  1. Check what cover comes with. Will it cover your modifications, your helmet and other kit, allow passengers, riding other bikes, does it have legal cover etc. You'll need to click on each to find out but I'd avoid anyone with bad customer service reviews. Claiming on motor insurance is a nightmare as your cover is usually split between different sub companies. I can't say who is bad but price isn't everything

  2. Bike parking in London is a minefield. Some places you can park anywhere for free, some are free but only in designated bays, some you can only park in a baby and you have to pay. Often signs are confusing or just not there. 

     

    I've been using an app called London bike bays and it's been quite helpful.

  3. I'd vote for second hand. You're not trapped in a pcp deal if you no longer like the bike. You can mod it without worrying about the terms of your PCP deal. Sell it or trade it easier and you'll likely lose less money that paying interest on a depreciating asset

  4. Both bikes are high on the list of people that are new to bikes and want to go as fast and crazy as they wish. They therefore have a high crash rate compared to other bikes and so higher premiums. I've heard guys say that buying a full size bike and restricting it was cheaper than just getting a bike that's lower power fro factory. 

     

    Sports bikes will also be more expensive too. Maybe try a few quotes with other bikes like mt03 or restricted mt07

  5. Had camera and surgical equipment shoved up there for kidney issues a few years ago. Fortunately I was under general anesthetic for it. But wow the pain when peeing for the week after was like battery acid. I had to sit and hold the walls in the first few days. 

    Miserable thing to have done but great that you are all clear. By chance I'm sat in an oncology ward at the moment, family member getting some treatment.

    Did you slice the whole top off or cut a thick lump of skin off.

    Irony is Mrs. Fiddlesticks didn't need the car today. I just didn't think to check the weather at the other end.

    Glad you and the bike are alright. Maybe leave the bike at home on snow days 🙂

    That's what they say alright. If they find out about the incident and even if you don't claim you're premium will go up. Madness!

    But it's absolutely true that insurers hike premiums if you've had a no fault accident,  even if the other party admit liability and pay for repairs.  

     

    It's why I try to sort things out without involving the insurers if at all possible.  

    Structural damage wasnt too bad but needed all new plastics, lights, headlight housing and damaged engine casing, pegs and new exhaust. Would have nearly bought a new bike by the time all the bits were done so was forced into insurance. If it was something that would buff out I'd keep insurance out of it

    I was stopped at lights and someone when into the back of me. Cant get much more non fault than that. I expected a rise but not literally double.

    No issues, as long as it's safe.

     

    Crossing a solid line is a different story.

     

    On my commute when traffic is stopped, I've been filtering down this type of road marking. I was always only 90% sure it was legal as the lines are not solid. I've filtered past a few police cars and they never did anything so just assumed it is ok. Happy now someone has confirmed it's alright

    Yeah , no such thing as loyalty in this game. Move along where it benefits you. My own insurance is due soon. Looking forward to seeing how that goes after having a little (non fault) spill during the year.

    Yeah euro 3 is the current standard although I would try get a euro 4 as they have made changes to car rules recently so I'd try preempt them changing it for bikes

    Good point. The cat N will be much cheaper than a clean one but will sell for a lot less too and will be harder to sell on. 

    Better off buying a slightly older bike that's clean and easy to move on from unless as you say it's something you really wanted and plan to keep for a very long time

    However yesterday when I had to get to site, I turned it on and within 2 minutes, a thick 1-2mm of ice was defrosted. That said, I do think a tactical bottle of tepid water would do the job fine. Had it for 3 years so thinking of changing in the year year. 

    Always annoys me that they heat the windshield, but didn't run a trace heat line down the screen wash pipe. You defrost your windscreen, drive for a few minutes and go to wash the now salt covered screen and nothing. I'm running a really strong mix of screenwash, but it never seems to stop the nozzles icing up. 

    I've just driven 250 miles this evening.

    Got off the motorway to country roads.

    Salt has covered the lights, couldn't see a thing unless I had full beams on. Had to pull in and clean the lights to be able to see

    Got to drive in about an hour, and the ice on my windshield is a few mm thick. Thank god for Fords heated windshields. It spends all year disrupting your field of vision, but comes good 5-10 times a year :lol:

     

    Is this why ford windscreens seem wierdly pixelated or something. I borrowed a fiesta last week for a weekend and it felt like the screen was smudged the entire time.
