Its never cheap going to the TT but to go on a budget and keep costs low go as a foot passenger via the hydofoils from liverpool or the ferries from Heysham further up the coast. TT week is the most expensive but if you go the week before to watch practice and perhaps stay for a couple of days racing on the Saturday and monday then a ferry back can cut the cost. Or go mid race week and come back well after the races as the island winds down. There are campsites that rent tents to save taking all the stuff with you and up in the paddock area there is a hotel made out of container like structures that you can book by the day I think. I think the tourist board have a scheme matching visitors to home owners on the island that are willing to hoast guests, Have a look at that on the IOM website. Good luck with your trip it is well worth a visit an amazing specticle.

and the camp site at peel is good , the guy who used to run it his name is phil dont know if he still does as i havent been over for eight years

I think opening the back door was harmless and hopefully irritating to the car driver. I tend to.limit myself to beeping my horn and / or traditional gestures of annoyance.

yes they might turn out to be an incredible hulk and come rushing over 🤯

No chance. My wife used that in her pedal bike tyres because she wasn't confident she could mend a puncture if she was out by herself.

We were on a ride near Knutsford when she ran over a thorn and got a slowish puncture. The slime did nothing to mend the tiny hole made by the thorn but it did manage to totally clog up the valve. So having mended the puncture I then tried to inflate the tyre only for my pump to explode in my hand due to the valve being clogged.

I fitted a new tube but then had no pump so I had to leave her by the roadside whilst I pedalled off into Knutsford to buy new pump. Knutsford is bit posh so the bike shop only sold carbon fibre pumps with diamond encrusted handles - it cost me a fortune. Plus the guy in the shop was a bit snotty at a scruff like me cluttering up his emporium.

Armed with my new super-duper pump I cycled back to my poor wife feeling bad about abandoning her in the middle of nowhere. Only when I got back she was surrounded by young men on very fancy bikes who had seen her in distress and come to her aid. They had got the tyre inflated and she was all ready to go. So my expensive pump wasn't needed.

She was very happy about the whole thing and enjoying the attention. I'm never fitting tyre slime to anything ever again.

a few years ago i used to put oko tyre life in mine

I think it's just another silly fashion. Doesn't matter how stupid it is, as long as it's in fashion.  Look at the number of people walking about with chunks of metal embedded in their faces. And don't start me about the Illustrated Men and Women prowling about Glasgow in the middle of a Scotch winter dressed like they're in Majorca for the summer, just to show off acres of tattooed flesh !

yes you see them in the middle of winter in t shirts they must think the tattoos are keeping them warm 😑

Hi new to this forum but here goes. I'm Ferg been riding for just over a year now. I ride a RE Continental GT650 that I've customised a bit into a Cafe Racer style as I love the look of those old 60s bikes. I also run a group here in Bonnie Scotland on "Facebook" called "Scottish Retro & Cafe Riders" which as you guessed it it's for Modern retros and Cafe Racers but also other custom bikes. Check it out on FB if your curious we're a friendly bunch and do ride outs and meet ups regularly. Thanks for having me ride safe 🙂

This evening I thought I'd change the thermostat in my ZZR1200.

Manual says, remove right hand inner fairing panel, then remove the four screws that hold the thermostat. That's about an hour to change the thermostat then.......

So I remove the right hand inner fairing panel, which revealed the radiator cap sat upon the thermostat housing, really easy to get to, apart from the fourth screw, which is obstructed by the right hand air duct, which needs the whole top fairing removed. Oh, and I need to drain the coolant 200ml, but I'll drain the lot as I bought a 5litre jug of something expensive to replace it. To do this of course, I have to remove the left hand lower fairing.

My planned ride on Sunday isn't looking likely 🙄

the joys of bikes with fairings , i know all about it i now buy naked's

I'd guess two elements are at play.

    1) Homologation, construction and use rules maybe dictate no sharp edges, minimum viewing angle coverage etc, etc which maybe dictate bland and boring (ugly) designs?

    2) Gives the opportunity to make profit selling upgrades?

But I fully agree. The current licence plate position mandates have created a big business in tail tidies - I mean look at this....

Short legs and a slope away in both cases. By the time my feet hit the floor bike reached angle of no return and down we went. Slowly. No damage apart from to my ego which was dented severely especially on the 2nd occasion. Bike went down on other occasions too but had help in picking it up - icy slush on forecourt, gravel track, etc.

yes you usually have an audience when that happens 😉

Me once again. Though probably fairer to say " nob of the last 40 odd years "

My lazy lifestyle has come to bite me on the arse.  Raised Cholesterol level of 7.1     I'm not massively overweight either so a bit worrying.  Time to stop eating what I want and live on Rabbit food till my levels become more normal. No more freebie food from work either!

I had got a very nice bottle of Jura for Christmas too that I was looking forward to opening :crybaby:

so you can put that back in the cellar
