  1. I'm an ex Harley rider, I nodded at everyone. Still do,some nod back and some don't.
  2. STREWTH £37 Was that for both or each? Sorry to ask, but if for one you have got the record (go on name), if for both it sounds about right for this area.... If each you did not pic the most expensive place I know of but you need to go to the IOW for that. https://www.saltysrestaurant.co.uk/ "Traditional beer battered Cod & chips with our own fresh tartare sauce - Kids £8.00 Ladies £18.00 Gents £20.00" Then the wine starts at £5 a glass (125ml)... So count yourself luck it could of been £50 for the same thing Without the ferry journey in Lymington I can find "Crispy battered fish & chips Smashed peas & tartare sauce - £14.50" With wine starting at £4.40 (125ml) a glass. So £37 is not that unusual round here anyway... Hell the Chip shop on the High Street is £7 for fish and chips. £37 was for both, and it's on the water front with good views. I don't think it is overpriced for the area and location, bit I'm on a pension now, so for a mid week meal on a bike run I can't justify the price often. We often get deals on Groupon and pay less for 4 star, although without the view. Anyway a bike of chips on the quayside with a can of beer can be good.
  3. My username is simple. I used to be on a couple of forums as the gasman then I retired (sort of)
  4. A fellow contributor on the ER5 forum has just done the North West 500 on an Enfield Himalayan and that doesn't include the ride to the start point. Maybe the Himalayan is a little less of a bone shaker. I'm off to do most of the NW500 on a Sportster with stock suspension on Saturday . Should be interesting . I did Spain on a sportster 2 up nearly killed us!
  5. We're going to have a look next time, fish and chips, a pint and a glass of wine £37 at the pub.
  6. I never let the idiot behind worry me on a bike or in a car I keep slowing down until they get the message and slow down or overtake, if they do that's great because now you can follow at a safe distance, at their speed letting them take all the risk.
  7. Good riding weather yesterday so we went for a little run down to Lymington on the Enfield. Great little bike plenty of power with 2 up but it does not like it much over 60 mph. Also it's a bit of a boneshaker and I don't fancy a longer run. Not a problem, I got it for a town runaround and it's great for that. I did notice the state of the roads, not had a bike for a few years the roads are much worse than before. I didn’t notice so much in a car. Lots of manhole covers dropped by several inches and potholes everywhere.
  8. Yes is was all bollocks and nice coffee and cake I've not done 1 but I know someone who has done 3. It's all about making money. If you do the course the plod gets the cash. If you pay the fine the government get the cash.
  9. no because I don't speed. But I have to work very hard at not speeding. When I was working I did up to 40,000 miles a year and never got a ticket, I think of it like a game. They are trying to make me go over by 3 or 4 miles and I'm trying not too. So far so good, but they are making it harder. But compared with France it's still better here .
  10. The problem I have with the speeding thing. There is no standard for setting speed limits. If everything was standard we would know what the limit is by the type of road we are riding on, as it is the limits are confusing and confused. Sometimes the limit will change several times in a mile or two on what is effectively the same road. It’s hard not to think that "they" are just trying to raise money. Near me there is a road that has had the limit lowered to 40 from 50 just before the end of the 40 limit there is a camera next to the 50 sign but the camera is just in the 40 section. It must catch a lot of people, nearly caught my daughter, when I warned her about it she said look it's 50 here. If that's not set up to collect money what is it for?
  11. Any gate hinges are a weak point. Drill through both sides of the hinge and put a stainless steel bolt through with a locknut and then mushroom the end over. Nothing will stop them but it will slow them down.
  12. As far as I know you must have insurance but tax is not required if you are going to a pre-booked MOT test. You must go straight to the test and back home if it fails. If it is deemed unroadworthy you should not ride it home. If it passes the MOT you can tax it on your phone straight away. You can insure a bike without an MOT John
  13. I wonder how many virgin's they sacrificed to the God's to get electrickery How many virgins are there in Cardiff?
  14. I insured with bikesure and got a discount because of being a member on here. Make sure you tell them.
  15. Two guys in a pub first one asks how long does chicken last in a freezer? His mate about 3 months. That's funny I put one in last night and it was dead by the morning
  16. [strikeout][/strikeout] Can anyone recommend a phone holder for my bike? I've looked on Amazon and they all have poor reviews
  17. I'm looking for a luggage rack or possibly panniers for my Bullet Electra X 500. Can collect locally, I'm in Southampton, or can use Collect +
  18. My bike is on a wooden shed. I've drilled the hinges and bolted them on, and bought the toughest hasp and lock. But I do worry a lot. I park the car in front of the shed to block the door when I'm home. But there is nothing when I'm away. It won't get any better until we have police who care about anything other than speeding.
  19. I went to the gym on the bike today, forecast was OK so when Mrs. EX asked if I wanted my waterproofs, I said no it's only a short trip. So I came out of the gym and there was a slight drizzle. As soon as I'm on the bike the sky opened and I was soaked. Still had the biggest smile all the way home. I've not had a bike for 7 years and it's so good to be back on 2 wheels.
  20. My dad was French and in the French resistance. Then he walked from Paris over the mountains to Spain. Then a boat to England and joined the free French army. The French were not told when D day was as there were too many German spies. Dad went over 3 days after D day. It was years before he talked about it, and never went into detail. I have lived my whole life with no danger. We are so lucky. John
  21. It goes on the registered details when new
  22. My daughter lives just inside the London ULEZ and will have to sell her car. As I understand it you are charged for every day the vehicle is in the zone. Even if it is parked all day. The charge is to enter the zone. We have just escaped in Southampton, the council gave up when they saw the resistance. Southampton council has a very small majority.
  23. Hi does anyone on here have a Bullet 500? Iv'e just bought one and it's due a service, I haven't done one of these and any advice would be great. John
  24. Just added personal cover to my Green Flag car policy for £22. The car policy was £59. Shop around
