  1. I am looking for recommendation for Goretex Boots please. I commute - 250 mils ish a week in all weathers so looking for something durable, waterproof and not too expensive. My budget is upto £180.

I have seen some TCX and IXS within budget. I like the look of these. Can anyone offer advice? :

    Waterproof definitely, tested

    And inexpensive

  2. Urinals are really uncomfortable!

You're not meant to sit on them.

You can laugh but a few years ago we had a spate of broken toilets on a ship. The crew had changed nationality and I'll not be specific but it turned out the daft sods were standing on the bowls and squatting. Civilization was not really their thing. They were replaced after a short time.

That is the normal on the cruise ships, 50-60 nationalities you can see everything.

  3. I have a couple of pairs of superb quality and lightly worn boots in size 42/8 that are now surplus to requirements. Both are in completely undamaged/unscuffed condition and in reality have seen very little road action as I've gravitated towards some old Diesel boots instead.

Please note that if someone wants the two pairs I'll discount the combined cost by 10%.

First up is a pair of TCX Vibe waterproof boots in black, which you can see at Superbikeshop here.

    • Suede leather construction with Air Tech fabric panels for breathability
    • Padded upper collar for increased comfort
    • Reflex insert on the heel
    • Waterproof internal lining
    • Malleolus inserts and PVC micro-injected ankle guard on both sides
    • Bycast leather shift pad
    • Speed lacing system and Velcro band with micro-injected insert
    • Anatomic and replaceable footbed
    • High performance rubber sole designed to offer superior grip and stability

These are really lovely boots both on and off the bike, and I'd like £80 delivered.

Next is a pair of Alpinestars Ridge V2 Drystar boots, again in black, and this time more bike-oriented than the TCX. Superbikeshop has them here.

    • Hard wearing microfibre construction
    • Front and rear flex zones for enhanced comfort
    • Hook and loop retention with the zip closure system
    • TPU injected shift pad for added durability
    • Waterproof and breathable Drystar membrane
    • Ergonomic shape for long-lasting comfort
    • Double layer reinforced shin plating
    • Dual-density complete ankle protection
    • Contoured midsole follows the shape of the foot
    • Anatomic EVA foam foot-bed for comfort
    • Vulcanised rubber sole for enhanced grip

Another great pair of boots (they fit easily inside straight leg jeans, by the way), for which I'd like £90.

This is a UK sale, and the cost includes the normal tracked and insured delivery. Remember it's 10% off for the two pairs as well.

Hey there I am back home, really interested in both pair of boots.

    Still available?

  4. I completely agree that as far as appearances are concerned there's no point in cleaning beneath the plastics if you not so inclined . But cleaning is a great way to notice anything that is amiss such as fluid leaks or loose bolts or to just gain a greater understanding of how your bike works .

As well perfect excuse for all households jobs :angel12:

Don't you mean a perfect excuse NOT to do household jobs ? 😉

Yes I meant exactly that, maybe not perfect but work always :stupid:

  6. Look at getting an expensive alarmed disc lock, I've got the stainless steel Oxford Alpha XA14. It's not too sensitive so never goes off without reason.

Will definitely be getting one. Got a quote from my honda dealer repair is £160 which is a lot better than i thought.. will be tripling up on locks for sure, i will look into the one you mentioned it sounds very sturdy.

What are the chances of them coming back to try again? Anything i can do to prepare for it this time?

Invest couple of hundreds in good crossbow, some motion sensor around the bike and wait :thumb

  7. With the temperature problem I find keeping my lid in the garage which isn't heated keeps that problem away also mine has a pinloc in and I get no misting at all apart from the areas around the pinloc edge but my glasses do sometimes mist up but I have a pink solution I got from m&p a few years ago that helps

You should keep your glasses in the garage as well :thumb:

Might mean me having to move in to the garage too

    That is the spirit

  8. I do apply anti corrosion products, even if I don’t ride during the winter and avoiding wet roads, I doo clean and lube the chain all the time but I do that just to get out of the house and enjoy some time with the bike.

Bonus, I don’t have to listen my wife, don’t need to wash dishes, vacuum the carpet and so on, just mans jobs. :angel12:

  10. I would not rub a raw potato on your visor . Surely this is a mischievous hoax ?

No potatoes work just cannot be potatoes chips.

Actually in old times we did scuba mask treatment with potatoes, better than spitting.

And pinlock works for me fine, yes it does need some time to acclimatise, few minutes, important is that when is placed on the visor, visor was clean without any product on it.

  11. If you prefer new bike with discount look for pre registered bikes, as well after Christmas and January could have more discounts. From April to end of August avoid if possible, that period prices are sky high.

Did you check for HP if you are ready to pay 20% deposit, no mileage restrictions, no hassle with the final purchase.
