  1. It's simple physics, pour a nice warm liquid on ice and it will melt

Oh, so there is no need for gritters? They just need to pour warm water on the roads?

Pouring warm water gets rid of ice by melting it, though that water is then liable to stay and refreeze.

Adding salt/grit lowers the freezing point of water, a preventative.

One's a solution to get rid, one's a preventative, completely different things...

I think they were taking the piss  so to speak

Oh................urine will contain salt which will prevent refreezing :P

  2. I'd like to extend my warmest appreciation to the blonde girl at the PureTriumph stand who spent the entire day in her underpants. Much appreciated.

    :worthless:

I was going to take a pic but then I got this god awful feeling I was being watched by the missus

    Sooooooooo

I tried to pursuade Mat to get a pic with her but he just looked at me with disapproval :?

I think it was disapproval anyway

What is he?...................Gay or something?

  3. I use Brasso and that grease stuff :thumb:

Be careful if you decide use wonder wheels

Its a mild acid and if you leave it on too long it will stain the chrome

And had 'chrome cleaning' been asked I wouldn't have recommended it.

The question was about stainless.

    Oh sorry

That is of course what I meant as it did this to my stainless can and was a bugger to get rid of the staining

If it ends up staining the steel then its an endless polishing task 8-)

  4. First bike show for oooooo...........lets see............25 years

    Enjoyed it loads

    Plenty to see :thumb:

Been to NEC today, bought a pair of custom earplugs, very snug

Also got some oil for my Scottoiler :)

Good day! Lots to see and sit on, all the manufacturers were there, lots of things happening. Recommend!

You know you've had a good day Jo when you found summat decent to sit on

  5. the face is more easily accessible without removing the whole helmet.

I was struggling with this thinking why would you want your face to be more accessible  :?:

I could only think of two reasons.............none of which were particularly appealing

Then I reread it and picked up on the "in an emergency" bit

Surely if your going to buy a flip front lid, then it should tell you somewhere in the gumph you get with it, whether it is adviseable to ride with the flip part up or not ?

  6. Righty then

  10. if you fond something in the tyre dont pull it out untill you have got to tyre shop unless you have another method of transport.if it is going down slowly then whatever is in it is acting as a plug

    :stupid:

Pump it up and see what happens

It may be rideable to a repair shop if you have a stone in it, but it may go down too quickly.......depends how far away the tyre place is and pumping it up back up might force the stone out to a point where it will no longer be acting as a plug...............

You can repair tyres but if the symetry is gone it won't be worth it

Sorry I should have put a little more detail in my response

  11. On the other hand, I have not checked that it is a puncture, as i havnt checked the pressures for about 6 months.. but the front still seems fine, and if there is such a big difference between tires then there is prob something wrong. right?

Or should i just go pump it up and see what happens? (obv i will check for stones etc in the morning)

I think I'd be inclined to pump the tyre up and see what happens

Also when you do pump it up, check the symetry of the cross section

I had a rear tyre lose pressure due to lack of checks and ended up having to buy a new one as it wore excessively on one side making it a wierd shape

Check your tyres regularly in future :thumb:

I do mine once a week now whether I'm riding or not

  12. I'll be looking soon, so this thread will come in handy

Currently running BT016 on the rear, not sure about front as I haven't checked..................................................................................... all I know is its black, inflateable and made of rubber

Clocked up about 4.5k on mine since I had the bike so an indication of expected mileage on suggestions would be useful

Sorry for Hijacking thread  but no point in reinventing the wheel 8-)

  13. How heavy are you? That makes a massive difference, as can height and what you are wearing. When Im naked my gsr will do 154mph but only 148mph with clothes on.

Stick some tape on your nipples. Should be able to touch 160 easy.

    Genius!!!

Waxing any hairy bits will get you few more mph

  14. Wheres the one for FAST?

I guess thatll come under "other (please explain)" then...............no need

    On a serious note

I won't go out intentionally in the rain as I have a car so why get wet when you don't need to?

If I get caught in it, fair enough as I wear textiles anyway

It did tip it down the day I picked my gixer up for the 130mile ride back from Cheltenham 8-)

I used to ride in all weathers when I was younger and spent many moments after a ride in the snow to work, fingers burning with pain while they thawed out
