  1. I think it can vary a lot, what you pay for tyres. Last time I paid £30 to loose wheels. This included getting rid of the old tyres, and fitting new valves. Was talking to people about this a little while ago, and anywhere from £10 to £20 per wheel seems average.
  2. That new pinion looks correct. Have you a picture of the crankshaft? Has someone spaced the variator out too far?
  3. This guy came up with a solution to not being able to buy a silencer anymore. I'm sure it wouldn't be to hard to convert something similar. https://bikesandtravels.com/biker.aspx?ride=251
  4. Cost is obviously a reason. But the naked bikes are far easier to control round a mod 1. Upright riding position, and better leverage at the bars. Plus a much better turning circle.
  5. There are a few used down pipes on eBay. But it looks like it's a discontinued part now. Which part of the exhaust has gone?
  6. The American licencing system is very different to our own. You can pass with hardly any bike training. My mates done it and can't believe you can ride anything with something similar to the old CBT.
  7. To me that just says you can ride both classes of motorcycle. A, and A2.
  8. This one gets good reviews, and is ride recommended https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/275658 I have this one, which lasted well. Was really great for the first four years, but five years on has gone really brittle now. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/R-G-Outdoor-Waterproof-Motorcycle-Cover-for-Supersport-Superbikes-in-Silver/323419516016?chn=ps&norover=1&mkrid=7101533165274578&mkcid=2&itemid=323419516016&targetid=4584826055637459&device=t&campaignid=412354546&mkgroupid=1299623041023876&rlsatarget=pla-4584826055637459&abcId=9300541&merchantid=87779&msclkid=9f582355e8001784072b41c779ce6a49&pageci=58f4f1f2-0bfe-42a9-bfd7-c76f206bb568&redirect=mobile
  9. Nowadays he would be looking at a prison sentence for sure. Things have really changed since then. Anything over 100 now you are going to be in big trouble. It's really not worth owning a big sports bike for me anymore. Might be different if I did track days.
  10. I did say this to him. His answer was it was four o'clock in the morning. They would of taken his licence away. But other people would of lost their jobs. Got a massive fine though!
  11. He is not allowed bikes anymore. His wife put her foot down after getting stopped going 157mph. Previously to that he went to court for in excess of 130, in a 30. He had the Suzuki, then a Kawasaki 7R, then an R1. Always said the Kawasaki was the fastest point to point. Never got close to the Times he could get places on the other's. Had so much confidence in the handling. I think it helped having ridden bikes off road before. It certainly never hurt his speed.
  12. Oh dear, another dealer gone.
  13. My brother passed his test and brought a brand new SRAD 750 when they were one of the top bikes. Never ridden on the road before apart from his test. He was in his early twenties. We had motocross bikes before that. He was fine.
  14. The one thing I always find strange. Is the kids and delivery drivers don't even wear gloves in the winter. It's freezing, why wouldn't you wear gloves?
  15. Nice seeing Crutchlow's bike. Lego do a Ducati too. Big money but very impressive once hours are spent building it.
  16. Sounds angry. It's funny I was watching a video about the RC250 the other day. It really is nothing like a production model when you look closely.
  17. I had one pull in next to me a few weeks ago, while unlocking my bike. Made me jump, it's so quiet. Will look forward to reading your impressions of it.
  18. A couple of years ago, I stopped to see if an old guy fiddling with a Guzzi Le mans was okay. He said just tinkering and waved. A couple of miles later he past me doing some very illegal speeds down this twisty road. Was great to see as well. Man and machine in harmony. Absolutely thrashing it.
  19. If she is handy with the spanners too, sounds like a dream woman.

    Tyre advice

It does look squared off. Sitting on the motorway will do that. If it gets too bad it will start to feel like it's fighting you in the corners. It won't want to roll smoothly onto its side. I don't like letting my tyres go down much below 2mm in the centre. Though still legal, they definitely don't handle heavy rain as well below that.
  21. Yes Mutt don't make batteries. It was probably a defective battery, but why the dealer would say it's you, and not something else. Doesn't give a lot of faith in this dealer going forward.
  22. I used to wear leathers while riding my wife's scooter sometimes. Especially if it was a ten mile ride from a service. On my commuter scooter I wear textile gear. Only for the waterproof membrane though. Wear what you like. Nobody ever came off a bike and said, I had too much protection on.
  23. That's nice looking. It's a shame we never got them here.
  24. I brought my last tyres from them too. Was a fantastic price to be honest. Even with paying to have them fitted to loose wheels. It was still cheaper than I could buy them elsewhere, just for the tyres.
