  1. I have an HJC CS-R1 Rating wasn't there when I bought, now I see it's 1* Is this anything to be worried about? HJC was about the only make that fitted my head nice!
  2. I found we practiced on a much smaller road than that used for test before I was cacking it, but the test was easy
  3. I have a Forcefield back protector - very nice, cost quite a bit tho However, I have a knox insert for my jacket. Sometimes on a short trip I wont wear back protector etc ... so handy to have then!
  4. LOL - looks like Robocop!
  5. Korben - thanks 20-30% is the sort of answer I expected Fit is hard for me (body builder and only 5'8"), but RST seemed about right fit I know differences, just wanted someone to quantify Thanks to both of you
  6. I have RST Rift textiles. 2 piece that zips together. (along with original armour, additional Knox back armour, and Forcefield back protector) I was thinking of maybe getting the equivalent gear in leather for the summer, so it is cooler etc. However, I was wondering, for road use (i.e. not stupid top speeds like on a track), how much better would leathers be than textiles? I know people say it's better, but by how much? Assuming a very bad case and someone comes off at 100 or something ... Also, I was wondering how much cooler and more practical they are Can someone try and quantify, in a make for make comparison (i.e. RST Rift leathers/textiles) e.g. Leathers would be around 20% cooler, and 50% more protective ????? Has anyone come off at high speed with textiles? (slide, not impact) How did they do? Thanks
  7. I had my stuff before I bought my bike, mainly 'cos I wanted to be safe and warm during CBT I have same gear, just textiles not leathers
  8. Thanks I'll probably try some stock ones on before ordering a custom size tho
  9. bbobeckyj - Thanks for help, couple more questions 1. How 'light' are they compared to other jeans. I mean, am I gonna sweat my bollox off in the summer, or are they like regular jeans? 2. If you have armour, does it get in the way (like on textiles), or is it discrete? Thanks
  10. Cool - thanks bbobeckyj Only issue is that I can't try them on first ... so a gamble
  11. I've got BIG legs (body builder/power lifter) and never find jeans to fit. With a 34" waist I need to usually get 38-40" jeans, just to get my legs in the holes, and even that's dependant on make Some makes (Animal for example) fit OK. Are there any makes that I should look for that have a really loose fit? Obviously if I'm wearing them on a bike they need to fit perfect. Also, anywhere I can try them on near Salisbury, Southampton, Bournemouth etc? Thanks
  12. For SatNav, get a symbian phone, and buy the TomTom software (or use AmazeGPS - it's free), then you can navigate via headphones
  13. When I was in Italy last summer, I was driving around 70MPH in a car, and a bike shot past me, I'd say at least 100MPH. Rider - Trainers / Shorts Pillion - Flip Flops / Bikini ... and that's it, no boots, no jacket, no gloves, no helmet, no top (for the man). They may as well both been naked
  14. OKay, question for you guys - put these in order of importance ... I know you need them all ... but interesting to see what you'd choose if you were limited to a handful. Currently alphabetically Back protector Boots (motorcycle) Extra armour (chest and new inserts for elbows etc) Gloves (armoured) Helmet Jacket (armoured, leather or textile) Trousers (larmoured, eathers or textile)
  15. I've now bought a forcefield insert - apparently the L2 one may be tight so I opted for L1. So the least I'd ride with now is Helmet Gloves Jacket with forcefield back protector insert Jeans (Usually boots too) On any decent trip I'll add my full back protector and textile trousers
  16. Just more to carry if I'm walking about. 9/10 I'll wear my full one anyway
  17. I know mate - but do you always kit up fully?
  18. Maybe I should pop to HG shop when I'm out and about next. And idea on above two? Thx
  19. Philgale I have a full back protector already, a good one. Parapanfan I appreciate the "all the kit all the time" saying, but realistically, if I want to ride 1 mile into town for work, I'm not going to put on trousers, back protector, etc etc, then change when I get there. Probably ideal, but how many people do that? I'll always be wearing jeans, gloves, helmet, jacket at very least, but though an insert would be a little bit more. On any substancial trip, I'd wear full kit All Could always get the forcefield insert, that's pretty decent, but again too big and I'd not be able to trim
  20. For long rides I have a Forcefield back protector which I strap on, the one with the highest safety rating. But for those short trips to the shops where I bung my jacket on, I need an insert for my jacket. I have an RST Rift (2008) Textile jacket in XXL The pocket measures 38x29cm This seems like the basic one, that I'd probably go for, seems to be in most jackets: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/KNOX-BACK-PROTECT ... 0362277246 But it says 39cm high, so will it fit in mine? This seems like the expensive version, but even the small one is 40cm high: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FORCEFIELD-PRO-L2 ... 0331828591 This would be good, but unable to cut. It looks similar to my main one Just wondered if anyone has a jacket like mine, or knows the exact size of back inserts? Could I cut the knox one? Thanks
  21. Only ones that were comfortable for me were HJC - I believe this is most important. Then I'm sure make/model does ... but fit is most important
  22. I have the forcefield one and it's very comfy and robust
  23. Foggy mask is good, but I found it wasn't nice to have on
  24. I know that, and I have absolutely no problem socialising with them - you're missing the point Don't want to sound like an arse, but feel like you do know what I mean just being difficult. I think that's the one
  25. I mean it more the other way ... All hell's angels are bikers Not all bikers are hell's angels I want a pub that is for the latter, i.e. all bikers (including but not limited to) hell's angels Not one that is for hell's angels only I don't know what the correct term for a biker like a Hell's Angel is, but the pubs I want to visit should have all kinds of bikers. Does that make sense? Don't want to offend anyone, and there is no biker I wouldn't want to socialise with, I just don't want to go to a pub and find that everyone has Harleys and I'm the only one with a sports bike and look like a tit ... if that makes sense
