  1. It can be used as power bank too
  2. I would just leave it, in fact a pic of it would be good https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07JQGMGNP/ref=cm_sw_r_em_apa_i_n6iMEb06VBB1J My 3.0 XJ6 was completely flat and it started it. Highly recommend.
  3. *** ADMIN - Sorry, how do I delete. Intended for the Jaguar forum I'm on. ( 4 wheel XJ, not 2!) *** Although the Artek does work on bikes too.
  4. Had to venture out for the first time in 3 weeks in the XJ today to collect shopping. Not been driven much at all this year and the car refused to start and was almost completely flat. Luckily I have an Artek battery starter which sits in the glove box. First time I've had to use it. Connected it up and turned the key and the car burst into life. Excellent bit of kit. I've connected up my trickle charger now. Hopefully after a few hours it'll be fully charged. 24 hours I would think but I'm sure others will have a better idea. The battery is a Yuasa which is only 18 months into it's 5 year warranty so should be fine once charged.
  5. Hi, I cannot comment on the three you mention but i have bought two used motorbikes from Wigan Yamaha. One was a YBR 125 and one was a Honda Hornet. They are very pleasant to deal with, not pushy and the service i had from them was good. I had an issue post sale with the YBR and it was fixed quickly without fuss. The quality of the servicing is good but as they are a main dealer it is a littler on the high side. Hope that helps.
  6. I had a YBR125 for a year then passed my test on an MT-07. I really liked it and came close to buying one but I test rode a kawasaki z650 and 2011 CB600F Hornet and the Honda just felt like. The perfect bike for me. I do circa 9000 miles a year in all weathers and my hornet never let's me down (touchwood) Just try a a few different bikes until you find "the one"
  7. I have a 2011 CB600FB Hornet 600. Plugs are due a change. Are iridium ones worth the extra money? Cheers
  8. I made the most of the sales yesterday and ordered: https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/72875 With the Extra 10% discount got a pair of TCX Goretex boots for £103.49 Looking forward to trying them out when they arrive.
  9. I am looking for recommendation for Goretex Boots please. I commute - 250 mils ish a week in all weathers so looking for something durable, waterproof and not too expensive. My budget is upto £180. I have seen some TCX and IXS within budget. I like the look of these. Can anyone offer advice? : https://www.jsaccessories.co.uk/buy/ixs-ultra-evo-ii-goretex-boots-black/25511.htm
  10. My first two helmets had ratchets and then I got my first shoei. I was worried about the DD fastening too but I got the hang of it very quickly and now wouldn't want to go back to rachet.
  11. I think I knew the answer really but was in denial. Frustrating as only been on bike 9 months. Poor quality fittings. They were cheap as I gather they are older style fittings and the newer ones are better with a screw and seal washer.
  12. Morning, I have Oxford heated grips on my Hornet. The power cable runs under the fuel tank and connects up to the connection plugs from the control unit. 1. Left Hand Grip, 2. Right Hand Grip and 3. The power. The connectors are white plastic with a small clip to hold together. The power connector is obviously a little loose or perhaps corroded. I CBA going to the trouble of removing the connectors and either soldering or fitting better connectors if I can help it. So, is there such a thing as some kind of gel that can be put into the connections to make a better circuit or something like that? I hope. That makes sense. Thanks in advance.
  13. Rear shock on my 2011 hornet gave up last week. On Friday I ordered a replacement shock from Hagon. They asked my weight and if I take a pillion or luggage. The new shock arrived yesterday. I was impressed with the quality. It was fitted today and is a massive improvement over stock. I cannot recommend Hagon's service enough. Great to deal with and very quick to build and send out. https://www.hagon-shocks.co.uk/catalog/config.aspx?TypeID=M
  14. Try the Honda Hornet Group - "The Hornet's Best" - on Facebook https://m.facebook.com/groups/35293037896/?ref=group_browse I have a 2011 hornet and the group is very helpful
  15. I used to have a YBR 125 - not the custom - and had the same issue with poor lighting at night. I fitted Harley Davidson style Day Maker LED lamp like the one here:- https://www.amazon.co.uk/Headlight-Davidson-Motorcycle-Projector-Daymaker/dp/B017B8NHEE It was superb: Brilliant light output, nice crisp beam pattern and drew less current halogen. You also wont need to replace the bulb again. Was easy to fit. The only difficult part was getting it to fit in the housing. This required a bit of fiddling to move wires out of the way but it was all worth it. [/img]
  16. +1 on this. I have the same. Very comfortable. I spray mine with silicone waterproof spray every few weeks. Hasn't leaked yet
  17. Did oil and filter change yesterday. I am, however, slightly embarrassed - and very proud - that my 7 year old daughter pointed out that I needed to put the plug back in before pouring the new oil in (as i was about to do) as it would all fall out at the bottom!
  18. I use paraffin poured into a spray bottle. Lightly spray on chain and sprocket. Leave for a couple of minutes, agitate with a brush and wipe off with a rag. Easiest and best way to clean chain in my view. I then use Wd40 chain lube to finish off.
  19. On ride home tonight from Manchester through rush hour traffic I was behind a cyclist for a while who went through every rednlight without stopping and had what sounded like a rape alarm on his handlebars which he pressed whilst filtering. He also interspersed filtering with riding on the pavement. He was riding about 5 feet from the kerb in the middle of the inside lane and weaving. I eventually over took and as I did he purposely swerved closer to me and sounded his rape alarm. A few minutes later he pulled along side me at traffic lights swearing and pointing to his helmet cam shouting that he was putting me on YouTube and that I'd get 3 points for reckless riding. After we exchanged pleasantries he then went through the red and turned off.
  20. I advise you not to be tempted by cheap Chinese cr@p LEDs - I've tried a few and they have been awful.
  21. Hi, Earlier this year i fitted an H4 Led bulb - https://www.classiccarleds.co.uk/products/latest-led-headlight-h4-motorcycle?_pos=1&_sid=7326a2ef5&_ss=r I have had cheep once before which were rubbish. This was £39 but it is worth it. The light output is superb with a clean cut off beam. I had my MOT with this bulb in August and it passed without any problem as the beam pattern is perfect. Big improvement over standard bulb and uses a fraction of the power also,
  22. I loved my YBR 125. I rode it for 9 months and did 6000 miles on it commuting in all weathers and it never let me down. I lost very little when i upgraded to my 600.
  23. I am a right fat bast*rd and haven't got abs and I have bought two bikes.... On a serious note, my 2011 600 Hornet has not got ABS. When i bought it i had narrowed down between too within my budget. One had ABS but was not in as good a condition, had less service history and more miles. The lack of ABS was a long way down on my list so I got what i felt was the better of the two all be it with standard brakes. I ride in all weathers and have not so far felt not having ABS is an issue.
