-
Was a good day - nice to meet you Steve and good to catch up with Simon n Matt again. Fabulous weather and that run back down Kirkstone and along to Penrith nicely stretched my 'comfort zone'....just what I needed Oh...and I missed my train..too long in the bath...
-
What time roughly d'you reckon youll be at Kirkstone - was planning a ride out that way someime this weekend. Could catch up at a coffee stop before I head back. Got to be in Carlisle in me high heels by about 4 tho...........

Ok - so my man of the moment is a mechanic - great! Cept getting information on 'how do I?' is like blood from a stone! Happy to do stuff for me but reluctant to help me do it myself....why?....not a clue!! Fact is I would ike to be able to do basic stuff myself - such as - checking and maintaining my chain. Handbook with bike is not v helpful, have done a BIT of research but seem to get conflicting advice.....clean with paraffin/wd40/ bits of cardboard to protect sprockets WHAT??!! etc etc - and HOW? Somebody steer me thru this miniminefield ...please! Any help much appreciated -
-
Have looked at a couple of these vids and they're v helpful.... one thing I haven't found tho is - if bike falls to left ie you cant put into gear....and you are also on a slope - so bike will roll away when lifted- does this technique work whilst holding front brake? Yes...this happened to me recently I managed to get it up holding just the bars but nearly suffered a prolapse in process

Oi you lot!! Caught ya!!! Trying to sneak off without 'Mother' EH?? Might just be up for part of this .............if you'll have me Ps:..........in spite of my 'advanced years' I'm quite a bit quicker than I was last time:lol:

This is correct, the more we failed the mod 1, the more genius we became. Sounds about right to me kiddo
-
Does that make me n Josh a pair of 'natural geniussssesss' on 2 wheels???
-
Had mopeds in my late teens, basically as a cheap from of transport. Never thought about riding again tho enjoyed the odd back-seat spin on my brothers assorted bikes. Have had and ridden horses for years, but when my marriage broke up 3 years ago and then my daughter hit puberty and discovered boys, I found I needed something more, that my equine hobby just wasn't 'doing it' for me anymore. Then the beginning of this year saw the end of a relationship with a guy whose enthusiasm for 2 wheels was totally infectious. We'd had all sorts of plans for trips on his bike this summer. I guess the decsion to take my test was partly to prove to myself that nothing was beyond me & partly so I could do all those things without relying on a blokes back seat ever again!!!lol The unexpected bonus has been that, from the moment I sat on the school 500, I absolutely LOVE it, far more than I ever imagined, can't get enough, just me and my bike, having a ball and no looking back!

Glad you enjoyed the road Simon - was good to see you the other day - sorry I had to rush off - the 'expedition' was calling
-
Just got back yesterday aft from the Snakebyte Rally (hosted by Quay Vipers) near Colraine N Ireland. Left last Thurs - 11 whole days after passing my test. Headed off in a convoy of 14 seasoned bikers. Had an amazing time. Good music, lots of beer. Unfortunately only 4 showers and 8 loos for close on 2,000 people!!!! Amazing beaches over there, clean soft sand, huge breakers. Fantastic roads ...didn't see any traffic police in 5 days there My riding has improved immensely, as has my confidence in my bike. Paid the obligatory visits to Giants Causeway - amazing, and a wee half in Joey Dunlop's bar in Ballymoney. Clocked up over 500 miles in all - had a ball. Highly recommended Took over 130 photos ............but here's just a taste................. http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/tt89/wiggle1_photos/tn_2008_0926quayvipers090024.jpg http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/tt89/wiggle1_photos/tn_2008_0926quayvipers090032.jpg http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/tt89/wiggle1_photos/tn_2008_0926quayvipers090033.jpg http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/tt89/wiggle1_photos/tn_2008_0926quayvipers090063.jpg http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/tt89/wiggle1_photos/tn_2008_0926quayvipers090078.jpg http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/tt89/wiggle1_photos/tn_2008_0926quayvipers090079.jpg http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/tt89/wiggle1_photos/tn_2008_0926quayvipers090087.jpg

A question to all SV owners. What sort of MPG do you get out of your bike. Just started riding my SVs and could do with an idea of how frequently I'll need to stop for fuel - got a long trip planned. Cheers guys
