating other drivers. This is probably a popular topic so just point me in the right direction if I've missed a majorly obvious thread about it! =P
  7. I give a lil nod to (I hate it when people do massive nods or whatever it just looks silly, I mean with the head, waves etc are fine) anyone on geared motorcycle pretty much. Besides chavs on their two stroke whatevers. So long as they look the business I guess.
  8. Sell the old one to some chav mug on ebay for a few bob and get a nice shiny new one! Two birds with one stone, less chavs on the road and your girlfriend will still be alive if you crash (i.e., you can still get laid). It's a win-win situation!
  9. Hey I have 2 of these radios and it's my friend's birthday on Wednesday; he's going to be getting a Bandit 600 with his savings + birthday scrimpings. So we'll be able to go for rides together and would like the luxury of talking to one and other. Now these old 2-ways I have do have a VOX function (voice activated instead of push to talk), and the oregon scientific website have headsets that will plug into the radios also. Question is, will these headsets be any good (I'm kind of leaning towards the idea that they would be no good on a motorcycle going 70mph+, seeing as how much some places charge for noise cancelling mics) and if not what will fit the connections on the radios so they are suitable? The connection on the radio looks like half the size of a 3.5mm jack lead so I'm not sure what else'll fit it? Any help on the matter would be greatly appreciated.
  10. Yeah they are sort of important bits, around where the right indicator is held. I'll look into this plastic welding, thanks.
  11. So I've had my first bike 4 days and I've dropped it already (*sigh*), damage is just broken fairing (and the right indicator has come off with it). I've got all the bits, should I just glue it back together or what? (there are only 3 bits broken off and they're not so small that they'd be to fidily to put back on). I'll get pictures up later on if required. It fell over on its right side onto pretty cushy grass so there isn't any scratches to worry about.

    Wheel spokes

actual wheels sorry I'm not a bike terminology expert (yet).

    Wheel spokes

The wheel spokes on my bike (kawasaki gpx 250) are purple unfortunately, while I'm not the least bit insecure about my sexuality I'd like to respray them black. What's the best paint to use, and other tips? Thanks.
  14. Did module 1 last tuesday and passed with 2 minors. At the first set off towards the park and dis-mount bit I forgot to shoulder check (nerves, just forgot all about it on that occasion) and then apparently I forgot another shoulder check on another maneuver later on in the test, I forget when. The slalom and figure of eight were both fine, just remember use the width space that's provided to your advantage otherwise you run the risk of going too wide or going to close to one of the cones, there's no need to show off and get the bike into full steering lock. Then the U turn was ok, slightly wobbly from the set-off, nerves again I guess, but completed the turn fine. Then slowride, which was fine. Then I did the high-speed avoidance, I went up to 2nd gear as I entered the turn and kept the bike at around 20mph, leaning the bike a fair bit so I could keep the power on and then accelerate out of the corner to save time on the straight towards the speed-trap. I got 53kph and 54kph on the avoidance and the emergency stop respectively. The emergency stop was similar, 2nd gear leaning the bike around the corner and then opening the bike up towards the end of the bend. I had no problems stopping in time. That's my experience, I've got my module 2 on Thursday, which I reckon will be a bit more of a challenge!
  15. Yeah I got a fairly high end Hjc helmet in the end, for £115 it's holding up very well during my big bike training, possibly the only downside is it's a bit loud over 50 but that's a given I guess unless I get a helmet specifically made to be quiet. Very happy with it.
  16. Size 11 mate, unlikely that you'll have that size but worth a try haha! Thanks for the offer, let me know.
  17. Ok well it seems I'll be going over my budget, also having realised I don't have to pay off my bike test full amount until after I've passed mod2. Here's what I'm getting/got: Helmet: HJC IS-16 http://www.bikingdirect.com/helmets/hjc ... t/24757-p/ Jacket: £80 New and tagged ebay job (http://www.hein-gericke.co.uk/shop/prod ... ts_id/5018) Gloves: Gear Euro WP http://www.bikingdirect.com/clothing/ge ... s/21740-p/
  18. Thanks for the tip bud, I'm gonna go for these: http://www.gpleathers.com/component/vir ... egory_id=5 Decent looking winter gloves with a bit more protection than most I've seen out there. As for the helmet chat, I'm not really fussed, so long as it passes all the safety standards that's all I could ask for. Of course later on I will invest in more expensive options.
  19. I need: Helmet Gloves Jacket (Textile or Leather) Dragging Jeans preferably? I might hold out on the boots, I've got a pair of military boots, it depends what you guys think. I'll be riding through winter but I already have some thermals and stuff like that so that's not a problem. Should I get winter gloves straight away if I'm getting the bike within the next month or two? Or just get summer gloves and hold out on the winter ones until it gets cooler around October time? Also what's the best way to shop for all this, with a helmet especially I know that the fit can vary greatly even on helmets of the same size from different companies (I can get my head comfortably in a XS but I put on a L and it pinched at the top of my head). I'll be riding a sports tourer of some description if that's relevant, probably a gs500 or sv650, money permitting. Advice, thoughts, opinions and critisism welcome!
