The scariest near miss I've had was not on a bike but a rented 50cc scooter on holiday, coming back from the beach 2 up with my wife on the back coming round a downhill right hander the road was covered in sand and the from wheel went, not much I could do, I just concentrated on trying to keep it upright and luckily it found some grip just in time. My bike at the time was a 1600 softail and I nearly came a cropper on a moped

I have a couple of people coming to look at the Enfield, if someone buys it what's the best way to take payment?
-
After much thought I have decided to sell my Enfield, I bought it mainly to go to the gym after they closed the bus stop near me, it's a great little bike for nipping about town but I don't do that anymore. My previous bike was a Harley and although I'm unlikely to be able to afford one of those again I may buy a copy. Am I allowed to advertise my bike for sale on here?

Good news it passed this morning, bad news it's only done 140 miles since the last MOT
-
I picked up the battery this afternoon, I've fitted it and taken the bike for a run,the MOT is booked for tomorrow morning, I have checked the lights tyres and brakes so it should be OK. It was good to get out on it for a short run, I went to Lyndhurst but spun round at the start of the village, solid traffic with too many caravans.

It's not just damp, if any socket looks slightly heated or burnt it could be that.

My daughter had this in her kitchen and only when I went and was able to check the resistance to earth with my test set (I used to do this as part of my work) I traced the fault to some bad wiring behind the kitchen units. I disconnected that part of the circuit leaving 1 socket not working and it was all ok until I replaced her kitchen and rewired the socket. But without a test set it's very hard to locate the fault. As others have said the first thing to do is swap the RCD's over to try and confirm it is a fault on the circuit and not a faulty RCD.

It could be almost anything, you have to disconnect everything apart from the fridge freezer which has to be on, if it doesn't trip keep adding one at a time until it does. The problem is it's not always the last thing that has the fault. Most likely things are those that have water and electricity kettle immersion heater washing machine dishwasher etc. It may pay to call in a sparkly they have equipment to test the RCD and the resistance of appliances.

I got to check today and the battery is Donald I had a problem locating a new battery but I've got one now, it's AGM but it won't be here until after I leave for a short break with the caravan so it will be a week before the bike is back on the road
-
I've thought about it and I'm keeping it for now
-
I thought AGM batteries needed a different charging setting.

Bike was booked for it's MOT yesterday, after weeks of wall to wall sunshine it was pissing down. I dug out the wet weather gear and pulled the bike out of the shed, locked the shed put on my lid and gloves pushed the start button and everything went dead. I tried to start it on the kick start and the light came on but nothing else. As I said it was pissing down so I pushed the bike back in the shed and cancelled the MOT. I haven't had a chance to look at it yet but I think the battery is Donald, I keep it on a maintenance charge so it shouldn't be flat, the bike is 8 years old and a battery is probably due, unless I'm lucky and it's a loose connection. I should be able to have a look tomorrow, any advice on the best place to get a battery?

I have a Royal Enfield Bullet I've had it for 3 years bit I don't ride it much at all, I have to take it for it's MOT next week and I'm thinking about selling it after that. I got it to ride to the gym it's a great bike for local running around but no good for any longer rides and very small when 2 up. In truth I don't know if I need a bigger bike or no bike at all. Looking at prices the bike has not lost any value since I bought it so it's only tax insurance and maintenance, but now I'm retired it still adds up, I just don't want to think I've ridden a bike for the last time. If I do sell any suggestions about where/ how?

Daughter's boyfriend has a license from Thailand his was for a car, he had insurance and was ok until the year was up he couldn't take a UK test because of Covid. He has done it now. -
I've removed the bodge and as the original fuse carrier is no longer available I've put in a blade fuse, I used crimped connections as solder can suffer with the vibration
-
I got a txt a couple of hours ago hopped on the bus and picked it up, good to have it back.

I'm with Auto aid, first time I've had to use them no complaints, the only thing is they got me to find the garage before they sent the recovery van. When they did it was here within the hour.

Bike is at the dealer they recon it's only the tube so not too bad
-
In my post from yesterday I said about the bike not charging, now I've fixed that (bodge} I was off to get the parts to do a good repair but got less than 100 yards Flat tyre, I pumped it up and it's straight back down. Breakdown people are on their way

I've had a look and it was an easy diagnosis, the fuse had heated up and burned through the fuse holder and the wire, I have bodged it for now (soldered the wire back and cleaned and tightened up the holder and fixed the hole with tape) The part is not available so I will put in an inline fuse carrier and new fuse. It is possible it may have been faulty for some time, I normally keep the bike on a maintenance charger and do 1 or 2 trips on it, yesterday I did a lot of running around with many start-ups flattening the battery. I've looked on eBay but not sure of the quality so I'm off the Halfords. Thanks for the help guys.

Yes but I don't know much about modern bikes
