  1. Blimey you got 2 hrs out of yorus/ Mine barely lasts for 45.... I may either have to fabricate a USB charger or run another cable to the battery. thing is I dont want usb cables running all over my bike!
  2. There was another post a while back which mentioned this rumour. I think it was thrown out as stupid. Why would they test your ability to read a map, it's your ability to drive which matters
  3. !! Can you guys recommend anything for a 2010 ER-6N? The officials cost a fortune (170~)
  4. I'm thining of a Faired right now (aka the 'Sport')... 'Spensive
  5. Agreed. My approach was, "f**kin' Cane it".... Go as fast as you bloody can, forget the nerves. Floor it! (125's only people )
  6. Figure of eight. Honestly mate, do NOT worry. You have LOADS of space. Just keep the revs and just relax. Keep it smooth. Don't worry about your speed just take it easy and head around. No problem.
  7. Yeah I bought an MD80 clone for about 7 quid. Surprisingly good quality for something so cheap. It's like a reasonable webcam. I wouldn't go crazy but not half bad. I'm looking forward to giving it a go
  8. My mate had a real nightmare with George Whites. They also messed with me somewhat. I'd really avoid them.
  9. Cheers guys, I'm still hunting for a new bike . Having a nightmare selling my CBR for a decent price! (ps: Thanks viki for the C+P of my post)
  10. sorry to hear that cypek. Next time eh. And mojo thats bollocks. All the best riders pass first time. Actually KER5H THAT's Bollocks ...Everybody knows all the best riders pass 2nd time First time *cough* Car test on the other hand, third time means you're a driving deity
  11. Marushin Tiger helmet ~50 quid Buffalo Phantom Textile trousers ~50 Leather gloves ~25 Forcefield L2 back protector ~40 Lewis Burnout Jacket ~ 50 Thompson Boots ~ 50 All fairly cheap
  12. Hey mate, Ouch sorry to hear you had an off. Those kinds of conditions are hard to avoid. You just need to try and keep as upright as possible and maintain a consistant speed. Don't let yourself turn or rolloff the throttle. the key is consistancy and stability but even then.... Ultimately, if you're a gonner it's just tough luck.
  13. I must say I do the same whenever I do a "manoeuvre". AS the guy above said, I think I'm about to get run over my a cyclist if I dont look
  14. I would advise to check first if your is able to do that. My is not (yeah, I know its chinese) but recently there was a post by someone who was was not able to do that on japanese bike. I have switched to 3rd as I entered between cones, did this long turn around 22mph and accelerated on the exit. Reached 51kph on swerve and 52kph on em stop. If I could do that on my bike you can do it on CG/YBR easily. Well, of course if you doing it on 500 just do it in 2nd Good luck Totally agree, use third on a 125!!!! CB500 will rocket to 60-70kph
  15. I had a look into Bikesafe but its only for bikers with a full licence..but sounds a good day for anyone for the future Not sure where you picked that up mate but I just did it last saturday. L plates and all...
  16. I've got to say I really like the idea of module 1. The speed test is entirely fine but they do need to adjust it for the conditions and the machines. Quite simply, they need to take out the "speed" restriction. Or at least give everyone enough of a run up so they don't focus on the speed but rather on the stop. In short, it's a good idea. Just needs refining.
  17. That really sucks mate, honestly don't give up. It sounds like you've just had a bad run rather than a bad rider. If you were unsafe I'd say call it a day but it strikes me as luck has had a major part to play in this. I for example had a terrible test but still passed - maybe it was the instructors Friday feeling? Get out a bit more, see if you can do a 1 day DAS or something (yeah I know, money money money). I'd also highly recommend BikeSafe which is a day with the police for £45 - absolute bargain. Just keep it up mate, you're so close.
  18. Sorry to hear that mate, those little 125s struggle with that. You just have to gun it. No fear!
  19. Honestly mate, the turning circle wont be an issue. The space you have is HUGE. I have a CBR and I had no problem at all. You've got bags of space. Get a tape measure and see how far 7.5 meters is, it's a massive amount of space (2 1/2 car lengths)
  20. Cheers guys. Yeah I really can't stress enough, keep rolling on till your back in the office. I honest to god thought that was my time over. I genuinely thought I didn't stand a chance. So glad it's over now though, need to get shot of the little CBR and get something with a little more grunt.
  21. Hey guys, First of all, a huge thanks to answering all my questions. Right from buying the bike up to my Mod 2 questions . Coming here has really boosted my confidence and helped me progress in leaps and bounds. Secondly, yes I have no official training outside of my CBT and Bike Safe (This Saturday gone). I honestly believe with enough on-road experience you can pass your test to a higher standard than those without. For anyone following my route, I'd highly advise getting a couple of books (Ride 2010 is good, As is motorcycle roadcraft). Watch the Twist of the Wrist II DVD (and if you can buy the book). There were some shaky moments but overall it was fine without. Just a note: If you can afford to take holiday and pay the exorbitant amount (more than a car!!!) for a DAS or other official training - do it. It's there for a reason. My route takes a LOT longer as I've been riding for about 2 1/2 years now. The test!!! Wow, it went really really badly! I managed to secure a cancellation on Tuesday afternoon (this week) for an 8:20 start on Friday. London is a horrible place to drive. I took my test in Southall (shit-hole), there's cars in your lane. Cars parked on junctions. Cars bloody everywhere. Oh and let's not forget the junction. Unfortunately my DSA mindset went out the window when the instructor made me pull out across a T junction. He promptly gave me a bollocking for stopping for oncoming cars when there was a car in my lane. I was honestly under the assumption that if you can't get a car safely through - you shouldn't ride through... ** wrong **. Anywho, lots of delays and messing about on the roads. Went straight towards the A40 and bolted up there for a while (my poor little CBR having to get up to speed). Eventually pulled off into a major round-about. He told me to take the fourth exit on the roundabout - my brain target locked on the exit I thought it was and I slowly, and painfully edged forward (remember : rush hour). He stopped me on the round-about and gave me a "Can't you hear me" (aggravated). I decided to continue to the correct exit would be dangerous so I continued on. He told me to take a right into a road almost immediately as we were now on the wrong [painful] route. I saw the road and slowed down. As I got closer I thought, "Oh f**k that's a one way" (or at least it looked like a parking area rather than a proper road. Rather than turn I decided to cancel and ride off. Once again he gave me a stern bollocking. At this point I was *certain* I'd failed. No doubt in my mind. My mind said, "Oh f**k it, let's ride normally". He told me too take the next exit and we continued the long way, being reminded that "You've made this very hard on yourself". We did a U turn and pulled back on the main road. I did notice the Bus lane (which we can use) but I chose not to use it as I wasn't sure where it went. He wasn't happy He got in the bus lane and I took the hint. shot down the side of the traffic and returned to the round-about. At this point we headed home. I got another rollocking for waiting for oncoming traffic (me vs. bus - no thanks). He made me do two park-up's and pull offs. No major issue, no real cars around etc. Just had to avoid a drive and car opposite. Final manoeuvre was a hill start - no problem. Various indications etc as we did it. Finally parked up. He didn't ask me the pillion questions immediately so I was certain I'd failed. When we returned to the room he gave me one final rollocking for not listening. Then he gave me the pillion questions ... I must admit I was so furred up that I almost forgot his question and gave him a couple of wrong answers -thankfully he was fine when I gave him the correct ones. He gave me 1-2 minors as he couldn't remember the rest PASSED So what did I pick up? In short, even if you are utterly utterly certain you have failed. Give yourself a slap and continue riding. Don't hesitate too much for oncoming traffic, you really only need 3-4 space. My hate for London traffic has been freshly renewed. My next car will be a bloody hummer or Rangerover If you screw up, do it safely! DON'T RIDE DIFFERENTLY FOR THE DSA My MOD 1 write up is here: Mod 1
  22. Honestly mate, I completely agree with you. It's barmy. The whole Direct Access is a farce. Either everyone should have a 2 year probation or no-one. Theoretically if you have been riding a 125 for a couple of years, you are likely to be a better rider than someone who spent a 3-4 day crash course. At the very least you'll be able to handle the machine better. As you said, the cost is insane. Most people I know ride for pleasure and that really screws it up. I'm doing my A2 purely because I can't justify spending such a huge amount on it!
  23. on 500cc its a piece a cake, I used to put it in 2nd gear at the beginning of the arc and then just slightly rolled throttle on when I was on the straight line. Can't even imagine doing it on my 125... Unless you have something beefier like Aprilia or Yamaha DT125 2-strokes... Totally agree. I *only* just made it on my CBR. Really had to give it the beans. Felt like a chav in a Nova. The sharp corner before hand doesn't help matters. The observing instructors (DAS people) made the smarmy comment of, "well you changed up too early". I was sitting there thinking, if I dont change up my engine is going to explode
