  1. At least, for CBT and at first a decent jacket is better than the coat which I wore last time, right?
  2. I could always get a jacket now, then protector later as they can be separate, right? Money is an issue as I'm still doing training, just want to be warm/dry when on the road all day. I appreciate that kit will grow, and I'll upgrade etc. I don't want to compromise safety, but another £100 here and there soon adds up ... Thanks
  3. I can ask them where CE armour is - but do I need a back protector. Here's the situation, I know nothing about this, I'm a newbie I don't want to spend a lot This RST one has no back armour, but better make, £70: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0247327618 If someone can point me in the right direction it would be appreciated Thanks guys
  4. Cool Had a look on their site and the only offers seem to have no support Seen the nitro ones on there though: https://www.jsaccessories.co.uk/view_de ... ike%20Boot For £70 So will get those ones on ebay to see ... Thanks
  5. But I wont know that 'til I try them for long journey will I? I guess for £35 I could buy, and if not flog on ebay again ... ??
  6. Sorry for all posts ... For summer riding, want something cheap that offers support for ankles etc These any good? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0078603380 If not, what do you suggest? Thx
  7. Makes me feel better Thx guys
  8. Tried on an XXL RST jacket in the shop (I have 48" chest) - fitted OK. Want to get soemthing quite cheap though. My helmet is red/white ... nice if it matches but not essential Want a jacket, mainly for summer/dry riding Is this one OK? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0272677553 If not, what should I look for? Thanks
  9. Wanted a cheaper one, tried on several makes/models, but they all felt wrong in that my head was loose in one part and tight in another, or my nose it the visor, just couldn't get one. Then tried on a HJC CS-R1 - fitted perfect My review sheet had this model "coming soon", but I figured that it fitted well, so that was main thing. Looked nice too So parted with £100 and got it home. Looking online people say that visor flimsy, it fogs sometimes, and air venting not great Too late now of course, but was wondering how comparable it is to other helmets in that price range? Bear in mind it was only one that felt comfortable and tight all round
  10. Incidentally, I felt safer on the back of bike at 130MPH than I did in an M3 at 150MPH (same road, but in M3 it was raining) Guy who rides bike has redlined his GSX-R 750 (chipped), a fireblade, A GSX-R 1000 and gone over 200 on a hayabusa (spelling) - crazy crazy rider ...
  11. Been on back of mates GSX-R 750 at 130MPH - still pulling away nicely, but fcuk me was I holding him tight Fastest I've driven was 75MPH last week during CBT
  12. OKay cool - but it's still a good guide, better than going in blind 5* £60 helmets (Lazer LZ6) 2* £400 helmets (Schuberth S1 Pro) It seems to me that noone seems to know and opinions vary, one of those things that is constantly under debate If I could find one that fitted perfect, and was a good make or rated 4/5 * on safety chart, and had 22.05 etc ... I'd probably just go for that. Like the LZ6 above Will have to have a look I suppose Thanks
  13. Thanks Big Sis I'll have a look at that and take it with me when I buy
  14. Thanks mate - read that already, but it doesn't mention how cheap is cheap And just said hi on newbie forum Thanks
  15. Just done my CBT Instructor talking about clothing and helmets, he said that providing it is EU compliant etc it will be safe, and may as well get a cheap one I'm thinking £40-£50 Full faced - nothing fancy Some people claim that a £500 helmet is better (safer), others that £100 ones are just as safe, others that sub £50 ones are still just as safe. Don't mind spending more if needed, but budget is tight, so don't want to waste money. So long as it's safe, ventilated so it doesn't fog, and fits, I'm not too bothered Do you guys agree that sub £50 helmets can be just as safe, so long as they're EU compliant. (end use will be something like a CBR600 after Direct Access) Probably many more questions to follow Thanks
