I have just pruchased some Oxford OL500 soft panniers for my gixer
http://www.google.co.uk/products?hl=en& ... CBwQrQQwAw
The OL500's expand outwards while the OL700's expand downwards. Just be careful about how high your exhaust pipe is. probably best tp go to a shop and take a look.
They have fitting instructions which tells you which straps go where. The large central on on mine goes under the seat cowl, this is the thing that you have in place of the pillion seat then the other two straps go over the top. They also have straps that fit to the pillion pegs. They also come with rain covers.
You dont need a rack or anything with them but I would recommend that non slip bike protector with them which you cut to shape and you will need to cut some slits in it to allow the central strap to pass through it to go under the seat cowl.
Roy (yorbandit) reckons to load them up with your gear, then un pack them, fit them to the bike then reload them.
I fitted mine to my bike to get them home from the shop as i didnt buy online and found they were a bit awkward to fit.
But this could have been be because I aint used to fitting them
A disadvantage to buying online is that you run the risk that they may be too close to your exhaust pipe

Ive signed up for this
A little late I know
But once I commit to something I generally see it through, so you can pretty much guarantee I WILL be there and on my new Bike
Its 208 miles for me and bike is not luggage friendly although I have invested in some Oxford soft sports panniers
See how it goes.............but theres a chance I might actually turn up having left the luggage on the motorway somewhere lol
Bikes so loud I wouldn't know if I'd lost it
So................
If any one got room for one in a tent and is willing to put up with sharing with me please let me know
It'll save the hassle of V checking the condition of her tents and me buying one
Also anyone going from Portsmouth area? Riff, Clashfan?
If not are ya up for a rendezvous Roy?

My 1999 GSX750W is carbed and has carb heaters installed
Never had a problem starting it up
The engine just needs to be nicely warmed before you start off as it can a bit jerky otherwise.
Oh and its gonna be up for sale real soon if anyone is interested
The GSXR is fuel injected and doesnt need warming up but I still let it idle for a while before setting off

I got news of a small inheritance coming my way the other night, and surprise surprise, the first thing that popped into my head was........... NEW BIKE!
Now its not a mahoosive amount but its enough to do a few things that the missus and I have had planned for a while
I know, I know............but Im not gonna blow the whole lot on a bike cos I DO want to stay married
Anyways
Im looking at spending about £7k including the thou I want for my existing bike and I got three bikes in mind at the mo
GSXR1000K7
GSXR750K8
The new GSX1250FA
All suzuki's obviously
Im not gonna buy any other make cos a) it'll mean changing my user name and I kinda like the one I got, and b) I LIKE ZUKERS!!.....steady Gary
I plan to test ride all three and make my final decision when Im ready to part with some readies, and I is growed up enough to make my own decision (honest)
But I wondered what the consensus on the forum might be

Depends on the luggage mate, some have heat resistant panels, so the luggage doesn't burn.
However, the contents still do!! Trust me I found out the hard way!!
Handy if ya want a cooked brekky when ya gets ta where ya goin

Moan cos us townies invade their villages and they have the audacity to invade our pubs and clog the carpark up with lots of tractor halves

Choose model year of bike and see whats on there.. not looked myself ..
LOL
First place I looked
No complete carbs but a few carb bits, seals etc
I was wondering if push came to shove, would a carb from a newer kawasaki do the job with a bit of rejetting and modding?

Never seen or heard of it and I live a couple of minutes away from there
Will have to go take a look see me thinks
There were lots of them thar yankie bike things in the Good Companion on the Eastern Road this evening.
