  1. Sounds like clutch springs... Thats what i would say but i have no clue about anything when it comes to clutches lol. I would suggest getting the engine casing off and checking out the clutch plates but am sure someone who knows what their talking about will tune in soon Best regards -Jvr
  2. I tried this today and it took some almighty bashing just to get them to mushroom out even a little. They arnt mushroomed out very much though, do they *have* to be bashed out untill they are significantly wider? I'm just thinking i'll take it to a place i know when i get back home but its a fair ride away and am worried it may let go if its not done enough They are around 5.35-5.40, think they would hold up to an hour ride from cambs to luton? Sorry to hijack here lol. Best regards -Jvr
  3. Hey Your in luck mate! You have the sprocket on backwards. Changed my rear sprocket today and you will find that the threaded studs have a rectangular edge on the other side which fits into the grove in the sprocket (other than that they arnt secured to the wheel itself and so will turn freely). Take the sprocket off, align these rectangular bits to fit in the grove and turn it round and press the sprocket on when doing up the bolts. Jobs'a good'un! Ironically the studs dont secure the sprocket directly to the wheel but the other end of them go into the wheel to take the strain. Let us know how it goes. Hope it helps! Best regards -Jvr
  4. Hey there all, So i know its not the battery, just tried another one and the starter is still no doing much... Yesterday i charged and tired the battery in there and i heard the starter turning but it didnt engage the engine... So now i'v rulled out the battery, think its time to get the starter off? Best regards -Jvr
  5. JbWeld, Jb Weld, Jb Weld! Was playing with it last night and when mixed is nice and thick, sticky and cures like metal mouhahahaa Couldnt reccomend it enough! Its sealed my cracked crank case a treat -Jvr Ps, i think there is also a *gum gum* product of sorts thats good for exhaust, something like that, should sort out yr problem.
  6. Well played there! So, you have a bike yet? if not do you know what are you looking for? Any plans to progress any time soon to a full liscence? Best regards -Jvr
  7. Good to hear you have the CBT booked! It will be over before you know it and you will no doubt be looking back fondly in the future I remember my CBT being one hell of a scary experience but looking back on it, it was mostly me having to ajust to being so exposed having driven a car for a couple of year prior! Enjoy it, with any luck it will be your first and last CBT -Jvr
  8. Got any insulation tape? -Jvr
  9. Yeah, At this stage i would say your best bet is to charge the bike up and give it a few more attempts. You would be far better off having to recharge the battery a few times and making sure there is nothing wrong before you start digging in because once your in there your in lol. I would suggest keep going at it with the starter, if not recently replaced maybe throw in a fresh spark plug or clean off the one in there? Give it another shot and get back to us, then i'm sure someone will tune in with a good trouble shooting approach for an unknown non starter Best regards -Jvr Ps, remember to check yr break's, fluids, tire pressures and give the chain a look over. Nothing better than preventitive maintinance!

    Blowing?

Just changed the head gaket, it seems to be just fine, engine side of the exhaust seems fine its just the can, am thinking it might reduce the back pressure to the engine, but its not a 2 stroke so i dont know if its as important Hmmm, will keep on slaving away though... Cheers for the input. -Jvr

    Blowing?

It blows out the back and forwards out the gap about the same really. When i put my hand over the back it comes out the side and hand around the side it comes out the back more... I'm just curious as to weather anyone thinks having exhaust blowing out randomly from the can would effect the running of the engine much, its one thing that i think has degraded over time and therefore may be the source of or a contributing factor to the bike not running properly... Best regards -Jvr

    Blowing?

Hey, Okay, i'm sure some of you are familiar with the problems i'm having with the old engine lol. Idling okay and can ride the bike up the road whilst the engine is still cold but once warmed up its a no go... Soooo, after doing pretty much everything imaginable with the carb (without changing jets as the bike ran fine before so i dont think the jets re-sized themselves lol) i'm looking at the exhaust The exhaust end can blows pretty freely out the side where the carbon bits meet the end caps... Could this cause problems with the engine that seem like mixture issues? Any thoughts would be much appreicated Best regards -Jvr
  13. Sounds like mixture if its cutting out whilst throttle is applied... Maybe he's narked the air mixture screw If it was the idle screw that would just ajust the speed of tickover and shouldnt effect the engine when any throttle is applied... -Jvr
  14. Hey, Sounds like the engine certainly needs a look at, think there's a service manual here for ya! http://www.thumperfaq.com/oemmanuals.htm I'm not to sure on 2 strokes but someone should tune in. Best regards -Jvr
  15. Its a CVK carb and very simular to the GY6 carbs only diagrams with them expanded are of a slightly different type I have concluded this isnt the origional carb for the kymco but was added at some point, i believe they are for 125cc or higher (maybe added for want of more performance). I think i might look into getting a stock carb for the bike... But yeah, CVK 125 (GY6 also brings up simular images) and there is an exploded diagram of the carb here: http://www.kymcopartsonline.com/catalog ... uretor.JPG Best regards -Jvr
  16. Hey, *Hows the work going there? Keen to hear an update * Haha! posted 2 minutes after me! Random! -Jvr
  17. Yeah, okay, I took it appart and it just went *ping*. Turns out someone decided they wanted unresonably big springs in an auto choke device hah! So I picked up all the bits, gave it a clean and not have no idea how it goes together. I concluded there was a kind of logic in the way i put it together (best fit) although this dosnt really make sense not that i fully understand how it works Soooo, after fiddling with it and putting it back in the bike will now only backfire... occasionally... how fantastic I have a picture so if anyone has any idea how these go together just let me know I did forget to put the large spring in there which i figured goes second in from the left... Any thoughts would be very much appreciated Best regards -Jvr
  18. Yeah, I would agree with whats been said and that the bike was only designed for that kind of speed... Everyone knows imports fall appart if not looked after but that dosnt mean they are slow Ps, not really knocking the imports, i ride an asian import myself, not to shabby, jst a little old this one heh. Give it a little more googling, i'm sure you will find that its restricted to that speed Not that it helps your situation Best regards -Jvr
  19. Well, New pads are in and all looks good there... Still just struggling like heck with the engine to get the bloody thing moving to i can enjoy the new break pads Will throw a post up about it tomorow if i get no joy from the carb cleaner -JVr

    JB weld

hey, Cheers for the heads up on that there, i just wasnt to sure if it was a good idea or not... To me it dosnt seem to unresonable but not being terribly experienced in these things i figured i could have missed something. I will take a trip down to the honda dealer as i'm still having issues with this engine and if we can make any sense of the problems then i'll go ahead and try patch it up Sadly, i'm beginning to think i'll jst have to grab a replacment engine off flea bay but will see lol. Best regards -Jvr

    JB weld

Hey there, To cut a long story short, whilst putting the engine back in my bike, a pretty fiddly job, due to a slight lack of for sight i ended up having to shift my grip to avoid finger squidging, as a result the engine took a little tumble It landed on its side and after having a look it just looked scratched... Later on after running it for a while i noticed a little oil on the side of the case and it appears there is a little crack there which had a little oil coming out Its only about a 1-1.5cm at most on the corner at the topof the K in Kymco in the photo. I'm pretty sure that as there is very little stress on this part of the engine as its only where the alternater wheel spins around the coild so JB weld or something simular i would have thought would be good. Any thoughts would be much appreciated Best regards -Jvr
  22. Hey yeah, I didnt think i had the stand down in gear feature until i found two wires exposed and touching Not to sure how you would go about finding the cables of interest, maybe try and find an electrical wiring diagram (manual maybehaps) and have a look. First things first though i would suggest sitting down, outlining the coniditions you suspect, write them down on a note pad, go to the bike, try out the different conditions and get a good solid view of where you stand and how its behaving. From there u can sit down and look for any patterns that may help (Sounds a little long winded dosnt it haha, damn my software engeneering classes). Let us know what you find out Best regards -Jvr
  23. Sounds like you did a good thorough job there! I was thinking of doing so but both pistons operate nice and smooth and if i decide to keep this bike later on after my full test i'll no doubt do a proper job Although that being said, the calipers could certainly do with a bit of a scrub down which i might do on friday I'll have a look arund and see if i can find a bolt that will fit on the end of that *bit* and see if it makes any difference. There wasnt 1 on there before cheers for the heads up on the calipers though -Jvr
  24. 1999 Kymco Stryker. Joy of joys, i got the side off and it had fallen in that direction so its out and all i had to do was get the side off Its going back on now because i'd love to carry on taking it appart and learning etc but at the moment its my only bike so i'll wait till i have another one before i start really messing around Have to say, i'v really enjoyed learning about the mechanics of this bike but with the last bits needed to get it going i think i'm done tinkering for a bit and want to get some riding done So yeah, crisis averted i'll throw a picture up in a few. Best regards -Jvr ps, I noticed the gasket between the engine casings was not a solid one, as in it must have been liquid when first applied as i found bits squashed on the inside, as a precaution i cleaned the surfaces and applied some instant gasket and where it had broken in a couple of spots i cleaned the underside and added some under there to. Who wants to bet this dosnt seal 100% though heh
  25. Okay, so this is going from bad to worse (for good to better from a tinkering perspective) Just as i was putting the head back together a washer must have been holding onto the side of the rocker housing and decided to drop right down the cam chain opening (didnt have a rag in there as i had just put the top half on and was just putting it all back together, silly me!). Sooooo, having looked at a few videos and looked around, i cant find much to go on but i'm assuming i'm in for some fun and a good excuse to get the rest of the engine appart (tried fishing, couldnt see anything beneath the chain, turning it upside down dosnt help to much either lol). Any thoughts on the subject would be fantastic, and yeah, i know, i'm a nit lol best regards -Jvr
