Everything happens for a reason, maybe you weren't supposed to ride that day to prevent an accident that might of happened etc

I think its a good thing, Police should be cautious about our safety

Thanks guys, I understand your points but lets say you do happen to hit some oil traction control would help somewhat right?

Hi all, I have decided I will get a motorbike and put all the fears behind!! But choosing a bike over a car means I will have to ride it all year round, whether its raining, or cold, or slighty icy I will be on that road mashing down the miles. But because of this I will get an adventure bike thats BIG so I can be seen easier and that has ABS and traction control, and because I am a new rider I will get one that is friendly at low and mid end torque........so the answer is.......Suzuki Vstrom 650. Just a quick question though, how effective is traction control on a motorbike, I hear stories about people fall off due to gravel, oil, big wet patches on the road, would traction control and a big motor bike with chunkier tyres help you stay upright in such situations? Thanks.

Drive a car before riding a bike?
newbiker90 replied to newbiker90's topic in CBT, Test and Advanced Training Information
It is much less about the road rules and more about getting used to other peoples crappy driving etc haha -
Also just to be boring and rein you in a bit.... have you done a CBT yet? As you'll have to do that first, which limits you to a 125cc bike until you complete mod 1 and 2. Then you can have whatever you want! I realise that haha, I can go straight to A1 Licence because of my age after the CBT. I just think ahead thats all

Hey thanks all for your awesome inputs, I have decided I will definitely get a motorbike, however, firstly I will get a car licence and a car to get used to the roads etc etc. Then after the car is paid off I will get a motorbike, I figure having both is a bonus for those really bad winter days (black ice, salty roads, heavy winds etc) I really can not wait, now just need to decide on the bike Either; Honda cb500x Honda cb500xt Suzuki vstrom 250 Miiiiiiiight go for the 250 as its lower power just to ease my way into riding, if I feel brave however then it will be one of the Honda's. My main goal is a BMW 1000GS, buuuuuut that is after lots of miles under my belt. I live in england and the dream is to tour wales/ireland/scotland before moving into bigger tours around france, sweden, switz etc. I can not wait. I get excited at the thought, and call me childish but when I see a motorbike on the road my eyes light up

Hi all, I really do want to learn how to ride and start commuting by bike but at the same time I am kind of scared/worried about safety. Was anyone else like this when they first began riding? Also any commuters here, how you finding it? Esp winter months. Thanks.

Can I ride a Suzuki V-strom 250 on a CBT?
newbiker90 replied to newbiker90's topic in Motorbike Chat
That is what I thought, thanks. Just my friend who actually rides bikes is debating you can -
Hi all just wondering if I can ride a Suzuki V-strom 250 on a CBT? Cheers

1: Ignore them 2: Keep calm 3: Do not get distracted, focus, and carry on riding at YOUR pace not THEIRS.

Hi I heard many horror stories from both friends and family urging me not to get a motorbike. However I need a cheap way of commuting and bikes are much cheaper than cars - not only this but I love motorbikes! But I was hoping people could answer me a few questions: 1: From your own experience how unsafe are motorbikes? How many years or miles have you done and how many accidents have you had? 2: How bad is it riding at winter? How worried do I have to be when there is black ice, salt, and or rainy conditions? 3: How cold is it when you ride in cold winds, bearable? 4: How dangerous is it riding at night + rain. The above questions are my main worries if you guys could share your views it would be much appreciated, ty.
