1. Congratulations - such an amazing feeling, isn’t it?
2. I haven’t given up hope for this thread yet
3. As has been said it just lowers your control slightly How? If you’re coasting then you’re not engaging the engine and, by definition, you’re not in control. OTOH, if you’re simply riding on the overrun then control is still available to you in terms of engine breaking and acceleration. Coasting - especially downhill - is not a good thing to be doing.
4. I’m on my third - trust me, there’s still room for mishap
5. You’re also effectively out of control. That, going downhill, is again bad practice.
6. Prompted by something Kelbam said in another thread, let’s see your inky artwork here. Mine...
7. No idea what the problem is, but I’d quit coasting downhill if I were you.
8. Come on Bob, we need an update!!!!
9. Hallefeckinglujah
10. Another cinematic masterpiece now available
11. Somewhat coincidentally, this happened to me today. Gave me a right fright - I think it was a buzzard. http://youtu.be/1Y5PycwwDfo
12. Still looks kosher to me - just let it play out, Bob.
13. I've just downloaded Calimoto onto my iPhone, which would appear to be the perfect solution. £40 for a year's premium subscription, so relatively low risk and i'll see how i get on with it. It's certainly synced perfectly with the desktop version and I'll be out for my first ride with it later today.
14. No, it isn't - that's often why avoidable accidents still happen.
15. Even when it’s something we know, validation can be a good thing, especially when it results in a little muscle memory boost. Anyway, today I was filtering on the outside of a long line of traffic that had come to a stop at a red light. As I approached the light, I noticed two things; firstly, there was a road to my right which could potentially allow drivers to escape the congestion. Secondly, there was a learner driver sitting in the queue of traffic immediately adjacent to that right hand turn. I think I kind of knew something knobbish was going to happen, so I reduced my speed and hovered over my front break. Sure enough, without any warning whatsoever and only indicating at the point the manoeuvre was made, the car took the right hand turn, causing me to carry out a full-on emergency stop. If I hadn't seen it coming there's no way whatsoever that I could have avoided a collision. Just another near miss, thankfully. Be careful out there
16. Take heed of this - i speak from experience!
17. That’s what I tell my son.
18. My maps doesn't navigate for me even when imported to Google maps (which is dead easy actually, even on my phone). Normal Google maps does with multiple stops though. Just tried to use to Google maps route progress location sharing feature to see if you can navigate to the guy whose location you're following but alas not. Can you save the route in regular maps, as I haven’t found a way to do it?
19. I'm in beautiful(?) Buckinghamshire! Not too far from me - if I organise anything that doesn't involve tearing around motorways I'll let you know.
20. We had this exact problem on the ride out that I organised recently - the Google maps route morphed for everyone over the course of the ride. The only way around it that I think I've discovered is to use the My Maps feature in Google, plot multiple interim points en route to ensure that the app doesn't make adjustments as you're riding, and then save the completed route before uploading it on your phone. I reckon that should work, but I haven't tried it myself yet.
21. Nice one, Tom - enjoy it, mate. Where about are you?
22. Sounds like horseshit from a complete waster. Sorry, mate, that’s a bummer.
23. Just caught up with this thread... hope all is sorted today, Bob, but try not to worry one way or another.
24. How about the Monster 821, or Yamaha XSR900 (the XSR is essentially an MT in classic clothes)?
