I forgot to update this. After a delay due to the death of the lady they did it for, it went ahead at the end of May the original moped didn't make it so it was replaced with one that would run, they brought a spare 125 but it wasn't needed. It took over 16 hours and I'm sure it hurt, between them it cost more than the £1,200 they raised but they have the bikes to sell although my mate ( 28 stones) is keeping the mini chopper

I did some running around on the Enfield today and by 4pm. It wouldn't start, I needed to go to the hospital to see Mrs. Ex who is a patient at the moment. I started it on the kick start (the benefit of old style bike) I have had a quick look and I think it's not charging, I will have a proper look tomorrow. Can anyone help with how to test the alternator and voltage regulator please?

Last time I checked my Euro3 bike is complaint with the London ULEZ my car is Euro6 so ok, my daughter lives just inside the ULEZ and had to replace a perfectly good car in order to not get fined.

I ride very differently from the way I drive. On the bike I assume all drivers have not seen me, until I'm sure they have, I also assume every car, van , truck, taxi etc wants to kill me

They are hoping to make £1,000 for the charity and it's halfway there already, They are paying their own expenses and I think there is an element of fun involved.

A friend is intending to do a run for charity, along with his son, they are setting off in Wales and riding to Essex (the actual route has not been decided on yet) In itself not Mad but the bikes chosen for the trip should make it interesting he (28stones) is riding a 100cc mini chopper his son also a bigish man is doing it on a 50cc moped. They are planning to do it on the 25 March, so the weather may be not so good the trip is about 300 miles they plan on doing it non stop. Because of the moped they can't used motorways and even A roads would have big safety concerns. I hope they manage it and I will post again when I have more information, but I think they're mad

I was thinking about the scariest times on a bike, the only times I have been OFF were in the first 18months of starting to ride, only one accident was my fault, when I crashed a combo the first (and the last)I time I rode it, the other 2 times I came off were due to ice and another driver, but I do think it was my inexperience that contributed. I am sure both times I would have not come off now. I started riding bikes in 1968 after passing my test at age 16 I bought a Royal Enfield Meteor Minor 500cc. Over the years I have had a few incidents but the one which scared me to most was on a hired 50cc scooter on a Greek island, Mrs. Ex was on the back and coming downhill around a bend due to sand on the road, the front wheel went, I have had several times when I have lost the back end and mostly that is easily corrected but when the front was out of control on a bend I was expecting trouble, luckily after a few yards it found some grip and I was able to bring it back, but that was the only time I had no idea how to get out of the situation. What is your scariest moment on 2 wheels?

The scariest bend I did was in Spain, going around the hairpin I went wide to avoid the camber, then met a car coming the other way, thought went and reactions took over, so I banked LEFT then realised and went right but it was lucky we were both going slow. Since then I have been more careful riding abroad in that split second the reaction after years of UK riding is to go left

I don't think it was riding the bike that did the damage, it was lifting the bike onto the main stand for the oil change. So stupid of me, but the oil change was overdue and I wanted to get it done before too much more riding With luck I should be ok by the spring, I don't ride much in the winter these days anyway.

It's now 3 months since I ruptured the bicep in my arm and it's not healing. I took the Enfield out for a run and the changed the oil, that was the first time I have ridden it since it's MOT. Somehow I strained the arm again and it's back in a sling, I have an appointment with a doctor in two weeks and it may need an operation. So no more riding for months, luckily the car is an auto but I do miss getting out on the bike, especially with the great Autumn weather we are having

Nothing, it was booked in for it's MOT, but I dislocated my shoulder yesterday

Hi I need some help please, I've just washed the bike and found a lot of chain lube on the back wheel and around the back end, I think I have put too much on. I've been riding bikes for over 50 years, but most of the time on Harleys so no need to worry about such things. I tried to get the lube off with meths but it is taking so long. Is it safe to used something like Gunk? can that damage the tyre? Is there anything else for the job? Thanks

I took the Enfield out for a short run today, I stopped to put petrol in and didn't notice some spilled diesel, as I left the forecourt and stopped at the road, my left boot slipped as though it was on ice and if my toe hadn't gripped I would have been off. I made sure I put my right foot down for the rest of the ride and I've cleaned the boot with meths so it should be OK next time but I will be more careful in fuel stations from now on.

Over 30 years ago I fitted small speakers into my helmet for my motorway commute, now I only ride for fun I don't need the music, even when I did long rides in France and Spain I didn't bother, the ride was enough

I don't think I would trust any locker here, sadly they would be a target for thieves.

I'm retired, and didn't think I missed work at all, but on Monday I did a small job for my ex boss at his home, he is also now retired, and I realised that I did miss working, so I went along to my old firm yesterday and offered to do some holiday cover. I'm not going to work every day, or every week, but just a bit here and there to keep me occupied, and make some extra cash as well

Can you get a delivery job? even part time? It will make a difference

Years ago I was due to loose my licence, I had the AA breakdown and that gave me legal cover. They provided a solicitor and I changed my job to one requiring a licence. I kept my licence but got a large fine. Does your insurance have legal protection? Or your breakdown service? You may get the solicitor from them. It was a long time ago and thing may have changed, but can you get a job as a delivery rider? Or a van delivery job? It will all help

I have had my little Enfield for a year now and I have never put any lube on the chain, oops I have had Harleys for years and totally forgot, I don't use the bike a hell of a lot, and not often in the rain, so should be ok. I'm doing it before the next time I take it out.

Thanks for the advice guys, I have had bikes on and off for over 50 years and never had this problem, including when my Harley never came out to play for the winter months. This bike does not have separate primary drive oil it runs in engine oil, don't know if that makes a difference bit the advice has saved a few hours and some cash too.

Hi I'm having a problem with the clutch on my Bullet 500. When I first ride it every day the clutch will not disengage, so I put it in gear hold the rear bake on and push the starter the clutch separates and it is fine for the rest of the day. I am thinking about replacing the plates but not sure if it needs it as there is no slipping or any problem disengaging apart from when it has been standing overnight. Any ideas please
