  1. I think mine need to be more interesting for sure - funnily enough, my next one is likely to be riding through central London. To be honest I've found it harder than I thought to concentrate on what you're doing bike-wise whilst also trying to get some kind of stream of consciousness that makes sense and entertains a bit. Hopefully I'll get better with practice, though.
  2. Nice review, thank you. The 07 was my first thought too, but I eventually got sucked I to the modern classic thing and then went on to another Triumph. I'm sure had I gone you're route I'd have been entirely happy, though. Sounds like it's comfortable for filtering, too, which is a must for me.
  3. Blimey, you've got to be thick-skinned in this game
  4. Just trying to learn the craft, Mike.
  5. That kriega (or 3 kriega bags attached to each other) is smaller in volume to the bag I have bought and larger in width. It's also £180 more expensive. My bag is 49 litre and cost me £58 and fits perfectly lengthwise from the front edge of the pliion seat to the end of the luggage rack. All I had to add was a cargo net for £6 and I'll probably give it a bit extra security with a bungee. Other difference is my bag can double up as a holdall. and I can fit a pair of size 12 shoes across its width. Which is important to me as I don't want to spend an entire week away wearing bike boots... especially at night chilled out in the bar. https://tinyurl.com/yyhlnvnt price has since risen now the sales are over. Kriega bags are "reassuringly expensive"... very well made and the 20L bag will also become a holdall or a backpack. But I mainly bought them for the ability to get them quickly on and off the bike if commuting. I can see how your solution works well for a bit of touring. I'm currently trying to decide between the Motech Blaze saddle bags and the Kriega US 20L + US 10L. As you say, the Kriega are easy to get on and off the bike, and the 20+10L would also provide three different options in terms of volume (10, 20 and 30L). Expensive, but tempting nonetheless.
  6. Blimey - just seen this thread. How to make yourself feel inadequate in one easy lesson
  7. Well, I've just uploaded a new video - no narrative on this one, just a nice soundtrack and the odd comment by way of text pop-ups. I also discovered how to "fast-forward", and in doing so finally cracked the 10 minute barrier I'd really appreciate it if you could have a look, like/subscribe (naturellement) and let me have any feedback (good or bad).
  8. If the bike was stolen from home you should be fine. If you were riding it I can't see them paying out, nor would I expect them to.
  9. Don't know about "reduced", as that looks bloody lovely!
  10. Oh no - how absolutely horrible.
  11. I’d like to try one of these, and it sounds like it’s just the job for you. How are you finding the mix of large engine and small wheels?
  12. Looks beautiful - the second shot reminds me of Alien
  13. Still available, should anyone fancy sprucing up their Street Twin
  14. Sounds like a great day out and a very successful meet up (I love it when that happens, actually), and well done for braving this blustery, cold weather. I bet it made the chips taste even better, though! With regard to the grammar thing, there's a great test for deciding whether to go with "I" or "me". Take your phrase: Myself and Mr Slowly arrived first... Remove “and Mr Slowly”... you're left with: Myself arrived first... hmmm. If it sounds wrong then it is (the test always works when you have to decide on “me and x” or “x and I”). In this instance, "Mr Slowly and I" would have been grammatically correct Grammar Nazi (I'm not really!) Herts
  15. I'm sure you will soon enough. I reckon you'll get the new daytona when it comes out. Stop it, Geoff!!!
  16. Damn - that's unfortunate. Hope you're okay and that the bike isn't badly damaged. Probably a good time to brush up on your technique, but particularly watch out for that old chestnut, target fixation. Always likely to rear it's head if you think you've got your approach/speed wrong as you go into a corner.
  17. Righto! Don't know if these are your kind of thing, but I saw two photography exhibitions in London recently. Don McCullin at Tate Britain is excellent (with the exception of the still life stuff at the end - not really my cup of tea) and well worth a visit. Every image was hand-printed by the man himself, and they even have his old Nikon F that stopped the snipers bullet in Vietnam on display. Diane Arbus at the Hayward Gallery is... different. To be honest I went there knowing that I'm not a fan of her photography and hoping to be convinced. I know plenty of photographers who revere her work, and just assumed it must be something I wasn't getting. I still don't get it, but I'm glad I saw it. I checked out Joshkjack but the way, and there is some really interesting stuff there. It put me in mind of Saul Leiter in parts. I've always loved Diane Arbus - something quite... I don't know, gritty about her portraits. McCullin requires no comment, of course. I'll have to get along to the Hayward. Glad you liked joshkjack - I was reading something that Sean Tucker (another tog) wrote about him, and apparently he'll often wander the London streets from dusk until dawn to make sure he gets the shots he wants. That reminds me... one of the best movie scenes ever was in From Dusk Till Dawn! "> The dance was completely improvised - there was no choreography whatsoever!
  18. This thread has actually got me reaching for the Dawkins on my bookshelves... time to dip into them again, I think As an aside, my original point was probably lost in translation, but I was watching a 60 Minutes interview with Ricky Gervais last night, and he actually said precisely what I had meant to, i.e. that he reserves the right to say "what the f*ck" he wants, but that it's always a calculated decision as to when and where he does so. He used the example of not running into a church to tell the congregation that they're a bunch of twats; conversely, in his home, if you don't like what he say's then you're welcome to leave. Mark, I think that there's a time and a place to express opinions, that's all. Our thinking is probably more aligned than it might have appeared, though. Right, back to photography, then...
  19. I think the next one I upload will just be a ride on some nice local roads (hopefully with a bit of speed if it's dry), and my plan is to add a music soundtrack. At least without me wittering away I'll be able to address the timing issue
  20. Thank you, and will pop over and reciprocate!
  21. That's weird - I repositioned it for this one, and was literally just thinking the same thing, so I'll revert to the slightly higher angle. And noted re the timing
  22. B*llocks - I'm about 20 years out. Better sell mine.
