Just to add that I really was joking then. There are lots of countries that rival the UK for quality of healthcare (Cuba being a very good example).

That's not too bad for the UK as I understand it.
It probably would have been about €30-€40 here.
Yes, but they'd probably have tied it to the rear end of a horse.

Tattoos? New helmet pic please
Numbers 3 and 4, Geoff - will get my other half to take some pictures later as I did promise to post them here. As for the helmet, I'm going for the Shoei JO Hawker TC‑5. I think I'll need the inserts changing so I have two sizes put aside at Motolegends and am popping down there for a fitting this morning.

Thanks mate. It was only four hours in the chair teserday a;lthough i'd be lying if i said it din't hurt (a lot) from start to finish.
Having multiple tattoos requires that you conveniently forget the pain from previous experiences, because it's not pleasant!

Morning all. Last day of my three-day extravaganza today... root extraction, tattoos and now new helmet. Hopefully just painful for the wallet this time around

6Hours !
How much are you having done?
Would you be so kind as to post pics please.
Good luck and I hope it goes well.
Cheers
Ian
Thanks Ian - I'm actually having two done, hence the 6 hours (one of my others took nine hours, mind). Anyway, I'll definitely post some photos although I may wait for them to heal a bit first.

I have no idea wot the trophy symbol means but everyone should get a medal after dental work!
Glad your ok. Now remember your not supposed to drink alcohol for 24hrs after local anaesthetic- but it is the other thing everyone should get after dental work!
Thanks Caroline. It's actually really hurting now, but hopefully I can have some soup later this evening as I'm starving (and definitely no alcohol).
Got six hours in a tattooist's chair tomorrow - I guess the timing could be better

Well @learningtofly is your face the size of a hot air balloon or did the dentists dainty hands take away the pain?
Well, I can’t say that it was a pleasant experience but it’s done, thank god. I do look a bit swollen though!

Have to agree, that colour scheme is an abomination.

Well thats hardly going to calm his nerves
Actually, my dentist is pitching for the implant gig, so I'm sure he'll be doing his level best to minimise any discomfort

I've had teeth pulled when the injection hasn't taken!
In fact one time the teeth were fused together as one and it ripped my gum clean open.
I had a huge f@cking hole in my top gum!
Thanks.

You want to try having toothache on a ship weeks from anywhere. Not recommended and highly unpleasant. Deepest sympathy though as it seems never-ending.
That sounds like something to be avoided too

Well, after a week of ineffective antibiotics, agony and about 2 hours sleep per night, I'm now booked in for an extraction on Wednesday afternoon. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy.

Blimey. This thread has evolved a bit since I posted those photos.
@Slowlycatchymonkey Sorry to hear about your sister - that's awful. Yes, Steve McQueen was no angel, that's for sure. Neither was Sean Connery, from what I recall; didn't he say in an interview (after being accused by his former wife of physical and psychological abuse) “It’s not the worst thing to slap a woman now and then...”, going on to qualify it by suggesting that it's best to do it with an open hand?

No tattoos here.......cos you don't put a bumper sticker on a Mercedes!
My style gurus have always been James Dean, Steve McQueen, and Paul Newman........so things like tattoos have no place being on my body.
Now to me, This is The Style! It sums up everything what motorcycling should be about!
A cool guy, a hot bird, and a great bike!
Explain to me how having something written on your body matches that?
Not entirely sure why you'd even suggest that there's a parallel, but i agree about the image.

Oh cos the email says all prices discounted to 30% ?!?!? Heyho so long as you’re happy.
That confused me too, but it's definitely not borne out be their website.

@learningtofly bit off topic but Motolegends just sent out an email 30% off helmets. Might be worth ringing them and asking if they’ll still do that for you Wednesday and if not order the helmet online at the discounted price and take it back to the store in your appt day to switch it if it doesn’t fit.
Yes, saw that, thank you. They've already price-matched the cheapest BF offer I could find and then undercut it by 10% so the deal I've got is a good one. They haven't actually discounted the one I've ordered in their own sale, either (just the black and red variant).

I'm not sure that I'm reading it like that - it sounds more like consequential loss to me (although IANAL).

I think the key to Mod 1 is staying calm. And just think... if someone offered you the opportunity to play safely with a large bike on a test pad you'd jump at the chance.
In comparison, Mod 2 is just a nice ride-out with another bike. Good luck, you're nearly there.
